karacic looks technically decent and is a captain of a croatian 1st division team at the age of 21. 1 goal and 4 assists in 2152 minutes this season
My guess is he will be roughly as good as gersbach but rightfooted

I wouldn't be surprised to see Giannou end up as the primary striker in BVM's system.

With the preliminary squad of 32 - do they get to train together. On reading the summary, I am thinking that they do not and just next week the squad of 26 will head to Europe? if this is the case, what is the point of a preliminary squad of 32?

+xPlayers to Cut: Tim Cahill
Whilst this is preferable we all know that he's going even if his arms & legs were amputated.

A big positive from this list is that every player is at a club and most are receiving decent game time. Have any other countries named their preliminary squads?

On reading the summary, I am thinking that they do not and just next week the squad of 26 will head to Europe? if this is the case, what is the point of a preliminary squad of 32? Two reason for the preliminary squad of 32. 1: FIFA say we have to name a squad of 30-35 players before May 14th. 2: Only players lodged in the Preliminary squad can be named in the final squad of 23. So if any injuries occur in the training camp/Friendlies they can only be replaced by players from the Prelim squad.

not 100% sure but from what Bert said he'll only take 1 of Juric & Giannou and 1 of Ruka & JMac. 1 target man and 1 fast striker, as well as Cahill probably

Here is mine ideally we play with 4 midfielders and include Arzani of the bench...tempting as it is i dont think Bert will do this Ryan Karacic Sainsbury Jurman Behich Jedinak Luongo Mooy Rogic Arzani after 70 to replace Kruse or leckie Juric

Karacic is an awesome selection. He has 4 goals and 4 assists from the fullback position in 50 league game in Croatia. He has also played on either flank at fullback as well as wing back, winger and centre back. Would 100% be taking him to Russia and I think would be starting him over Wright and Risdon. He will be good enough to be capped for Croatia very soon and whilst he might not be a 10 year player for them he could easily be that for us especially at right back.

If I was either J Mac or Juric and I didn't make it because of Cahill I would be spewing. Love Timmy for all he has done but we have tried before to take underdone players to the WC. South Africa with Kewell , Grella and Bresciano was a terrible idea and cost us a knockout spot. Those three were 31, 30 and 30 respectivley and playing in the UCL, Serie A and EPL leading into the cup not a 38 year old with less than 90 minutes all season in the championship.

+x+x+x+x+x+x8 players from the squad to go. Timmy, Ruka, Langerak, Brillianta, Wright ... thats 5 with 3 more to add.... We all know Timmy's going to the World Cup. Care to make a schooner wager on that? I'm thinking he's done his dash. I think he's done his dash as well, but the lack of any other goalscoring players almost guarantees his inclusion. Bert has to figure out how he can get Rogic closer to the pointy end and and not stuck scrapping and burning energy in the middle. 2 up front, JMac and Rogic, although a world cup probably isn't the time to experiment we looked great when we played as a 442 diamond under ange. imo it was our best football. i'd like to see rogic as a false 9 with 2 wings in front

How can someone who has never been to Aus (If that is true) play for us? That's ludicrous.

Cahill has always been the exception to the rule though, he did get us into this world cup not even a year ago.

He's quite tall and good in the air too... which is something we have lacked in our fullbacks for a while now... I hope he makes it.

+xHow can someone who has never been to Aus (If that is true) play for us? That's ludicrous. Agree with that. If he feels Croatian and would prefer to play for them he should back himself and wait for the chance. Croatia isn't a big country population-wise and even though they can produce great players, they often don't have depth. If he achieves any high level he could definitely play for them one day.

+xBrad Smith the only one that misses out, that comes to mind... He injured his hip in our WC qualifier. The injury was about 4 months. He has been on the bench for Bournemouth but hasn't actually played a minute of football since October.
