+xJMac was too one dimensional when he was in the A League. I haven't watched him in Scotland, but he shouldn't go unless he's added some more facets to his game. yeah. he had that one dimension of scoring goals.

Degenek, Jurman, Sainsbury and Susnjar the centre halves if Bailey Wright is cut? I find it hard to believe he'd pick Susnjar and Degenek over Wright...

+x+x+xGersbach missing out is a big disappointment to me Gersbach looked OK the couple of times I saw him play, but there's obviously something deficient there. Struggled to break into an average Norwegian team and now plays for a poor 2nd division French club, where his spot in the starting 11 isn't exactly guaranteed (I think he's been left on the bench a few times). It's just not good enough. He hasn't earned a Socceroos spot. Rosenbourg is roughly Celtic quality so playing as much as he has for them is pretty decent by our current standards I don't agree. Rosenborg is nowhere near Celtic quality.

Bailey Wright was poor at right-back vs Norway against pace, so deserves to be cut.
Considering only one of Karacic and Risdon likely to go in 23, then some cover required there. Degenek and Milligan probably the stronger back-ups

+xAlso reports that Bailey Wright and Alex Gersbach are another two players who won't be joining the squad in Turkey - source Those are more understandable, though Wright can consider himself unlucky. Fell out of favour at Bristol City at exactly the wrong moment. I wonder what happened there.

There's nothing stopping them from taking 27 to Turkey. JMac might have to sleep on the floor but I'm sure he won't mind.

+x+x+x+x+xSome Pencils come with erasers, the final 26 is not for couple more weeks, there is always room for change. No way could he take Ruka over Jamie given current form I thought the 26 gets announced early next week. In-form Jamie Maclaren's 2018 FIFA World Cup hopes have been dashed with Socceroos coach Bert van Marwijk opting to leave him out of his 26-man squad for this month’s training camp in Turkey.
UPDATEDUPDATED 1 HOUR AGO BY DAVE LEWIS
The on-loan striker signed off for the season with a hat-trick for Hibernian in their 5-5 draw with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership overnight, to take his tally to eight goals in 13 games since arriving in the UK.
But celebration quickly turned to exasperation for the 24-year-old, who has excelled since joining Hibs on loan from 2.Bundesliga Darmstadt 98 in January.
Jamie Maclaren Hat-trick helps Maclaren's World Cup hopes Maclaren is Australia's form forward, with the goals drying up for Tomi Juric in Switzerland and 38-year-old Tim Cahill racking up just 64 goalless minutes during his brief sentimental stint with maiden club Millwall at the back end of the Championship season.
He was justifiably anticipating showing Australia's Dutch coach what he can do in Turkey, before the bombshell decision to cull him from the 32-man provisional squad was made.
The 26 players bound for Turkey will be officially be announced on Tuesday - 23 of whom will be on the plane to Russia when the final cut comes in early June.
Colombia v Australia - friendly international match Socceroos to confront doubters in Russia, says Schwarzer The decision to deny him the chance to flourish face-to-face in the boot camp planned for Antalya from May 19, will leave many fans scratching their heads.
With Maclaren's treble joy short lived, he will now look to resolve his club future as he refocuses towards January's 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
He has two years left on his contract in Germany but having barely featured since signing from Brisbane Roar, Maclaren - who holds a UK passport - is keen to pursue his future in England.

It indicates that MacLaren won't be in the squad announced on Tuesday and has no chance of playing at the World Cup. The final squad will be picked out of the 26 players going to Turkey. Still over a week, and that an eternity in football Tuesday is tomorrow.

+xYou won't have 2 slow pokes anchoring midfield against France.Against France...------------------Ryan-------------------Karacic-Sainsbury-Susnajr-Behich-----Milligan---Irvine---Luongo----------Leckie------Mooy----Petratos----Rogic replaces Mooy at 60-70 mins anchoring midfield? they will be lucky to touch the ball in this game..

+xAm I the only one that doesn't rate Maclaren that highly? I also don't think hes the type of player that you can get the best out of with 2 weeks of training a system. Maybe if he keeps his form up next season then Arnold can develop a system around a player like him. I wasn't convinced when he was in Oz, but last night his movement and running was world class.. every time he was 1v1 with his defender he almost scored by simply creating space for himself.. we'd be mad not to take a guy who just scored a hat trick - doesnt really matter how bad a league he's in. we dont have any goal scorers.. 8 from 13 when he barely got settled in scotland? seems decent to me. But he needs to play that second striker/roaming role he did last night you'd put him alongside Juric/Rogic.

I don't rate him as highly as most do on here, but at least he can score goals which makes him probably our 3rd best striker. Nobody else is scoring goals. He needs to be there for that reason alone. Even when he was scoring in the A-league he would still go missing for the Socceroos when given the opportunity. Too one dimensional & when playing against more organised defenders seems like he's not even on the park. Nevertheless, gotta feel for the lad if he isn't in the 26-23 considering he's had a great run of form lately.

+xWhat's up with Juric? Has he been playing? I don't remember when he last scored a goal. Coupled with Cahill, our attacking stocks look worse than ever. Of course you'd take McLaren to Turkey, as insurance if nothing else. Seems a shocking decision to cut him now. he's got a knock currently. scored 7 this year, but his strengths have always been in his link up play note he was missing for that horrorshow in Norway, but led the line well vs Colombia that sort of stuff gets missed when people are just quoting goals per game stats

+xI would drop Cahill for Maclaren. No game time for Cahill means he doesn't deserve a spot. Cahill can go for experience and the fact he always does well for us.

well i'm assuming he's gone for Nabbout, after specifically referencing him as an option up front
until the hat-trick yesterday that looked a reasonable enough shout. now you'd side with Maclaren but not much in it
