Ok so I listened to 49 seconds of ‘I have dream’… there is still no part of me that likes ABBA… lucky it’s RUOk day tomorrow, hopefully a couple of people reach out considering the trauma I just suffered…

Dr Maki and I have diagnosed you as having a terminal case of Abba-itis.

The only known cure is listening to the entire ABBA catalogue for 10 hours 3 days in a row,

Dr Marki and HD's web cures to the rescue. Good luck.

Dr Marki what do we recommend for Dman here?

I'm leaning towards a mixture of English soccer and the Teletubbies, on 2 TVs.

Guess what???…
I got a fever and the only prescription is more cow bell…

“Here’s the crazy thing. I go to see Christopher Walken years later, in a play. I say hello to him backstage and he’s like, ‘You know, you’ve ruined my life,'" Ferrell said, impersonating Walken’s distinctive voice: “‘People during curtain call bring cowbells. The other day I went for Italian food for lunch, and the waiter asked if I wanted more cowbell with my pasta bolognese.'"

Thing about that Cowbell sketch, you write it down on a piece of paper or try to describe it to somebody and you’d think it was so stupid and so unfunny and it just won’t work.

But then you add in Christopher Walken, not breaking character for even a millisecond, and it’s so brilliant, so f***in’ funny and works brilliantly.

Has anyone watched  "The Sopranos". One good thing about the  lockdown is being able to catch up on a few things and this I've done...halfway through final season. There was rather a surreal episode where two of the thugs try and recruit Ben Kingsley to play the lead in a slasher flick they want to make. Ben Kingsley hams it up a treat. They get to go on a walk through of the giveaway room and see Ben given designer watches, sunglasses, phones etc. They try to get him get them in to this but he works his way around it. Later Ben sees Lauren Bacall walking round the pool and introduces them to her. Cut to the chase...she is walking out of  hotel with a big basket of such free goodies when the two potential directors now masked punch and rob her. She must have had a lot of fun making that episode and uttering a few curse words on the way.

It doesn't matter whether it's ABBA or Bay City Rollers or Ted Mulry Gang, people have the right to listen to what they want and although I am not a fan there is a market for every genre imaginable.

You'd have to draw the line at Celine Dion or Mariah Carey.

Micko, not sure what stats you got but would those be "total meters gained" or separated as "metres from forward runs" and "line break metres" or "kick metres" ?

My point with Zef is that we dont necessarily need to overhaul our forward pack with metre eaters, as you can still win the territorial battle with other means (line breaks, good kicking game, good kick chase, well operating defence line, discipline etc).

At the moment, we are poor across the board so every avenue should look for improvement. But we are bringing in speedsters next year who can make the line breaks we have been starved of last 5 years. Also, good kicking game from Burton. It's why I didnt want to lose Lewis - kicking game. Too late now I think.

The worst thing we can do is continue to trial Flanagan in the hope he can improve. It will just send us backwards.

We also need to speak with refs during off season and understand why we cop so many ruck penalties and 6 agains. Discipline must improve but also our perceived discipline issues.

Kick meters are separated from running meters. If you look on the NRL app it is clear that the best teams every year make the most run meters. If you want to be top four you have to win the forward battle. Yes those meters are also made from outside backs and teams with more line breaks did make the top four as well.

Quite obviously we need to continue to improve our forward pack. However not at the expense of the spine. I think my point is that we do need to continue to improve our pack. Not overhaul it. Just improve it.

I’ll agree I wouldn’t be happy seeing Flanno continue to get a chance if he is unsuccessful. But he deserves a chance in the trials. All of the contenders do. Whoever works best with Burto needs to be given the nod. And they need to stick with that combination long term. Successful teams rarely change their halves

and yes. We need to improve our relationship with refs and improve our discipline.

Micko, I agree we need to give everyone a chance in the trials but unless Flanno can dramatically turn around the way he plays (dont think he can) he is well behind the other contenders (Avo, Wakes, BBO even JMK).

The important thing is we need to make sure we can at least win a game in every 5 so we dont feel forced to chop and change. It's hard to persist with the same halves combo if you lose a number of games on the trot and it's all down to impotent attack.

I'm hoping we have a kind draw next year and can jag a win in the first 3 weeks.

I disagree. The halves need to be picked because they are the best we have. They need time to learn combinations on the run. Ideally we simply pick our best team and stick with them until injury. No matter the results. Unless injury happens I would stick with this team.

1. Dufty
2. Fox
3.
4. Naden
5. Cotric
6. Burto
7. Avo
8. Vaughan
9.
10. Thompson
11. TPJ
12. Hethrington
13. Jacko

Schoup, BBO, Tompine, JMK etc can all fill the other positions unless somebody stands out during the trials. If we keep that side on the park and have improved players in the other two positions and off the bench we could win enough to crack the 8. If we have a lot of luck. We need to give our players a very good chance over a long period of time or we will never see results.

Micko, i think you have to appreciate that Tbaz is under as much scrutiny as the players now that Gus is on board...
And that means, he cannot afford to pick and stick if the results aren't coming our way. He is also looking to cement his role as head coach.

I pretty much agree with the team you selected though. I would probably play Wakeham at halfback and Avo either in the centres or on the bench but i wouldnt have an issue if Avo was first choice at halves either. It means Schoup will play centre which i believe he did enough this year to have first crack next year.

As you have pointed out, hooker is anyone's guess but i assume it will be JMK with BBO on the bench. I dont expect to see Cook in the first grade team unless we are going badly and need to try him. He will probably develop in the lower grades throughout 2022 and come into first grade in 2023 once JMK is on the way out.

I think repeated poor performances in first grade should not be tolerated by any team. By repeated, i mean 3 games.

Peter V'landys flags move to new Liverpool stadium for Bulldogs and Wests Tigers

A major development is coming for a western Sydney football stadium.

Australian Rugby League Commission boss Peter V'landys says he wants a new Bankwest-style stadium to be built at Liverpool, naming both the Bulldogs and Tigers as potential tenants.

The New South Wales state government has decided to reallocate more than $800 million in funding that was originally earmarked to upgrade Stadium Australia, with the money to instead be spent on suburban grounds.

Penrith, Brookvale and Kogarah are at the top of the list, with V'landys hopeful work could start in 2022.

"I think we can lock this in," V'landys told Radio 2GB's Ben Fordham.

"As you know there was $800 million set aside to upgrade ANZ (Stadium Australia), that's not going to happen, there will be some funds go to ANZ but the majority will be spent on suburban stadiums, the government has committed to doing business cases for three of them – Brookvale, Penrith and Kogarah.

"They will do that and once they complete (that), and I'm sure they'll be positive, they'll make announcements as to what grounds will be done.

"Hopefully, construction could start within the next 12 months."

While Penrith appears to be the front-runner to re-built first, V'landys explained that any of the three could be the first cab off the rank.

"We haven't decided that, that's a discussion between us and government, I'm not discounting any of them," he said.

While three existing grounds have been nominated for a re-build, V'landys also threw up the possibility of a new ground.

"We also want one out in Liverpool where we can have the Bulldogs and possibly the Tigers," he said.

"By the time the strategy is finished, New South Wales and Sydney should have some of the best sporting facilities anywhere in the world, and we deserve them."

Currently the Bulldogs play out of Bankwest and Stadium Australia, but a move to Liverpool has been touted for decades, as has a return to their spiritual home at Belmore.

The club investigated the possibility of building a stadium at Liverpool in the late-1990's, a move that was abandoned when club legend Steve Mortimer became CEO in 2002.

The Bulldogs Leagues Club already owns a site on the Hume Highway at Liverpool, adjacent to the Whitlam Leisure Centre.

The Wests Tigers currently play some of their matches at Leichhardt Oval. (9News)

The Tigers situation is even more complex. This season their Sydney home games are split between Leichhardt Oval (three matches in 2021), Campbelltown (three matches) Bankwest Stadium (three matches) and Stadium Australia (one match).

With the Balmain faction unlikely to support a full-time move to Campbelltown, and the Wests side of the joint venture similarly opposed to more games at the run-down Leichhardt Oval, a 'neutral' venue at Liverpool could be the ideal way to solve the impasse and get the club a state of the art home ground.

"The suburban stadium strategy is the right one, you want people walking to the grounds, and more importantly you want to keep the money in the local economy, you want the restaurants and the cafes to benefit from having that stadium in their local precinct," V'landys said.

"It also serves other sports and schools and the theatre. It's a very valuable asset for every community."

We’ve signed a prop by the name of Makatoa. He’s a Warriors jr, but has played for Roosters & Manly’s feeder club.
Gus tweeted he’s on a train & trial contract. Big boy. Apparently he’s SBW’s cousin.

Dman is also SBW’s cousin too… on the mother’s side. Not many know this.

Well I only found out the other day I’m distantly related to Neddy Smith. Can’t say he was mourned.

Don’t forget uncle Bill Orielly, and great great great Aunt Saint Mary…

Of those 3 (including SBW) 1 option is  true…
