+x+x+x+x+xI think what you blokes don’t understand is in nations where football is big, like most of them, there are no fans, players or anyone else calling for it to be easier to score goals. They actually like it that it is so hard. They don’t want bigger goals or less players or f***in’ lines on the ground just to make it easier so Australians can score. They like it so that only players like Maradona or one of the Ronaldo’s (why are there so many Ronaldo’s?) are the only one’s who make it look easy. They walk away from. 0-0 score, as long as it’s a quality game, and say yup that’s the way it should be - cause it ain’t f***in’ easy. If you want to see someone score every time they get possession, then there’s always basketball. Yes the key sentence here is if it is a quality game. I do agree that it will be close to impossible to change the rules, even if all fans worldwide were asking for it. It is hypothetical, a lot of sport has limitations where the level of entertainment depends on the players and coaches. Sometimes 0-0 is more entertaining and a higher quality game than 1-1. But all fans want to see action, not necessarily scoring, but quality attack perhaps stopped by great defence or a great save. Fans don't like to see a lot of slow passing with very few shots on goal, and no team ever looking like scoring. I'm familiar with EPL, 1 in 5 ganes is a dud, 1 in 5 a bit ordinary, 3 out of 5 good with some exceptional. These are the games I happen to watch, not all games. Fans are generally happy with the standard, but fans are not happy about the dud games. Like I said it is hypothetical, I don't think the powerbrokers in soccer are reading the BDP. You are mostly right HD but the thing is, in league, you can watch 2 teams have a fumble-a-thon and it would still be interesting. In soccer however if you are watching 2 teams having a shocker and cant string 2 passes together, its an abysmal game. Quite simply, one is a better spectacle of a game with more latitude to poor play, while the other is highly dependent on good skill otherwise it can get quite boring. What i find most interesting is that you often get great atmosphere in the stands in soccer games. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with whats on the pitch! There were plenty of blowout league games I switched off last year. Actually a few i3 didn't even bother turning on. Yep, thats tinkering with the rules too much that it affected the overall product. Im hoping this years rule will correct some of that, but we shall see. I wouldn't mind if we just went back to playing rugby league. It wasn't too bad.

If you want to see someone score every time they get possession, then there’s always basketball. Thats because its the established #1 or #2 sport in thos countries and not under threat. Here, id say soccer is behind League, AFL, Big Bash and even Netball. Its competing with the likes of Basketball and Union, except those sports are actually wanted by the networks and currently no network even wants soccer. Sure its partly on channel 10, but not even 10 was willing to buy the full rights.... Its actually disappointing and a travesty how ACMA has allowed the game to be chopped up by all the subscription companies... If you want EPL, you have to have Optus. If you want A-league, you need Paramount+. If you want european leagues (spain, italy, germany, france, even EFL) you need Fox or Kayo and if you want Champions League, you need Stan Sport. They have butchered the game. If they can make A-league games attractive they might get a better TV deal. I don't understand Paramount+, but maybe that was the best deal they could get. Money wise, this is the only sport where we are bidding for talent against much wealthier countries. In terms of local sponsors, well behind NRL, AFL and cricket. Basketball seems to be going ok, I never watch the local comp, but internationally the team seems to be competitive. In both sports if a talented young kid gets a big more deal overseas, they should probably take it. League and AFL are protected because they are irrelevant on the world stage. No one poaching the top talent.

+x+xIs that an Aiden Tolman in the end? Im sharpening the pins as we speak! hehe, the names were in the listing. The one on the end was meant to be James Graham. I found these by accident when seeing if there were any decent Canterbury middie glasses. All I could find was a 600ml glass & I'm not that kind of drinker. It's probably a European size the factory stuck a Canterbury logo on. Now that you mention it, I did see a lot of football cards in the search results, including several Tolmans. $1.95 each delivered. This would be a good gift for Steve : https://bit.ly/3LdzBuA Too kind....better than the 500 pc Bulldogs jigsaw or the fekkin' cockatoo in the blue and white colours...sadly mine had an accident but it took about 3 or 4 attempts.

I found where to get Canterbury beer glasses, if anyone is interested. This place has Canterbury middy & schooner glasses in both standard or premium styles, also optional words of your choice can be engraved : https://www.customiseme.com.au/nrl/bulldogs.html?p=2And this place has a different style of Canterbury schooner glasses : https://memorabiliaaustralia.com.au/Canterbury-Bulldogs-Set-Of-2-Schooner-Glasses.html

"It's the perfect storm for gangs - they known when and where games are being held and who is playing," a police source told Wide World of Sports. "These gangs are organised and dangerous and security at junior league grounds is not overly strong. "Gang members see the footy as the ideal place to settle scores and put claims on their turf. "If it isn't clamped down on soon, the NRL and NSW Rugby League will have real problems on their hands - if they don't already."
So my question to the 'police source' is if the gangs are dangerous, attending public sports grounds, and likely 'known to', what are the Police doing about it???...

They are too busy trying to fine the good public as soon as they inadvertently slip up. There's more money in fining people than there is in keeping thugs off streets.

Hopefully the '6 agains' stay as low as they did last night... Great to see the bunker has maintained its ability to get the obvious wrong several times a game... Bring on the footy!!!...
