This gives Latrell an advantage over other players who were not racially qualified for selection.

Burton is a good player, all combinations have their strong/weak points.
Weak point of Burton & Averillo might be end if set options, strong point is the running game.

On the trial itself the missed trap from Avo on the kick off got us off to the worst possible start,.
Then first half we stood too shallow and service from dummy-half was slow and occasionally inaccurate.
On some plays the defence was right on top of the half giving them little time to kick.

But the halves should have stood deeper.

Someone like Burto can make a difference just by being composed and getting into good positions, or by running.

For the Pangai kick, Wakes had no time to kick and choose to run, right decision, the ball was flopped out to Pangai who kicked, right decision, while the kick was wobbly, a more committed chase might have got a result, often a kick is only as good as the chase.

If we want to avoid the problem, Wakes should stand deeper and he needs good service.

Whst I liked about Cook was speed, he played fast and plenty of times the halves were over the add line.
Unfortunately a lot of that great service was ruined by simply passing the ball across the field, halves had to pick up an runner inside or outside 2 passes- 1. dummy-half to half. 2. Half to runner, fast play the ball and repeat

So overall we are too shallow and try to play around the opposition too much.

I don't know if that is bad coaching, bad habits or simply the players are not good enough. 

Lots of new players and some selection decisions to be made, might take a while to build combinations.

I thought we had a case where a player (can't  remember  who) could not be selected for origin due to suspension so it couldn't  count because he wasn't  selected. The limited selection criteria is what sets this game apart. Whether  or not he plays the All Stars game I don't  care, but I believe  he should serve his full suspension in club games.

In terms of Dufty possibly moving to the halves, Credence, Casey and Averillo can play fullback.

The Fox and Naden can plsy fullback.

Casey is quite good at fullback.

I would not move Dufty now becuase in attack should havles should have 3 options.

1. Pass to a runner - ofen TPJ or Hethro
2. Pass to Dufty 
3. Run.

If we are trying to playing around sides, Dufty is the man to throw the final ball, I would keep him at fullback for now.

If a player is considered a selection for SOO then he’s suspended from SOO and it counts as part if his suspension. His they determine his likely selection or not I got no idea.

But they do and SOO is s limited selection criteria too so all the precedent was there on Mitchell’s side once The NRL decided he was suspended from the All Star game.

Once they did, it had to count.

If you watch Alien backwards, it’s about a large monster that shrinks and jumps inside a bloke’s chest - calming a panicking crew.

…. so much so they have a nap.

The system is slightly unfair not all players are eligible for SOO or All Stars.

A better solution is serve the suspension in the arena where it was triggered or make suspensions specific.
For example a suspension could be 3 NRL games + 1 SOO + 1 All Stars, with the higher grade comp suspensions converting to NRL at the end of the the season if not served.

In the case of Latrell those handing down the suspension knew All Stars was coming.

While more complex a lesser suspension could simply be 2 NRL games making Latrell eligible for All Stars.

Except for major offences, I want NRL suspensions served in the NRL.

An added bonus is sn offence in SOO might be a suspension of 1 SOO game, the players NRL club is unaffected.

IMO this isn't too complex.
