+x+xOur play the balls took more than 30% longer than the Storm. This is a recurrent stat, but last week was the worse. We surely need to identify the problem, correct it or highlight it if the problem is external. It is not the reason we were beaten, but imagine the difference if the stat was reversed. It’s the start of all our problems. And it’s been that way for years. We need to be running over the advantage line and getting to our feet much quicker. It also would help if we had a hooker that was screaming at the ref and his teammates. The Storm held us down all game. They out wrestled us. It’s pretty simple.  The PTB time starts when the ref calls held or release. Any wrestle should then end. The ref's leniency then becomes a factor. This is what needs analysing.

I am glad Reed is coming next season and Kicks. I am still a bit surprised Cook isn't getting a shot. Agreed. Once we have Kiks and Mahoney next year I feel that a lot of our problems will disappear. Burto will have space our halfback will have time. Finally our Panthers attack will look decent. Baz needs to decide on our backline for next year. And keep them together this year

I don’t buy into conspiracy theories that refs deliberately penalise some teams more than others.
However bias is a human trait that refs possess. We need to mitigate this as much as is possible. We can control certain things. Our wrestle without the ball is terrible and needs to improve. Our urgency in the ptb with the ball is also terrible and needs to improve. Plus having good communication with the ref will help.

And keep them together this year Suprisingly the centres are not set. Burns looks a better option than Naden, but I'm not 100% convinced. Averillo looks like a long term prospect, but still not 100% convincing. Schoupp looks good to me, not sure why he isn't playing. When the dummy-half and forwards make yards, get quick PTBs and we have overlaps or one-on-one the halves and backs have a chance. Anyone who impresses with slow service and against multiple well set defenders is a candidate, but maybe Tommy Turbo would struggle at times in our backline. Special mention to Duffty, who has impressed with limited time and space. I've totally reversed my opinion on Duffty he is one of our better players. Naden is the biggest disappointment, I expected a lot more.

Fox, Naden etc look poor because they can’t inject themselves.
Our game plan will work when Mahoney comes over next year. Because our ball speed from dummy half will improve. But we need to improve our wrestle before we are a contender

There definately is a bias toward certain teams and it's visible every game.

I'm not sure Munster is what we need. If we are signing a half, they should be an experienced halfback.

With Mahoney, Burton and Munster at 9, 6 and 1, we'd only really need an organiser at 7 rather than a gun. But yeah, don't think I'd be going all in for Munster.

+x+x+x+x+xOur play the balls took more than 30% longer than the Storm.

There definately is a bias toward certain teams and it's visible every game. 3 seconds is pushing it. Can somebody post the stats. I doubt there’s much more than a second in it.
To explain how teams are better at holding down at the play the ball and getting up quicker when they have the ball. They are coached to do so. It’s a skill. It’s hard to be good at. But very hard to be great at. It’s why every team has a wrestling coach.
Do you honestly believe the refs are betting on games/instructed by the NRL to allow teams to hold down other teams for an extra second to ensure they win? If refs were that good at their jobs that they could do that they wouldn’t get so many other decisions incorrect.
It’s almost like saying that all the world leaders got together to create a virus to control people

Munster would be a huge signing for us. Fullback would be the best position for him. But happy to play him in the halves. He doesn’t fit in to Bazs game plan at 7 though.

Looks like outside shoulder applies unless the try is scored against the dogs.

+x+x+x+x+x+xOur play the balls took more than 30% longer than the Storm.
I don’t buy into conspiracy theories that refs deliberately penalise some teams more than others.  I do..... how fo you explain then that say with one team the ref cslls held and the players will continue wrestling for 3 or 4 seconds until the player is finally on the ground and this is ignored yet other teams if they haven't released or began to peel off after 2 seconds they get penalised.
It’s almost like saying that all the world leaders got together to create a virus to control people   Well said mate. I'll add to that and say if the refs were THAT good, they'd be in a high paying job, not an nrl ref job. How much do nrl refs get anyway?

+x+xLooks like outside shoulder applies unless the try is scored against the dogs.  Very annoying. Since we complained the refs have changed their stance.  I hate the bloody rule. If the defender has no chance in stopping the try, it should never be called obstruction. And on that Knights try, Foran had no chance to stop it, or even influence his outside players. It was so fast and the contact was far away from the ball that i had to watch it 4 times before i spotted anyone remotely obstructed....

Yes, Plenty of times you can't see the defence getting there, then on occasion you see the miracle ankle tap. I suppose you could say a player in front of the ball is no longer a decoy (he can't get the ball) so he's jest a pest in the defensive line they shouldn't have to deal with.

Outside shoulder collision penalty. People complain. If they give the refs the chance to call it how they see it. People scream cheating bias.

Micko,  let's cut to the core... a rule is put into place to preclude any actions or play that is not deemed part of the fabric of the game, therefore It has to be black and white  you either can or you can't. Once the words "intepretation or discretion" is added it is no longer a rule but a procedure or instruction and the sooner V'Landys and Annersley realise this the smoother the game will flow.

But I’m happy to see black and white rules so coaches can’t bend them, captains can’t work the refs and fans can be happy that the best team wins.

I’m not a fan of Flanno. But I hope he has a blinder and compliments Burto. I’m also happy for Avo to stay in the centres. He should find his best game there in the long term. Allamoti is due back from injury soon so hopefully he takes the other centre position. Long term our team is looking good.
Fullback could be anybody. If we sign Dufty up fir a few years he is our best option. If not and we somehow land Munster he should play there. If not hopefully somebody is playing in the lower grades and will make the position their own.
Wingers Fox and Naden are certainly our best options. But it’s a position that many young backs will be pushing for.
Centres Avo and Allamoti. Should develop into a great combination. Both have very different attributes.
Halves Burto and Flanno. Young but they both have ability. Personally I would love for us to sign an experienced game managing halfback. But Flanno can become that. Hopefully he does.
Middle forwards. Thommo, Pangai, Jacko, Vaughan, Sutton, Topine, Patolo, King. Good long term pack.
Edge forwards. Kiks, RFM, Waddel and Hetho. Need another edge if RFM retires hurt.
 Hooker. Mahoney.
 Utility. BBO.
Probably need to keep developing spine players. Just in case one of the above leaves or doesn’t work out. Keep buying cheap forwards like King and Vaughan. The future team looks very strong. Even if Baz fails coaches will be lining up with the talent we have.

I don't get how posters complain about our Coaches playing people out of position eg Naden or Ava then go on to say things like 'Foxx for fullback", "Munster to fullback", "Biden for President", "Tolman to hooker"... "Burton to centre"... "Villi to TK"...
It reminds of the Cows putting Granville to FB last year...

If im defending and a decoy comes at me, all I have to do is position myself to be contacted on the shoulder closest to the ball side and fall like lump of shit, and then jump up and raise my hands in the air! That should do it.

It reminds of the Cows putting Granville to FB last year...  I personally liked the "Tolman to retirement" but now that he plays for someone other than us, I hope he plays another 10 years!

Funnily enough heard him interviewed a few days ago and he was talking about playing at least a couple more years...
