+x+x+xMicko,  let's cut to the core... a rule is put into place to preclude any actions or play that is not deemed part of the fabric of the game, therefore It has to be black and white  you either can or you can't. Once the words "intepretation or discretion" is added it is no longer a rule but a procedure or instruction and the sooner V'Landys and Annersley realise this the smoother the game will flow. I agree. It would make the game much easier to adjudicate. The spectacle might not be as enjoyable though. But I’m happy to see black and white rules so coaches can’t bend them, captains can’t work the refs and fans can be happy that the best team wins.  Ok so I get it now.... If im defending and a decoy comes at me, all I have to do is position myself to be contacted on the shoulder closest to the ball side and fall like lump of shit, and then jump up and raise my hands in the air! That should do it. If he's in front of the ball he can't receive it, so no longer a decoy, just a pest in the defensive line

Re 360 and Flanagan "set up to fail, "duty of care" crap. He's the most experienced and oldest of the contenders so I assume the concern is psychological not physical. Given that from within the organisation he would be getting support, encouragement and positivity it is in fact people like 360 that are the main contributors to any self doubt or psychological problems he might have. Unfortunately these football types see everything through the prism of a football where in fact these situations occur regularly in real life.

Watching the Broncos it’s very obvious how beneficial having a packed home stadium is. The ref may as well be wearing a Brisbane jersey. We need to push for that Liverpool stadium or play the majority of games at Parra stadium.

+xWith all the talk about Kyle. Is it a ploy to take the heat off Burto?  Quite possibly. Burton has been rather underwhelming as far as being a dominant halve. If he wants to elevate himself into one of the top halves in the comp, he needs to go looking for the ball rather than having it passed to him.

He is clearly getting the ball when a chance is on. He will get the ball more later in his career. But currently it’s best he gets it when he sees an opportunity. Not when the team is under pressure.

+x+x+xWith all the talk about Kyle. Is it a ploy to take the heat off Burto?  Quite possibly. Burton has been rather underwhelming as far as being a dominant halve. If he wants to elevate himself into one of the top halves in the comp, he needs to go looking for the ball rather than having it passed to him. Agree and disagree. He is clearly the dominant kicker. He is clearly getting the ball when a chance is on. He will get the ball more later in his career. But currently it’s best he gets it when he sees an opportunity. Not when the team is under pressure.  It's  all going to take time. What people are expecting from Burton is something he's  never had to do at Penrith. Remember his big breakout year was at centre not in the halves.

Agree Baz should not have him locked to one side of the field... The first trial the halves were linonjg on both sides and I've not seen much of that since...

Burton apparently played in the halves in the lower grades and maybe a handful of games spaced widely apart at the Panthers. Our issues are deeper than one player. If could be Averillo and Wakeham got the ball with nothing on, and passed the problem on to Burton. They were coached to unlock his running game, but after round 1 the opposition expected it. We don't have a lot of punch up the middle with forwards running on to a good pass over the advantage line and we don't throw inside passes or have angled runners, we also don't often have 2nd rowers running a line on the edges. Flanno might be enough to mix it up and get some variety happening. If Burton and Flanno don't work, stop changing the halves and try changing the starting hooker. I wouldn't even mind Wakeham starting instead of JMK, that is becuase Wakeham will try things, and we might surprise the opposition.

Keep them together for the rest of the year to firm combinations with the rest of the team and each other. Keep players in the position we want to play them long term.
We don’t have a hooker that is anything like Mahoney. So I agree sticking Wakes in their might be best. At least his passes hit the mark.
The latest from Dufty is that he wants to stay so just hurry up and sign him for a couple of years and let the spine get to know each other.

The latest from Dufty is that he wants to stay so just hurry up and sign him for a couple of years and let the spine get to know each other.  I  also think that it is wrong to blame the halves for every loss when so many other aspects of the side are not working. Last season the halves threw a lot of bad passes and did a lot of bad kicks, also missed tackles and dropped ball. This season most aspects have improved the defence has generally improved. But compare us to the Storm and Panthers every player does their job for the full 80 mins, mistakes are rare, defence is very good and most passes are out in front. It is lots of little details, but particularly not dropping off or going through the motions in attack and defence. For the halves Baz has to decide soon and give the preferred combination 5 games together. Keep TPJ in the middle, find the right backline and again stick for 5 weeks baring injury / suspension. I would like to finalse the preferred team no later than week 6 and run with it. Maybe Topine/Stimson  should start on the edge with Jacko/Tommo going back to the bench? Tommo isn't a great fit for a starting prop. The other option is start King instead of Tommo. Again decide on the right formula by week 6 and stick to it,

The more I see of Ilias the more I’m convinced Souths made the right call re Reynolds.
Would they be a better team with Reynolds season ‘22? Absolutely. And season season ‘23 too. But by that time they would’ve lost Ilias.

He’s a better prospect than the much hyped and over-rated Walker… by plenty. Illias can do everything Walker can do… except goal kick… without the need for the Hail Mary cut out passes and he can defend, well.

Hope one of our Flegg prospects can graduate like he has.

Good decision. Similar to when they let Sandow go for an up and coming kid named Adam Reynolds.

Parra allowed to lay in the ruck way too long so far inside Titans 40...  Should easily have had 2-3 penalties go against them...

+xParra allowed to lay in the ruck way too long so far inside Titans 40...  Should easily have had 2-3 penalties go against them...  This is the discrepancy in PTB speed I go on about. It varies from tackle to tackle, ref to ref, game to game. I realise it all goes back to the need to allow players to get back under the 10 metre rule but it's not evenly policed. Discretion leads to distortion.

+x+xParra allowed to lay in the ruck way too long so far inside Titans 40... It's been very aPARRAnt tonight ..  Titans cant get a set restarts, Parra getting one on the 4th or 5th several times...

Wwll the coaches and players have yet again done a great job of making a mockery of an 'innovation' that was never required in the captain's challenge...
Let's see what mid season rule the NRLol makes this week to fix yet another ill conceived 'innovation'...

On another note, how the hell Moses didn't get binned for playing at the ball when Titans running back for a 20m restart is beyond me...

Some players are deemed good guys some are deeme bad guys. Same with teams.
