Who says he is down?
The form he is displaying is exactly what we have seen in the last 4 or 5 years. There has been no improvement.

He is now dropped because Pay has decided there is no point flogging a dead horse. He in fact you thank Pay who threw him a lifeline as even Des looked like he had enough of him in 2017.

Des wasn't the bloke who signed the cheques ...the fault was Dib's and the kiwi bint. Okay he probably didn't help but again flogging a dead horse. He was not the one who fekked up the salary cap. That was a boardroom stuffup and the board room was adjusted accordingly.

I wouldnt consider him off the hook that easy....
Yes he didnt sign cheques but I would be extremely surprised (and concerned) if there is a first grade coach who isnt aware if the cap situation to within 95%. When they say they dont it actually means they know 100%.

Villi I am not as nutty as you think...it is pretty apparent that Michael Lichaa is not going to be a main player going forward and that has been said any number of times. But why not leave it at that. Gnu Brown is in the team this week...see how he goes. I would think that means Foran is going to play and he will be a backup for backs and forwards. But in accepting that Lichaa is not going to be part of the team why does he have to be the subject of every second post...we didn't miss the point in the 10,001 other posts. Okay he hasn't shown the graduation to first grade based on the promise of lower grades...but bashing anyone when they are down is not the best look

And not defending Des here but stating the overlooked obvious...in 2012 the number of errors we made in the first half was the reason we lost. Go back and watch it. Melbourne took every opportunity.  In 2014 we didn't have Ennis and it was a Souths wankfest and the scores were level at the 60 minute mark.

Yep in 2014 we were the support act,,,, 2012 was an opportunity missed.

What Lynne said about Des is spot on IMO, he was under too much pressure to get results and given a free hand, he took short-cuts and kicked the can down the road.
Given the opportunity, most coaches do that, wins count, failure is usually someone else's problem.

If should have been apparent to the board after 1-2 seasons that the squad was not improving and Des was making some diabolical recruitment and retention decisions.....
I think Des thought he was getting it right, but the results don't lie..

Des also lost the plot in the style of  football he had us playing 2015-2017 again that is something many coaches do, they can be stubborn, especially when under pressure.
Not much the board can do about that, other than change coach,,,,, perhaps that should have happened 1 year earlier, but overall Des had an OK record at our club.

Anyway it is ancient history now...

Well said..

A stint in the lower grades may sort his game, or he may do better at another club...

When elite sportsman touted in some quarters as the next big thing, it is quite a setback losing confidence, being dropped and dream of a sporting career seem to evaporate.

We can't play him in the NRL if he isn't up to the required standard, no need to kick the guy when he is down.

His family should drop the subject, do his talking on the field.

Plenty of players have been dropped, and needed to prove the coach wrong. The ball is always in the players court, either here, or at the next club.

What’s wrong with him?

Didnt Lichaa have some family member do the same thing under Des when he was last off contract?

Sh1t happens..... move on Lichaa, unfortunately it hasn’t worked out between the Club & the player.

He he should be thanking the club that gave him another 2yrs when no other club wanted him....

Likely he has been dropped, needs to fix his game in reserve grade.
The family should accept the fact that he currently isn't up to NRL standard.

Hope he likes England....

Funny thing is Broncos have a lot of talent,... putting in a lot of effort... but players clock off at bad times and don't work together in defence.

Bennett is a defensive coach, Seibold is an attacking coach, or so it seems.

If the Broncos fix their defence they will win more games...

There would be players 2 months into the season being tapped on the shoulder (like Nikorima etc) told their services won’t be needed in 2020....

Players at Cowboys, Penrith, Bronco’s due to poor start to the season & high expectations will be offered up I reckon

I hope the Dogs can jag a bargain or two

I watched a bit of the Canberra / Manly game, I still do not know what to expect.

Manly had a lot of ball 2nd half, and made some good off loads, if they get on top, they can score quickly.....

They have big physical forwards and outside backs which we need to handle..... that is the bad news...

The  neither team looked particularly slick or well drilled in attack, both seemed to play slowly, both defended well.

But the Manly attack seems a bit ad-hoc and unstructured, if we defend well, they might start pushing offloads... we can turn some of them into errors....

In attack we want to move them around, and force the outside backs into making decisions..

So in summary..... they may be more physical, we may be more cohesive..
