More talk about high speed rail by the government.
I cant help but laugh...

What do they consider "high speed"? 180kph?

There is no "high speed" rail in this country.
Even suburban rail running at 60kph grind to a halt when it either rains or it hits above 35 degrees or a mouse runs across the tracks..... c as n you imagine a roo or wombat gets slaughtered by the fast train?

And that's not even constructing it.
They'll probably come across a family of worms that cant be displaced and will introduce an S bend that slows the trains to 40kph - conveniently!

Blame gutless,   small minded, no vision politicians:  not the worm family.

Hoppa & Mrs Dman are both centres HD.

The topic was the clubs Wingers... all I’m suggesting is we have no depth/quality on the Wings.

We are banking on Smith & Crichton who both have less than a season in 1st grade to score us at least 20+ tries

As for a couple of young guys.... who ever they are, if they are outside the Top 30, they can’t be used in NRL team

Young guys can be used after june 30, 4 development players. 2 are outside backs.

Other than R Smith, the rest aren't very pacy….
The fall back options of Holland and Hoppa or even Meany are solid enough if we get into strife with injuries, suspensions etc.
Wont get us 25+ tries in the season but you never know. A lot will come down to what the halves can create.

That's true, they are not gun wingers, but if the halves can feed them quality ball in good position, anything can happen.

ODF that is why I was pleased to us practising slick passing in off season training.

Our players will look much better if we move the ball faster and get players running at disorganised defensive lines.

I don't think out outside backs at that bad, Smith, Holland and Hoppa can be a handful at times.

I would sum up this season by saying we don't have many outstanding individuals in any position, but NRL is a team game.
If we combine well as a team, and play a good style, we might surprise a few people. We also have to run with the players we have, not imagine we can recruit our way of of trouble.,

So who are going to be our centres? Dutchy combines very well with Reimis Smith so assume that is one side....Hoppa was so much better in the PM (post M'bye) period when he was at fullback but is Meaney ready for first grade at fullback and would be weakening the team by playing Hoppa in the centre? On 2018 form Montoya would not be a consideration

For centres probably Dutchy and Hoppa initially with Lewis, Smith, Olive, Montoya and Harper also options.

I'm not sure what to do with Hoppa he is a good player, but was ordinary and centre and good at fullback last season, but I still think he is too slow to be a fullback.
Meaney is a long term bet, but might need to be eased into it.
Montoya was ordinary last  season as was Olive. one or both might improve, Montoya is more worrying as he seems to have lost pace.
I will not be surprised if Harper make his NRL debut in June/July and stays in the team.
Improving the side is mainly dependent on young guys stepping up.

We finally have good depth in the spine positions, even if other positions look weaker in comparison to previous seasons, but we played crap football 2016/2017 and most of 2018, that is the primary thing we need to change.

I was under the impression Harper wasnt listed in the top 30? Someone posted a list on here not long ago and I made the comment then.

Silly in my opinion as I reckon he could play wing if needed to.

Harper is one of 4 development squad players all can play NRL after June 30,

3 of them look like they are potentially good enough for NRL, but it is hard for young guys to step up in their first season.

Like Lewis last year, there is something about Harper that suggests he is a quick learner who will step up well.

I said 3 as i don't know much about Anderson, this is what the site says:-

"Jarred Anderson is in the second of a three-year deal after arriving at Belmore from the Sydney Roosters in 2018.

Anderson is a strong carrier of the ball who can play in the back row or centre and represented Scotland during the 2017 Rugby League World Cup".

So if he is any good, Anderson could be another option for centre. That would make it 4 out of 4.

Harper is the prototype center physique. Big, tall, strong, long strider, a little bit scary, porn star moustache.

If he brings half the skill-set to match he's gonna be some player. And he's looked good whenever I've seen him, which admittedly hasn't been much, but still good never the less. Real good.

Really hope he forces his way into the team post June 30, because that'll mean he has been bringing it. And he's one of the players of the future we need to bring it.

There's a video that's gone a little viral on Twitter, which i can't post here because, well it's on Twitter, but anyway maybe you've seen it elsewhere on news or whatever -

It's Kohli - his net session yesterday.

Now he's hardly missing a shot, but what's truly remarkable about it is the audio - when he hits them, they sound rifle shots. big bolt-action rifle shots. Man this bloke is middling it, smashing the f***in' cover off it.

So.... watch out. He's coming.

I have to admit Kohli is a talent a very dominant player in this era.

The key is probably to get him early a few times, that has to pace, consistently in the right areas, some variation or him getting impatient when he isn't scoring.
Or someone like Starc producing an uplayable ball.

We have kept him quiet previously, but I think he means business this tour, our bowlers have to view it as a challenge.
Like the Dogs Aust cricket is rebuilding, our batting at least, the bowling is good, but if they don't get Kohli early,  it is going to be an up hill battle all series.
