+xIf Renouf T is still out, Francis Tualau might get a go. Depends if they bring in just one forward or more. Danny seems most likely if it's just one. I don't think it'd be wise for 3 backrowers on the bench this time around. It'd be a difficult decision to replace Lichaa for an extra bopper too because if anything happened to JMK early it'd be tough getting a 2nd rower playing #9 for most of the match, for that reason I think he'll still be there. We also need to cover injuries for the backs 14 is Lichaa, Holland or Brown, that position is partially a cover for injuries. Even if we had an 80 minute #9 they might get injured, limited time is because they are saving the interchange until they are sure injuries are not likely to be a factor. Personally I would consider moving Holland to #14 against Souths and possibly starting with him for the first 15-20 mins. If Harper isn't ready move CHN to the centres and promote RFM, perhaps even do all of this as we need to roll the dice against Souths, Lichaa really has had limited opportunities, but has come on and does his job, he has been OK in the last 2 games. But he doesn't offer the game changing spark we want from a 14, I would be happy for Pay to roll the dice and try a few new things this game, I'm not sure how Souths are travelling, but I think we might need surprise element to win this week.

+x+x+x+x+x+xFor want of a better word, our defence n the middle was a bit too "passive" against ST Merge. Perhaps we missed Napa or no one specifically took up that role. The Sue tackle on Vaughan was a bit similar to the incident in which Foran got injured, I guess what is counting against Sue is late timing, not looking like an accident and not being in a try scoring movement. So we just have to assume Sue is out for 2 weeks. It is a change for Danny F to show that he want s to play NRL, Danny is a solid nuggety build, I always expect him to do more damage... I've sent Danny a text to fire him up, I told him Dman said he plays soft, I've included Dman's address, in case Danny wants to confirm it first hand... :) I was tired by the time I watched the match so not everything was as memorable as it normally would be. It wasn't until the next day that I read a small paragraph about Jesse Sue getting Vaughn (or is it Vaughan) & another saints player. I remember Vaughn leaving the field looking like he was in some pain, probably in more ways than one, so when I read about the likely suspension for 3 weeks for his incidents on Vaughn & the other guy I thought Sue may have belted them too high. Considering the score, I probably should've done what Marki did & put the Hawthorn match on instead, at least I would've caught up with some sleep at the time. Seems like Danny will get his chance again. They'll need their biggest guys on deck this week, they're not really winning the forwards battle without them, so I wouldn't be surprised if Renouf.T is back as well. I didn't think Danny did too bad earlier in the year, but certainly not perfect. With any luck, being in the run on side in reggies has given him some match fitness getting him ready to go again. I just hope they all keep improving & get another competitive performance in. It wasn't a good result the other day, too error prone, too much premeditated passing etc & I'm starting to think it may have happened once too often this year. I hope Pay does the right thing today & names a better balanced bench Lichaa’s 10mins isn’t helping anyone. We need Renouf T & I’d throw in the mix RFM as well who’d take Sue’s spot The more things change the more they stay the same...Lichaa still the whipping boy So Lichaa’s 10min game time is a great tactic for both team & player himself? Surely you can see that Steve? With no Napa, we’re clearly short on size up front hence why I believe both Renouf T & RFM would be better suited I definitely think Renouf could be a first grader with an impact as he can not only mess up the line but also slip a pass. But alas he hasn't played this year as yet and I think it said back week 8..so as good as that would be it isn't going to happen yet. If JMK could play full 80 I would be happier. But none of the sorry asses whoplayed NSW Cup the last two weeks really deserve a first grade spot. That may have also been said about Meany and Okunbor but they have taken their chances and if JO could catch we would be a lot better off. Meany has been great.

I haven't watched much of Souths either. I saw a lot of the Manly v Souths one but that's about it. Manly got the competition points by a field goal, but it was more a case of Souths lost the match than Manly winning it. Adam Reynolds did some good kicks earlier in it but was shocking at the end when it counted most & dumb play the ball errors by their forwards gave away possession when they should've been getting their own field goal (more than once) to wrap it up. And when they did take a few kicks for fg they were wide. They really did lose it themselves that day. Guys like Damian Cook & Cody Walker have been playing very well for them lately, so they'll be hard to stop scoring tries. I think they've moved Kyle Turner to centre, so your idea of CHN to centre might not be a bad idea to tighten up the defence on the edge.

That is my thinking the 21 man squad is cut down to 19 man squad .... I expect Ray to be in the 19 man squad... What I think can happen is if Ray is in the 19, he can make the cut for the final 17. Normally the 19 is to cover injuries, but I think late tactical changes can be done. Normally Pay doesn't do this kind of thing ,,,, but he might do it.

+xI think there is unfortunately couple more floggings to happen this year.There is Just nothing in reserve grade. Very long year ahead. Could well be the case. Mostly what we are looking for this season is signs of progress and hope for future seasons..... We do have some players in reserve grade with some potential or good players out injured, but really only another 3-5 NRL standard players outside the current 17. Reserve grade also seems young/inexperienced so we are looking to develop players there. By June 30 we may be able to plug a few holes.... The thing is sport is games are not won on paper, names and reputations mean nothing, desire, effort and execution count for a lot. So the challenge for our young guys is to keep turning up each week and keep improving, the challenge for fans is to be encouraging and supportive in a difficult season and if the players are trying hard and playing well, give them support. We can still be critical where criticism is warranted, but no point in expecting this team to win the comp that is a 500/1 shot. If you have played team sport, you know momentum can flip in a game and it can be a complete 180 from what is was, momentum can also flip in a season, but both outcomes depend on effort and desire, and mostly importantly not giving up.

Again, how is it fair they can now into the market, purchase whoever, even front load payments for 2019, to give them more space for 2020 & onwards etc?

Isn't that typically inconsistent from the NRL after the way they treated Robbie Farah & the Tigers...
But I suppose the Wests Tigers Leagues club didn't report to the NRL that they'd hired a gardener/cleaner, so the wage has to come out of the first grade squads salary cap...
And whatever you do, don't quote a book in your private blog or you'll be sacked for offending someone that wouldn't be/shouldn't be subscribed to such a blog in the first place....

Not a league post & history/education isn't for everyone, but having read all his previous non-fiction books I did learn a heck of a lot & look forward to ordering in the latest book as well. On the Izzy thing, I'm not taking sides & I could understand if he'd gone on a totally offensive tirade full of deliberate insults, expletives, naming names & so on, in which case he'd certainly be in the wrong beyond redemption, but just quoting the one thing from his book that every atheist already knows it contains (even if they never have or never will read it in its entirety, nor should they have to if they've chosen an alternate way of life) that "non-believers & homo's will go to hell", good grief, it just seems to me like it's politically incorrect madness that's sunk to a new low.

All they had to do is say .... we don't agree with what Izzy said, we are fining him 50K and standing him down for 2 months ... The real issue is, he probably isn't value for money on his current contract, so any excuse to break it is good..... The lesson here is when you are not value for money .. shut up .... plenty of time to say you piece after you retire...
