Reimis Smith has such a smooth running style that his pace is deceptive. Some great passing between he, Hoppa and Holland for his first. Great all round performance against Marki's team.

Next time we make a GF I want Marki to say that we are no hope of winning, then I'm off to put a large bet on the Dogs.

Marki could stop the XPT.

Thank fekk (I mean that in the nicest way) that Montoya got injured.....

Smith has not put a foot wrong, he’s scored tries galore, shown plenty of speed and has combined well with Jackson and Holland (big surprise Holland’s consistent form)

Great game and big FU to all the wrist slitters out there that were beying for Dean Pays blood. All it needed was patience and to let the young blokes get familiar with the rigors of first grade before they could re-form those lower grade combinations. The finish to the season sees us in solid form going into next year and gives the fans some hope of an entertaining future.

Pay promoted Smith into the team ahead of Montoya before Montoya got injured though. Montoya got injured playing reserve grade. Remember it was the night at belmore against the Raiders.

The demons of desball have been exorcised with that performance.
Backing up, running lines, offloading, kicking for repeat sets just playing footy and what was in front of them
And best of all players tackling around the legs and stopping the opponents progress and slowing the play down.

I love it

Yes, very well summed up.
Great effort the last few weeks and it culminated in today's thrashing.
The team now has variety in attack and it is resulting in more room as the opposition defence has to hold a split second or hesitate. The ability to use the speed and skill from out wide is also sharing the workload better.
It all stems from the kicking game and variety in attack from the halves. Who would have thought...

What a great weekend all round...

1) Parra lose and all but guaranteed the spoon
2) Hawks beat Swans by a small enough margin in order to jag 4th spot for finals and play a "home" final at mcg
3) Roosters lose
4) QPR win first game of season
5) Dogs thrash Saints

Couldnt have hoped for anything else....

Where was that all season? We are currently the form team of the comp, with a 4-1 record from the last 5 games. Hopefully we can carry this into next season.

(P.S. Hi guys. I'm from the main 442 forum that this became linked with. Was going to say hi a week or so back but couldn't tell if this was a thread for Doggies supporters or a more random group due to all the other discussions).

Hey Kamaryn.
The Bulldogs Debate Page started on rleague.com decades ago. Eventually the guys that owned it sold it to punters.com, who in turn eventually shut down rleague.com.
The BDP continued on punters.com, however there was a mass exodus to facebook when someone was unfairly banned by a bot. The number of posters were down but it continued for years regardless. Eventually & recently, due to new legislation regarding sports content having to be kept separate from racing content, we had to find a more appropriate place to continue the rugby league talk. Yes, it sure does stray off track sometimes to everything from current affairs, movies, politics & other sports etc. I guess it has kept it alive when the rugby league chatter fizzles out between matches, off-season etc.

Earlier in the season our kicking game was clearly the worst in the comp, we put a lot of effort into games but a lack of strike in attack, a tendency to play DesBall and a poor kicking game meant there was a lot of pressure on defence, completions. We were also unsettled, and lacking luck.

Lewis has made a big difference, and you can see our old kicking game every time Frawley kicks.

We should carry some of this into next season, but we do need to replace the Morris twins who have been excellent.

But we will get a few new players, and a few players back from injury.

On this form I'm looking forward to next season, even allowing for a few hiccups , we should make the 8.

I agree with Pay there should be competition for places and we should be able to build on what we have done this year.

Everybody is asking.. "where's this form been all season?"............. Answer..... It was being nurtured. Pay knew what he wanted but also knew that it had to evolve and develope. I personally think we still have a lot more room for improvement and if future re-incarnations of this current lot reach their full potential, they are going to hard to stop.

Yes that is also true.

It took a while for players to unlearn what they have spend 5 years learning and learn something new.

We like to imagine rejigging an style can be done in an off season, but most success is several years in the making.

The good part is next season we will be able to build on what we have learned this season and you can see that the players are enjoying playing footy, they don't want to go back to DesBall.

It's Lewis and his kicking game. There are other factors at play obviously but the biggest factor is Lewis. And it's not only the results we are getting from his kicking game it's the positive impact that is having on the rest of the team. They know their hard work in defence and rucking the ball out of our half in attack will be rewarded.

One of the best things about yesterday was seeing the confidence they have now. Not just content with the win but actually playing aggressively until the 80th minute. Superb.

He is a player who instils a lot of confidence in the rest but how good were the chasers...especially Brett and Josh Morris,,,reckon had he played against Manly we would have been 5 from 5

Nice. Well good to be aboard. My first league memory is as a child crying up a tree because the Doggies lost the 94 Grand Final :)

Glad to find a group where people are active. I was hoping there would be something on Reddit but it's pretty dead.

They missed a chance to reuse the cardboard Lichaa.

I don't want to see cardboard cutouts of the players leaving.

Each player getting a presentation of something like a medal and a certificate which lists their playing record would be great. i.e. something dignified and useful. The presentations can be done at the Leagues club after the game, or in the sheds before/after the game.

But before the game is better, then the players could wear the medals for a lap of honour after the game.
