+x+xYeah, letting cool and ennis go bad... Thing for me with the big mouth was his passing game never improved over that time... And allegedly that and tackling was all he had to do... I say never put in the extras to improve that aspect of his game, and it is his fault and his fault alone no other club in the world has picked him up... And coming out saying he ignored the coach the last month of 2017 didn’t help either... just what a prospective coach wants to hear... So he’s been working as a Foreman hey.... I’d hate to see what he’s building?

I must say I am happy with Smith in the centres and I think the round 1 back-line probably pick itself...
1. DWZ. 2. Meaney 3. Smith. 4. Hoppa 5. Okunbour
6. Lewis 7. Cogger(/Wakeham)
I would give Cogger the nod at the start of the season purely on more NRL experience... But Wakeham would also be a good pick..

The forwards are not so straightforward especially if we want Katoa on the bench, it is risky to run without a bench utility that can cover halves and hooker, so Katoa is probably in unless someone like Stimson can cover in the halves and Cogger can move to 9... So my best guess at this stage is:- 8 Napa 9 JMK 10 Renouf T 11 CHN 12 Stimson 13. Jacko 14. Katoa 15. Tolman 16 Odgen 17. RFM 19, Elliott. Anyway it will be interesting to see what team Pay picks, there are a number of options in the forwards...

Agree with back 5, I think seeing Remis get some early ball will be pretty exciting... Re Harry’s partner in the halves, I’m picking the bloke in best form during trials...

Same with pack and bench for me re trial form... realistically on end of season firm Elliot easily aged of Ogden... but like I say... trials should determine which gets the start... Am most interested in what happens with JJ, plenty of us calling for a move to lock last pre season and didn’t happen...

Am most interested in what happens with JJ, plenty of us calling for a move to lock last pre season and didn’t happen... Yeah trails are a good guide.... The reason I'm more confident about moving JJ to lock this time is, we have Stimson... and I think both him and CHN have strong claims on starting 2nd rower spots.. What has me most excited and confident about the season is the back 5, IMO, Meaney, Smith and Okunbor have the kind of pace that can make things happen, DWZ is a competitor who runs hard, and Hoppa has a lot of class, and throws some nice passes... DWZ need to improve his passing and play selection, he isn't a natural ball playing fullback, on the edges I think both CHN and Stimson (if it turns out that is the team) have some smarts and ball playing ability... There are downsides, if we want to look for them, but in most sports there is nothing like speed for making things happen....

If you have 2 big metre eating props with presence and an offload, the rest of the pack can be smaller more mobile and more skilful. Traditional 1970s-1990s style football, before 3 big middle forwards.... 3 big middle forwards is, the era of the wrestle, slow play the balls and block plays.... the aspects of the game I don't like... I prefer a fast up tempo game with skill..... you need up tempo to have a small lock... momentum is a combination of size and speed, so if smaller guys have time to get moving, they are effective...

+x+x+x+x+x+x+xI must say I am happy with Smith in the centres and I think the round 1 back-line probably pick itself... 1. DWZ. 2. Meaney 3. Smith. 4. Hoppa 5. Okunbour 6. Lewis 7. Cogger(/Wakeham) I would give Cogger the nod at the start of the season purely on more NRL experience... Same with pack and bench for me re trial form... realistically on end of season firm Elliot easily aged of Ogden... but like I say... trials should determine which gets the start... Am most interested in what happens with JJ, plenty of us calling for a move to lock last pre season and didn’t happen... I’m just wondering whether Homer is more like the new prototype 13 as discussed by Zef... Well that is the other option evolve our style... Never forgetting another vital ingredient for that style a rake with quality service playing eyes up footy... Bingo.

Not footy players with more skill but not a brain cell in sight....

Funny thing is Lichaa and another Penrith 9 who's career went even worse, looked good playing in the lower grades... (So bad I can't even remember the guy's name now) The difference was they got fast play the balls and forwards ran on to their short passes with multiple runners... It isn't hard to look good playing in the lower grades with that style, and that much time... sooner or later you will pick a runner that makes you look great.. What always surprised me is Lichaa rarely attempted to play that style at our club, one issue is the play the balls were slow... I know the player Des wanted for 9 ... Matt Ballin or Jake Friend... Lichaa is nothing like that kind of player.... almost a polar opposite.... so why sign him? With a Ballin or Friend you need good halves who can make the plays, with the halves we had, Lichaa should have been making the plays...his lower grade style was better and more effective than DesBall...... Really there is no substitute for quality halves.. .
