+x+xFunny thing is Lichaa and another Penrith 9 who's career went even worse, looked good playing in the lower grades... (So bad I can't even remember the guy's name now) The difference was they got fast play the balls and forwards ran on to their short passes with multiple runners... It isn't hard to look good playing in the lower grades with that style, and that much time... sooner or later you will pick a runner that makes you look great.. What always surprised me is Lichaa rarely attempted to play that style at our club, one issue is the play the balls were slow... I know the player Des wanted for 9 ... Matt Ballin or Jake Friend... Lichaa is nothing like that kind of player.... almost a polar opposite.... so why sign him? With a Ballin or Friend you need good halves who can make the plays, with the halves we had, Lichaa should have been making the plays...his lower grade style was better and more effective than DesBall...... I believe that this season the other teams will still fail to take us seriously. If we play to our potential, by the time round 10 passes we will be amongst the front runners, and at the halfway mark we will be gaining momentum on our run towards the finals. My bold prediction.

Well Dman & his hotdog mates at the Kennel were correct... RFM underwent Ankle Surgery today.
He will be out for about 2 months min they saying in the SMH.
Dogs played an opposed session against the Tigers yesterday with a player falling heavily on RFM ankle.
Wish him well, he played well towards the end of last season coming off the bench & making a big impact......

Great in lower grade and fleeting first grade appearances but that was it. Maybe we should never sign any Shark's players. Hooker is a position which changes for first grade. Whoever took a lower grade 5/8 in Jason Hetherington and said you are now hooker was a genius

(So bad I can't even remember the guy's name now) The difference was they got fast play the balls and forwards ran on to their short passes with multiple runners... It isn't hard to look good playing in the lower grades with that style, and that much time... sooner or later you will pick a runner that makes you look great.. What always surprised me is Lichaa rarely attempted to play that style at our club, one issue is the play the balls were slow... I know the player Des wanted for 9 ... Matt Ballin or Jake Friend... Lichaa is nothing like that kind of player.... almost a polar opposite.... so why sign him? With a Ballin or Friend you need good halves who can make the plays, with the halves we had, Lichaa should have been making the plays...his lower grade style was better and more effective than DesBall...... Really there is no substitute for quality halves.. . Erggghhhh.... here we go again... The bloke didn’t put in the work to ensure his fundamentals improved.... plain and simple... Yep that's right. HD keeps harping on about how good Lichaa was in reserves etc, but I never saw it in first grade other than those 2 games just at the end of Des' tenure. It's irrelevant whether he warranted it or not. It was offered. Those that offered the contract are the ones who we should be targeting.

Lichaa is nothing like that kind of player.... almost a polar opposite.... so why sign him? With a Ballin or Friend you need good halves who can make the plays, with the halves we had, Lichaa should have been making the plays...his lower grade style was better and more effective than DesBall...... Really there is no substitute for quality halves.. . Erggghhhh.... here we go again... The bloke didn’t put in the work to ensure his fundamentals improved.... plain and simple... Yep that's right. HD keeps harping on about how good Lichaa was in reserves etc, but I never saw it in first grade other than those 2 games just at the end of Des' tenure. The guy was a myth and I reckon Billy Ngawini should have been the opportunities that Lichaa got. He at least has a good reserve grade highlights reel. Well he was good in reserves, playing a completely different style to what Des tried to make him play, my point is I would not hire Blocker Roach as an Actuary..... hire someone suitable for the job. I also explained why his reserve grade style would never cut it in the NRL He is the past, even if he gets another chance anywhere it will not be at the Dogs... Villi has petitioned KFC and the Terrorcrap to include L Coote in this years SuperCoach competition despite not playing in Australia...
It must be said however, that if Villi has a squad of blokes scoring zero every week it would be a step up from last year...
hopefully a a few of the BDP comrades jump on board SC this year... it’s not as if it completely dominates every aspect of your waking life... much...

Whoever took a lower grade 5/8 in Jason Hetherington and said you are now hooker was a genius Coming out after Des was sacked and saying his form was so good the last month of ‘17 cos he ignored the coach is the context... A dumb move in a team sport by any measure, Desball or otherwise... What do you reckon other coaches thought???... The final nail in the coffin being sans Des, we never saw that same ‘form’ (using the term very loosely, cos it was a couple of outliers) again... So I assume thats Pays fault... Whilst I my be the original Blind Freddy I do concur that Lichaa did provide less than the necessary service out of dummy half again something that could has been overlooked in Reserve Grade where 42 to 38 is not that outlandish a score board There were plenty of things in the last 10 weeks (and even in the first 6) that have me hopeful for finals footy this year... JMK near the top of the list... TBH I’m really excited about this crop of youngsters and a few juniors... Pay definitely has them playing for each other, and they are playing for him and the fans... There nothing quite like the bond that is built working through tough times... If one or two of these blokes have a break out year, anything is possible... Yeah I would rather focus on the future, let's forget the past few seasons, they are mostly very forgettable.. Like you I am excited, there were promising signs, I am also mindful that talk is cheap, and success is never certain.... but as fans we are supposed to be optimistic and it is harmless.... I also think this season it is time to expect a bit more from the coach and players, that is not unrealistic or unfair IMO, time for them to show what they have got.

We can’t afford to leave our tilt that late, or even May... we need to come out and be competitive and winning games from the get go... we don’t want to be relying on a 75% + winning record to get us home over the last half of the year... And I reckon I’ve seen enough to say top 8 should be a realistic goal this year... which for mine puts us 12 months in front of schedule if we deliver...
