Just wondering.
Would a reduced salary cap make Third party agreements more significant as a % of player payments.  This would advantage certain clubs.
With reduced player payments are contracts being broken allowing players to walk away from current clubs.

It's been confirmed.
The 83% reduction doesnt apply to brown paper bags.

My impression looking at various sources is we need 4-6 weeks of the current regime.

Then any unwind needs testing, treatment and any other gear like masks in place.
So we need to use that 4-6 weeks to get well organised....

The reason they are recommending the general public don't wear mask here is we currently need them for medical and other front line staff.

Most of all we need this lock down phase to go well, and if you are thinking of joining a choir, now is not the time, it seems deadly..

We should not have had crowds at round 1 of the NRL, we may have dodged a bullet there, I remember thinking at the time it wasn't a great idea.

Just an indication of how slack we were with self isolation.
I have two close relatives stranded in northern Thailand, a mother and her 8 year old son.  There are no cases of coronavirus in the province they are in.  They are in a small town/village.They were self isolated for 14 days.  Every day they were checked on and had their temperature taken.

On Monday afternoon the NSW CMO Dr Chant said that " we have seen a decline in testing numbers" and urged more testing particularly targeted testing. Is this because less people are presenting with symptoms or something else.  How does this affect the number of infections tally.  As is often the case the highlighted tally may be too simplistic.

i think the biggest lesson for the world to take out of all this for the next one (which as I've told you, is coming) is that as soon as there's an outbreak of a risky disease anywhere in the world all air travel stops, everywhere.

It's no use just stopping it in the country of origin because people infected but without symptoms might have already travelled - and as such even domestic flights must stop too.

Exceptions can be made to get people home but then they've got to go into quarantine upon arrival.

It might f*** the world up for 2 weeks or a month but stiff sh.t, we're now living the alternative.

It's the greatest and perhaps only preventative weapon we have.

Actually and of course inc ships, rail, bus in that too. any sort of international or inter-state transport of any kind. Inc turning cars around at borders.

Big steps. But imagine if these steps were implemented mid Jan world-wide. We'd be watching footy now.

This is essential albeit more difficult in countries with land borders. But it must be done. As an island with the benefit of seeing what occurred overseas we moved far too slowly and then incrementally.

All we probably needed was for the 2 week quarantine to apply to all visitors from overseas, including airline crew... tougher to do with higher numbers.

We would have also had to freeze departures, and tell everyone other than arriving passengers to stay away from the airport...

Same for any cruise liners, unless they all want to stay on the boat..

OK we are still perhaps not talking zero cases here, but i bet we start out with community infections in very low numbers.

And we start out tracking everyone that needs to be tracked.

I'm not sure there is any rush to go shopping, as there is no comp being played at present..

In this situation it is better to sit back and see what opportunities arise....and work out what are our priorities.

It is likely another club will sign them for 2021, It is unlikely another club will sign them for 2020.

Best to accept the decision, learn the lessons and move on, I hope all NRL players and would be NRL players learn something from this, we know they are slow learners, but hope springs eternal.

It would be good to get the season back on, in spite of this unfortunate incident I think the club has turned the corner, it is just going to take a while to translate that improvement into results.

I am led to believe that the NRLol deregistered both JO and CHN before the Dogs tore up their contracts. Therefore TTT would be making a mokery of his own decision if he allows either to play for another NRL team. But then again TTT is so inept and incompetent that anything the NRLol does these days is not surprising. If Vlandy doesn't sack him or at least pull him into line then he has also failed in his duties.

F*** I hate "whataboutism". Just a way to punt your own responsibilities onto somebody else.

Who gives a flying rats arse about "whatabout" Burgess or whatabout him or her or this or that. This is about US and what's best for US and nobody else.

And this is best for us. This has a payoff from this day forward. Everybody knows where we stand, every player that ever plays for us in the future knows what we expect. A better class of man is a better PROFESSIONAL player, more committed, more determined. A decision like this will help us attract that sort of player because they want to play at a club and with players that share the commitment to the game as them.

WHAT ABOUT THAT!

Looks like it was coordinated between the Dogs and NRL...

I bet they have to sit this season or most of it out, I bet they get the same money in the end as other payers while the season is closed.
Once we start playing again, they are missing out in more ways than one.

We don;t need to cop them playing for another club anytime soon, I'm happy about that.

The next club gets them for a good price, but so what, we have made our decision..

Accept the decision guys and move on, there are bigger more important issues....
Both guys will do their time and play NRL next season IMO., we will use the money to strengthen the squad when the right players are available, it is history now..

Zef is right players know our standard now, will it make a difference?
That is a tough call, sometimes it will, sometimes it will not... either way that is our standard.
