In all honesty though.... I think Barrett really needs to put a broom through this team and only have fast players with good line speed play.

I don't care if they are like Manly and make mistakes 50% of the time. That's fixable. What is not fixable is poor line speed ingrained in too many of our first grade team.

Pay, Georgallis and now Barrett have tried to get it out of them, but simply cant. They are flogging a dead horse.

Probably, but I see 5/8 as more important than centre.  Can players still renege on agreements before June 30? I thought Burton was offered the chance to try for a centre spot at Penrith but wasn't keen

Burton wants to play in the halves but mostly he wants to be in the starting lineup each week.
If we assume that he takes 5/8 then Flanagan, Lewis and Wakeham are vying for half.

Averillo might be suited to fullback, with the Meaney/Schoupp in  the centres the Fox and Meaney/Okunbor on the wings.

We can have a good backline and halves in 2022, strengthen the forwards a bit and we will be competitive.
It will be interesting to see if Lewis and Wakeham are retained, the club should consider moving Wakeham to hooker/14.

Yeah I dont know we are paying them, but I suspect it's something decent - particularly Lewis.
That means we cant realistically "carry" both if they are not locked-in first graders.

From what I've seen, Lewis is ahead of Wakeham who I really thought would have progressed faster than he has. I would think if he cant make the top 17 he will either have to leave to get better pay and opportunity elsewhere or stay for less

Mind you, same goes for Katoa and JMK.
Neither are good enough to be hooker IMO and if either Dietz, Topine prove themselves, or we nail a top line hooker, I would think we release both.

JMK is ok for 3rd choice, 14 when 1 guy is injured.
Katoa is significantly worse than JMK.
Katoa hasn't shown a likely ability to transition to a running backrower.

For players who only make the 17 when we have a few injuries, mix in a few experienced forwards, but otherwise young guys are a better bet. Otherwise young players don't get enough opportunities.

At this stage before any game, I can nearly always convince myself we are a chance.
