All four of the slimes tries were lines breaks from absolute pathetic reads in defence, 2 from TPJ, 1 from Okunbor and the other one escapes me.

I honestly thought at the start of the year we would have a good season. I knew we probably would have to work exceptionally make the 8 but thought we may have the troops to do it.  I know we have had a rough few games where the refs gave us no chance but today we looked totally out of our league TPJ is definately not the answer and there are a few others that are not up to FG standard. The unfortunate thing about 2023 is, if the players don't pull their fingers out of their @rses we will be looking at collecting another wooden spoon.

Very disappointing, a lack of composure and execution in attack and defence at critical times.

Fox probably played himself out of SOO.

I  hope that the team learns from this game.

I hope Ciraldo learns from this game.

The smarter team won.
Or maybe that is the team with the smarter players.

Oh and all those in favour of NOT going after Moses..... He schooled us.

His decision making was spot on. He shat on TPJ twice and just did the opposite of what our defence was doing or thinking (if it's actually possible that they think at all)

Though Marki, the bounce of the ball was also cruel to us. There were two or three occasions that with a bit of luck we were under the posts, but luck is something that seems to allude us.

TPJ made Moses look like Wally Lewis today. Not defending TPJ but he ran twice at Moses and Moses just stepped past him. Its comparable to a semi trailer and a go-kart. The go-kart will scoot around a big truck in a blink of an eye. TPJ played himself out of SOO as did Fox. 

I think our biggest problem is that we are rudderless. We have a half and a five eighth that are both apprentices and there is no one with enough experience to steer the ship. Plus the engineroom is like a V8 firing on four cylinders.

My thoughts for this team to finish strongly this year are to have Rajab at 7, KO at 6, Burton at left centre, Averillo at FB and Alamoti to right centre. Perham to be dropped.

Next year, same lineup except Avo and Chrichton fight it out for FB or right centre spot. Alamoti dropped

CC has a better team than Barrett had but just doing a little better ,  Just no creativity in this team . All game Burton was chip kicking hoping something would come out of it . Just didn’t seem any other alternative plays .

I would not say rudderless, but there is a lack of organisation and execution in attack, that is mostly inexperience. We are on top, let teams off the hook with a poor kick, compound that with a penalty or 6 again then a player makes a bad defensive decision or a missed tackle and no one covers for him.

It is more accurate to say, Burton is patchy, and he needs more help in the halves.

The initial  problem is bad decisions or poor execution in attack, but we also leak far too many points.

CC sounded like he was impressed with some reserve grade players and considering changes.

Wilson played fullback in reserve grade and made a few line breaks.
I would start Wilson at fullback, Rajab at 6 and Karl on the bench. 
In the forwards I consider Edwards and Morrin to be good defenders, Preston and excellent defender, Okunbor going ok, but the rest of our pack is patchy. If a reserve grade forward is playing well, give him a shot.

We are long odds ro  make the 8 from here, we may as well try a few experiments.

I felt Edwards was too pass-happy in the middle and not really committing defenders or making them second guess.

We kept trying to go around Parra who simply slid and covered us easily. 

Our team has become so dependent on the kick or individual brilliance that we cannot pass our way to a try if our life depended on it.  

We did lead the linebreaks 7-6, with only 47% posession.

The difference was we got kick happy when we made a line-break, support runners were too late getting there, and Parra scrambled way better than we did.

7 lineline-breaks for 2 trys, no tries off kicks and no repeat sets that I can remember, says a lot. We lacked composure, wasted opportunities and didn't build pressure.

Parra ran better lines in attack, passed a bit better and supported better, our defenders made bad decisions and no one bailed them out. Parra didn't get kick happy when they made a line-break.

It is all attention to detail, support play and knowing when to take the tackle and when to kick.

Defense was similar, attention to detail, working together and getting bodies in the frame, were all lacking.

I would not say lack of effort, just switching off at the wrong time, or too slow to react.

We did lead the linebreaks 7-6, with no trys off kicks, though Fox missed a good chance right at the end.

Defence also needs work, as does 5th tackle options. 

Trying to play up tempo is the right idea against a bigger pack, we needed to move them around and wear them out, Kicking after a line-break lets them off the hook.

Burns for Alamoti is another change that I would consider.
Also Flanno off the bench in a 2 hooker rotation, for Reed to play 80 mins we need a stronger pack.

Perham, Wardell and Alamoti are the easy players to drop. It is hard to squeeze Flanno in.

Burton's kicking is big, but unfortunately that says it all. Most end up free catches by the FB on the full and achieve little. We need to find the ground a little more  often and if it is an attacking kick be designed  for  our attackers to get there  to put pressure on the catcher.

We tried to bolster the forwards with Patolo starting.

Pele apparently good in reserve grade.

No sure what to make of Max King, he was great earlier in the season. He doesn't seem to be back to that level.

We need size, but the big boys are often lacking, fitness, workrate and mobility...

TPJ, Okunbor, Preston and Karl offer the most in attack.Edwards and Marhoney make a lot of tackles.

Our pack needs to stop the opposition yardage and offloads and we need to work over the middle in attack and drag defenders in.

The forwards are just as problematic as the spine, weaknesses in one area are compounding issues in another.

Reserve grade team  going good. Problem: we've  got two of them.

Yep, although I feel our first grade team lacks brains in key positions rather than ability.

I know this will sound polarising but Rajab in his short time in first grade has shown more as a halfback than any others (exception maybe JR). 

IMO everything Burton did yesterday could have been done from the centre position, and I think ultimately (perhaps not this year but down the track) we will genuinely have to consider this if there are better players suited for 6 and 7.

My feeling is that Rajab must be in the halves. He is the only player outside JR that links well with his inside and outside runners and probably the only one that can execute an inside pass properly.

KO may in fact be the 5/8th but with his desire to hit hard in tackles he may eventually end up at lock.

And so I'd like to see Rajab be given 5 or 6 games at halfback. If there is no appetite to move Burton now, put him back at 5/8th and play KO at 14. He can at least give Reed a breather at hooker or CC can experiment alittle with what I suggested above.

This club has to decide if it wants to move forward or wants to not upset it's marquee players.
