Like I said earlier we should try a new coach as there is nothing to lose....

Structurally, Cogger, Lewis, JMK and Meaney are all young players, they are improving but too slowly.

We are lacking centres with speed who can also defend and run hard,

We are lacking edge backrowers who can work with their centres in defence, run lines in attack, not drop the ball and and work hard for 80 mins. 

We are lacking props that can run hard for long minutes, hit hard in defence, and perhaps get an offload, or a quick play the ball.

We might have 1-2 better options in reserve grade, but there isn't a whole NRL side playing in reserves..

All I am saying is it is a tough gig for the replacement coach, and Pay needs the kind of miracle we haven't seen for over 2,000 years...

As always in sport if you hang in long enough and try hard enough it always turns around.

The main advantage I can see with a new coach is it is a reset, the players might feel energised or  perhaps a few changes in style and selection might help.... but like I say it is at all order......

Probably the main reason to change coach is it might give a few fans an incentive to turn up for a few more weeks...

I think the problem is we have two reserve great teams and one has to play first grade each week.  As individual players are not progressing under this coach the situation won't improve until the board takes decisive action.  Seeing as the board just extended the coaches contract I don't expect decisive action any time soon.

Absolutely agree, and we haven't seen close to our best 17 on the field at once this year... and with DWZ we have a little X factor and raw speed...

the remaining 16 however don't have X factor which is what that post was about...

that said chances are Pay will have DWZ in the centres on the opposite side of the field to which he normally plays...

if hoppa goes to fullback I'll be engaging some of those bikies to which Nancy referred earlier..

The NRLol would be still seriously p1ssed with him... I can't see them doing us or him any favours...

I don't know that this is tactics, but when you lose the battle in the middle edge defenders get sucked into helping,  I have also noticed Meaney has to make a lot of tackles in the middle and we lack support runners in the middle.

Montoya made some poor decisions, but it also looked like we were short on that side, I spent most of the 2nd half wondering where our left edge  
2nd rower was... 

Tactically we can try Renouf T, surely it is time.,.. Lewis should be coming off the bench and perhaps playing as a lock in the 2nd half, that should at least give us an energetic middle support player...

How does it work in the better teams? The props, lock and hooker lock up the middle the hooker and lock help out a bit on the edge, they win the ruck, the 2nd rowers and centres number up and help the half in defence, the only overlap is a ball to the winger.

The fullback manages to make minimal tackles and has the fitness / vision to cover in defence as needed. 

If we threw more at the opposition in attack, we can tire out their middle forwards and win that battle. then their 2nd rowers are getting sucked help out in the middle, their fullback is making tackles and  we have the opportunities on the edges if we move the ball to the right place and take the right options. 

I was pleased JMK ran more this week, that was a step forward, shame about the 3 steps backwards...

This is at lest a realistic option and something we can do quickly  we don't have a lot to lose...

The big issue is with the 'war chest' available for 21 we need to know who the coach is for that year by Nov this year so that person has a say in recruitment, but is also a carrot beyond $ to attract the right players...

Im pretty sure extending Pay was more about short term perception of stability for the players rather than an indicator of a long term commitment by the club... And at $17.48 am hour it was worth the punt, this year... If we can find the right coach in the next 6 months, I expect Pay will be gone before a ball is kicked in anger next year...

Or we need to be in the NRLols war about Flanagan now, but I don't expect any favours there...

Looking a the 2nd half defence, Martin was a big problem on the left side .... at least in the highlights...

I think he adds something to the team in attack, in defence he seems slow and out of position a lot of the time......

Montoya reacted the same way Holland did, panic and rush out of the line.... bad decision by the centre, but the edge has to be working together and the 2nd rower/half has to be in the frame....

OK not having Cogger might have messed that edge up.... but Martin and RFM were not in the frame a lot of the time...
