+xNO GREAT WALL A-LEAGUE IN THE PAY TV TOP 20 Despite three of what was hyped by Sydney1834 as 'important' matches, the Australian public has laughed in the face of the flat earthers. Cricket (#1 sixers v hurricanes: 169,000) dominated the top 5, meanwhile American dad repeats rounded off the top 20 at 33k. For those interested, 442's fav king Peppa "maddog" pig topped the charts of the multi channel at 184k. I await the apology. I thought we were supposed to rate better cos 10 < SBS?

Only according to those who think being on "a FTA network" when there are 200 channels is the same thing as when there were 5.

What a glorious day that was. Strange thing is - if the channel can drive its own demand - why dont they do that for the rest of their shows?

Strange thing is - if the channel can drive its own demand - why dont they do that for the rest of their shows? there is no incentive for ch 10 to promote the HAL. CBS bought them out last year after they had signed a 2 year deal to show it via the fox sports feed. it is better off being on SBS viceland because of this unfortunate situation. we are lucky it was only a 2 year deal. there is zero chance it'll be on ch one next season. all we can hope for is for the FFA to to find a way to work something out with another channel for next season. but i think the probability is high that we won't be on FTA next season.

Haha true but it doesn't make the content any less dull or disconnected from the supporters.

Geez, you could goback through some of the old posts about why SBS ratings were declining and they would make quite funny reading now.

Watching the HAL is like watching the grass grow. Sorry, but I count myself as a Football Fan and I can't bear to watch what is being dished up.
It's actually insulting...People are disconnected more and more.

The ratings and attendance figures have me questioning the legitimacy of the membership figures. They must be including pets or something There is no way we could be celebrating record all time membership numbers when the broader interest is collapsing

Victory were selling 2 game memberships last week..so I’d say a lot of that type of stuff is going on.

They must be including pets or something There is no way we could be celebrating record all time membership numbers when the broader interest is collapsing Auto renewals should be illegal. I think they are the big reason there hasn't been quite a drop. I was under the impression that they were a banned practice yet here we are.

I wonder at what point the whole competition is in jeopardy? When fans leave it’s very hard to get them back and I can’t see the entry of one new team having much of an impact. For a short time we can rely on the Foxsports deal. But when that expires and the money on offer is a fraction of what it is,I don’t know what happens. I am half expecting the competition to fold and after a hiatus ,it will be resurrected again. They almost need to kill it to generate interest in a new era competition.Hopefully done right!

Kayo is killing it though.
Every comment about viewership now needs an * next to it. If you don’t know the streaming number you don’t know the viewing figures anymore.

Waz, nup.
Every sport has an increasing digital audience. Cricket has huge numbers for iPhone viewers. But those other sports arent bottoming out like we are on tv ratings.
When we get ratings in the teens, 20s and 30s - that means the interest has disappeared.

Geez that’s horrible. Not even a couple extra thousand on kayo can save this.
As mentioned the other sports haven’t bottomed out, the dead rubber 2nd session of cricket yesterday still pulled 230k on fox despite it being on channel 7 as well.

@ footballer
nup, that’s just your personal agenda speaking.
There can no longer be a logical discussion on viewing figures without knowing the streaming figures. There just can’t.
comparisons with other codes may or may not be valid but someone would need to do an analysis of demographics etc.
The sky might be falling. But then again it might not.

Football has a far younger audience than that of other sports, all everyone wanted was a streaming service and here we are.

What we know is that our ratings for FTA and Fox have been falling year after year.
I say that trend has continued - this season more than any other.
You say, nah they’re now all just watching on Kayo.
Who has the agenda?

@ footballer
“You say, nah they’re now all just watching on Kayo”
I didn’t say that. Again, that’s just your agenda - I didn’t say that.
I said, if you don’t know what the figures are for Kayo (and the MyFootball App) then it’s difficult to comment on viewing figures.
There are a range of possible scenarios:
1. Your assertion that viewing figures have collapsed and football is in in big trouble.
or possibly .....
2. Fox viewing figures have fallen but are compensated in part by a shift to the new streaming platform of Kayo and the MyFootball App
or possibly .....
3. Kayo has a price/performance that meets the market demographic and there’s been an increase in viewing figures as a football audience welcomes the much cheaper platforms.
Your agenda is that it can only be scenario #1.
My “agenda” is that we can’t know without seeing the figures, which I doubt we’ll ever get. The first time we’ll have an indication I suspect is when the broadcast rights are renegotiated.
