+x+x+x+x+x+xComing along well. But i think they will have issues getting people in and out for games when it opens. The VIC Govt has only committed to building a train station at Davis Rd, which is about 2km away. No word yet on the proposed train station at Sayers Rd. Only holds 5k so getting people in and out shouldn't be a problem. No different from any number of other similar capacity venues around (eg: Hume city, Knights, Heidelberg, Preston, etc...) My fellow thesbians, the mini Stadium will have extra temporary seating, all up capacity to 8k according to Chris Pelhivans. Let's see what this capacity will be. 1000 permanent seating for a 5k capacity venue? Usually when seating is added to replace standing room, then capacity declines. Unless the temp stands are 15-20 rows wrapped around the 3 other sides of pitch?? Where has the 8k capacity been stated?? Is this another Pehlivanis lakeside moment ? Seating capacity of the main stand has been stated to be 5k. Unclear how much standing room there will be, but temp seats could push it up to 8k. I reckon they'll see how they go with the 5k stand and then introduce the temp seats if required. FMD, they dropped the 5k seats claim ages ago Look at the stand and take your best guess on how many can fit in there Yeah I stand corrected. They no longer state 5k seated capacity but rather just 5k total capacity. Looking at their latest construction progress video, I'd say it's slightly bigger than the Hume City FC ground which from memory is about 600 seated. This one would be no more than 1k seats in the main stand.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xIt's well documented that it wasn't about the money. Look at the Macarthur situation, the original bidder was asked to match the highest offer, and he politely declined, but still won the bid. In Melbourne, there were three things at play: - South Melbourne were not going to get the liicense full stop (despite having the best bid by miles) - both Melbourne clubs lobbied hard in favour of WU (and it's pretty obvious why they did that) - you have the con job perpetrated by WU. Only point I'd slightly change mate is that I seem to remember that fruit shop guy from Victory was more talking up the Team 11 bid over WU .. WMG wasn't even a blip on the radar until the last 2-3 weeks really..... People still thought it was that bullshit Geelong Patriots bid from memory..... I don't remember any existing club talking about a preference of bids. Only chatter of protecting "their patch". WU bid was a late move from the Victoria Patriots project by Horvat who tried to get the paparazzi photographe involved. Was never getting up. Then Lou Sticca got involved and your Greek mates had some investment fund money to throw away. 😉 And they flashed the cash like wogs on a night out at Chasers in the 90's. And the rest is history. Hahahahah I NEVER saw these meatball wankers at Delirium on Sundays.... NEVER..... Also the "Greek mates": jumped on later when the Probuild dildos went belly up and Sticca went running for the hills when he realised there was "no cash here...." BTW I had forgotten that ol Mozza Bisetto was the president (board member?) of newly promoted Moreland SC and saw him, pissed as a fart at Lakeside last night... He was getting uppity when they scored first and things turned hilarious when we won... Poor c#nt must have been pissed properly coz he asked 3 different people if they knew who he was? hahahahah Funniest line was a calm South supporter asking him how it feels to have not been able to build either Moreland OR WU a stadium... hahahahahah love the NPL. Oh well at least one of the WMG got to live out their fantasy and witness a game at the mighty Lakeside.... https://twitter.com/morelandcityfc/status/1023344080896458752?cxt=HHwWgICojaGB07McAAAA Probuild sponsored first year. Sticca tried to get them involved first year through the Andrew Zinni connection. They obviously wanted them to buy in and build stadium for them. I assume the $$$ didn't stack up. Probuild went bust a year or two later. Bissetto. What a clown. Heard him getting pissed was a regular occurrence in the WU corporate rooms. The guys running it their were making a motza on their salaries. Doing bugger all from the looks of it. They certainly are a funny bunch... Low class people all the way. To be completely fair to them ALL, its boy's own fantasy shit I get it... Bunch of soccer mad wogs wanna run a football club of their own (shit who hasn't fantasised about that with their mates,). The fact that they were able to leverage that off a corrupt AND inept FFA and also get in bed with an equally as dodgy council to pull it off reeks. When this goes belly up eventually none of these blokes will lose too much off it and all they'l leave behind is a (thankfully very small) number of disillusioned football fans. I was initially pissed at how they are portrayed as the "future of Australian soccer" but now just laugh and think good luck to them... I can't wait to see what Cinderella stories the 4 new franchises will bring the APL..... I think they'll also leave behind a conga line of investors wondering where their returns are on the property deal. These guys definitely weren't playing with their own money. Got a feeling the end is nigh. Unless there is more investment funds found soon. I've said it before. They are the Carlton SC of the A-league. They just went one better and won the GF. Who is/was worse though in your opinion, Carlton or WU? I actually saw Carlton play at Princes Park way back when.

+x+xThanks for proving my point. There was a lot of discussion about it in 2018, but the VIC Govt never committed any funds. Coming along well. But i think they will have issues getting people in and out for games when it opens. The VIC Govt has only committed to building a train station at Davis Rd, which is about 2km away. No word yet on the proposed train station at Sayers Rd. So somehow Memeti securing 23 million for the training facility and a commitment from the council to gift the land to a football stadium construction is inferior to Roffey's mealy mouthed promises of gifted land for a 15k stadium ... still whiteout any planning permission after 5 years.... righto. Ill concede, your obviously very passionate about the Aleague's greatest ever franchise.... Hope, for the sake of the people who actually live out there that you are right and this doesnt become some white elephant half finished nothing .... Hospitals; schools and childcare facilities would be a better use of resources I think but, whatever. I'm pretty sure the Victorian government will have that in mind when the lease at Lakeside Stadium runs out. Probably keep the South Melbourne AFL club's grandstand though.

Was always a 5000 capacity from council. The spin from WU may have stated 5000 seats. It's probably like the Ballarat soccer facility I'm guessing. Still can't see it being 8000 capacity with temp seating. Where has this figure been stated? Source?

This recently built in SA is 1000 seats. 7000 capacity with hills on other 3 sides it seems. FA cup games played there. https://www.austadiums.com/news/1196/new-sa-football-centre-officially-opens-as-servicefm-acquires-naming-rightsLet's see what adjustments are made in Tarneit. But please quote a source when claiming this venue will be anything more than an Epping stadium type venue.

Maybe WU can try and take over the lease if they havent started on their Western Wembley yet......

Reddit claim big announcement from this club tommorrow. I wonder what? They already announced another season playing some matches at Ballarat, signed striker Botic as well. Don't think the training ground is ready yet. A joint venture?

Agent A-League Twitter is going with the story that WU will be hosting derbies and finals at Lakeside for the next 3 years after doing a deal with SM and Athletics Australia. Paying to install temp seating as well. Hard to tell if its parody or not with that account.

Found this article from the AFR from a month ago which was interesting reading.
Whether it works out or not is another story, but they appear to be trying to milk every opportunity they can. The most interesting thing appears to be the investment so far of $55 million, which is a lot of money for not much reward yet.
