+x+xSo with Western taking United, should they still go United some variant of Macarthur & Campbelltown United, Macarthur South West United etc would have made a lot of sense with it actually uniting two bids? South West Wednesday....just to keep up with the trend of vague borrowed British football club suffixes. Depends when they make the announcement 'Macarthur Monday' 'Southwest Sunday'

I sent an email to MSW last night with a name suggestion and received a personal reply from the secretary earlier today; some bloody good commitment there. I did the same with WMG a few weeks back.....and nothing...not even an automated reply.
MSW have got it all over WMG....absolutely all over em. Are you taking notice WMG ? What’s that...can’t be assed you say....well bloody well fook off then.

+xThey have St. George-Illawarra in the NRL so I don't see why we just can't have Macarthur Campbelltown FC. Campbelltown is part of Macarthur so it doesn't work. The bid was a joint bid from the 3 LGAs that make up the Macarthur region and the LGAs that make up South West Sydney region.

The history of football in the region is that originally football was run by the Granville and Districts Soccer Association which was founded in 1890. That Association still exists today but as housing expanded in the west of Sydney they passed over control to local associations. In the west Blacktown, Nepean and recently Hills were split off from GDSFA. In the south west Southern Districts Soccer Football Association was started in 1947 to look after all football from Fairfield south to the greater Sydney limits. In 1983 SDSFA handed over the control of football in the Macarthur region of Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly to the association now known as Macarthur Football Association. Currently in SDSFA there are about 9,000 registered players and in the lesser populated but faster growing MFA there are about 10k registered players.
If the club was going to use its history to select a name that covers the area that the team sees as its market Southern Districts Macarthur would be the closest fit.

Right, so I informed myself more on this joint bid. Majority of name suggestions leave out one of the two joining bids and Macarthur South West Sydney United is a mouthful.
Best fusion I can think of, as of now, is.....
Macarthur South City
Macarthur Southern Districts

+x+x+xThis bid was the no brainer bid imo As for Melb, Team 11 may have been the better choice... I always preferred WMG because they were going to fund a stadium. Hoping other clubs because of this will follow suit It was a lie anyway the Chinese financial backers have packed up and gone home and all thats left is a crap bid with no substance or plan. Steve Horvat was literally on the daily football show yesterday mentioning once the name, badge and colours are done they are starting to move forward with the stadium. I dont know why people are convinced this is not happening, there is nothing to suggest that any backers have pulled out or that its not happening

+xI honestly think they can just go with some form of Macarthur. Doesn't Macarthur already cover Campbelltown? Those aware of the incoming team already know they're a team for whole of the South West so I don't think there'll be any kind of identity crisis, and they'll have plenty of time to continue to brand themselves as that as more and more people become aware of them. They're pushing 20,000 likes on facebook (metrixxx lol) and that'll just continue to grow as they make more announcements and their inclusion gets closer. I'm excited to hear how the fan forums go, I think they're going about it in the right way so far. It obviously helps tremendously that they have a little more time than Western United. Side note: When are they entering the FFA Cup? Would love it if they entered next year alongside Western United (2020) prior to their first a-league season. Would be a big boost for the cup. Campelltown is in Macarthur. It would make more sense to have Macarthur-Liverpool. Works for St George-Illawarra Dragons and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Interesting to note that the hospital region is South Western Sydney. So my guess is eventually the whole region will be known as that.

It's a really little creek that goes through Werribee that doesn't even have a name on Google maps, obviously they'd be digging an artificial lake out if it Canberra style, if it happens.

A quick mockup I have done of a logo* and two possible home shirts (would be paired with black shorts and white socks with a single white band). Away kits would be the inverse. Team name: Macarthur Athletic Name basis: Following the Melbourne expansion team taking the term United, and with the league now having multiple teams with the United name it would be best to not use it as well. Instead I have gone with the term Athletic as both the Macarthur and South West Sydney regions have a history of producing high class athletes, the club name recognises those who have represented the regions in the past and those who will continue to do so into the future. Logo design: Taking elements from both the Southern DIstricts (bridge) and Macarthur (ram) Football federations the logo represents the two major regions behind the club. *Not all logo elements are original, only used to show concept.

New bar has been set at FFA
No consultation or fan engagement and we'll find out it's South West United

+xNew bar has been set at FFA No consultation or fan engagement and we'll find out it's South West United I'm sure the bidders for SWS want it to succeed and aren't banking on property development to fund the thing. Although the Chairman would be Walker.

I like homage to both regions in the logo but would both teams allow it so easily?

Re the use of ‘United’. Plenty of alternatives to have the same effect. Just look at South America, Netherlands or even local cricket clubs. Union xxxx Xxx combination Xxx combine Xxx and xxx fc Xxx alliance
