I like anything that acknowledges George’s River, having grown up near it.

+xSouth west bid on its own was to encapulate the Bankstown and Liverpool areas as well as Campbelltown. The name McArthur Liverpool fc should be the name really. I like that or the two reversed but it is Macarthur not McArthur.

Im worried about this club, The football fans there had a chance to show up for a A-League game and only 5k came out. This is a bad sign for things to come. Nix are playing more games there next season I just hope in front of more people.

So a team from a foreign country that no one really likes, and a team from east Sydney that no one really likes, plays a game in an area neither of them represent and they draw a poor crowd.
That’s a problem for Nix and SFC ... not the new franchise lol.

All that says is the Sydney FC fans are too lazy to travel an extra 50k to watch their team.

It's like when they held a CCM vs Nix game in Canberra and 6k people came out, then people turned around said somehow used that to justify Canberra not getting a team. I wouldn't attend a game as a neutral even if it was free.

@433, bang on about ridiculous expectations that were placed on Canberra to attend as neutrals, especially for that shit match! And even then we in Canberra got more people to turn out than did for a match played in the same city as one of the clubs!

If we're going by online metrics, they have 5 times as many Facebook likes as Western United despite coming in a year later. They'll average over 10k comfortably.

No one really showed up when Sydney played Perth at Parramatta around the time Sydney Rovers were suppose to be the original 12th team before it faded to oblivion. They may not be on WSW fan levels but why would they come out and support a game not involving them knowing full well now they have their own team playing there in under 18 months.

It was easier for me to get to Campelltown then it is to get to Kogarah or the SFS. Red Rooster one minute drive from the ground too.

The old West Melbourne Group page is still up has about 4k likes compared to 17k likes. Either way, it's a shellacking. SWS also have a neat little ad with people from the local community, the bid and Brett Emerton promoting the club as "your team", along with a number of community forums. Definitely the right way to go about it. Western United have done absolutely fuck all with regards to community engagement, I was in Werribee last week and saw nothing there. If I was them I would be absolutely spamming the airwaves for everyone to get involved with the bid.

I know they have the luxury of an extra year to organise themselves, but these guys seem to be going about it so much better than WMG. (Can't quite bring myself to call them by their crappy new name.) WMG just seem so rushed to make important decisions that will define the club, in particular the name.
WMG's colours are fine, but you could only select one colour in their survey. Green and black coming in as the top two colours does NOT necessarily mean that people wanted a green/black combo. MSWS has 'select all that apply' in their colour selection survey. It's (obvious) liitle things like that which will end up making a huge difference to their ultimate success. I have a bad feeling about WMG.

I guess that's pretty impressive since the photo gives it no justice. I believe there a better expansion then WMG but how long will the fans stay away from these event games?.

I have a bad feeling about WMG. Yeah wmg seemed to have just controlled things as they know what they want to do anyway. White seemed to be very popular too so if they allowed more input, the club may be playing in white with green and black which would look better anyway and could potentially already have these massive waves of support coming through with each decision they've consulted better on. Instead it seems they're very much at the bottom still staring up. There's ways to still achieve your main aims and outcomes while still involving more people. Often they're just made better and celebrated more.
