This tour includes the following matches
20/6 1 day game (D/N) vs Northamptonshire
23/6 1 day game vs Derbyshire
29/6 1 day game vs Worcestershire
30/6 - 3/7 4 day game vs Gloucestershire
7/7- 10/7 4 day game vs Sussex
14/7 - 17/7 Somebody is playing the England Lions, their A team in a 4 day game, Not sure why cricinfo has listed as part of the Australia A tour unless Australia A might be playing them. The timing works nicely.
23/7 - 26/7 vs Australia
The One day World Cup runs from 30/5 to 14/7, with Australia's last guaranteed game being on 6/7 so players part of the World Cup squad are not going to be able to be picked in the Australia A team. This might effect players like Richardson, Carey, Maxwell, Handscomb and possibly others.
The first test of the Ashes start on 1/8 so the Aus- A vs Aus game is really close to the first teat. I could perhaps see the Ashes squad being picked after the 4 day game against Sussex as the vast majority of the squad will be with the World Cup squad or the Aus A squad. Then again if the one day team makes the WC final perhaps it would be announced just after that. Paine, Burns, Head and Lyon could be neither squad, maybe Khawaja does not make the WC squad and maybe there will be a fast bowler in the same situation.
With 4 Shield rounds to go and the Shield final these is plenty of time for players to play them into or out of the Australian A team. The selection is also a bit complicated by the 3 one day games at the start of tour. Will there be players selected specifically for these games or will there be players selected in the squad because of their one day ability who also play the 4 day games?

Maybe even Hazlewood makes the squad. Not sure who the wicketkeeper might be if Carey makes the WC squad, perhaps Wade or Pierson.
The spinner in the side is very much open, Holland is probably Lyon's number 2 but he surely will not play in the A team. Perhaps Agar or Swepson or Pope will bowl themselves into the A squad in the remaining Shield matches.

I have been watching the progress of Silk since his troubles with depression. He is almost back to his best in all formats. 2018/19 FC 451 @37.5 with one 100 . Is not as yet smashing the door but is well and truly back with self belief. Always had the talent. Meredith is also out. Sheer speed is little help in Pom conditions.

I would go with,
Batsmen: Renshaw, Harris, Handscomb, Labuschagne, Patterson, Pucovski, Wade
WK: Carey, Pierson
Fast bowlers: Richardson, Hazlewood, Tremain and one of Worrall, Meredith and Pattinson.
Spin Bowler: Agar or Swepson.
Now some of these will probably be in the WC squad and will need to be replaced.
Someone like Steketee probably does not make the squad yet but he is young, having a good season and if he has a very good second half of the season might make this squad.
Lehmann has not had his greatest season but it still has been reasonable and if puts together a good group of innings in the second half of the season he might make this squad.
There are quite a few players in this sort of position.

Gday Dc, jaszyjim - I was given heaps in the early stages when I said smith & Warner would return as soon as their suspension was over - proved correct. It's like I mentioned earlier - whether we like or not, cricket is a business with a bottom line. As soon as CA can make Smith captain again, without causing too many waves, once his ban is over, he will be captain of the test side - reality is he is a best test captain we have. Payne, as I also went to extremes to point out, his age will catch up to him. If he cannot keep then his value solely as a captain to the team as captain expires, as he will have no value to the bottom line - harsh but that's business

The squad will include one day players to cover the world cup squad and Ashes' squad hopefuls. The current One day squad is Finch, Carey, Cummins, Behrendorff, Coulter-Nile, Handscomb, Khawaja, Lyon, S. Marsh, Maxwell, J & K Richardson, Stoinis, Turner, Zampa. Warner, Smith and Starc are quite likely to make the world cup squad and Hazlewood is a slim chance although injury will probably rule him out of even being considered. So those who miss out on the World Cup squad from these 19 players will almost certainly make the A squad. Langer has been quoted as saying there is 19 or 20 players who deserve to be in the squad, perhaps D'Arcy Short is the 20th player. Paine will captain the A squad. Head, Patterson and Harris are highly likely to make the A squad. I want Wade and Phillipe to make the squad, Pucovski probably should be their as well but with possibly two batsmen coming out of the one day squad he might be forced out. What about Labuschagne, Burns, and Bancroft? Even Maddinson could be considered. If Lyon drops out of the WC squad will he be in the A squad? Would there be a second spinner? To my Holland is Australia's second spinner. O'Keefe is in good form as well. As far as fast bowlers go it is less clear. Pattinson returned to the Victorian team and impressed in the absense of Tremain but he probably needs a very good last match to make the A squad. Tremain should be in the squad. Will Hazlewood make the squad? He will need cricket if he is in the plans for the Ashes, but should he be in those plans.
