Did you see any difference in accuracy? Half of those 10 were tailenders. So lets not get carried away. It was certainly an improved showing on the first game. I'm going to guess Sameul Badree... In my defence, he did have the record for years before his retriring finished with the worst seasons of his career blowing up his ER. But none of the top 5 are surprising at all. 6th is a lil bit. So does that mean you have looked it up, Paddles? If not, the answer is a well known Kiwi... Yeah looked it up, I would have all top 5 - no way I'd ever guess 6th though. But I knew it was Badreee last time I loked it up. He fell away in 2018 and stuffed up his record. Intense game at Bellerive today.
15 wickets fell for circa 250 runs.
Victoria out for 130 odd. Pyecoft, Bird and Bell all got the ball to do a bit on a helpful pitch. Meredith bowled with extreme pace - about 15 -20kph faster than any other Tasmanian and 10 -15kph kph faster than any Victorian bowler, although his line was sometimes off. His run up seems longer than last season.
Maddinson looked to be in good form and composed . After Pucovski hooked a Meredith thunderbolt with a well executed hook, Baggers and I thought Puck looked good. Meredith took a wicker with the next bouncer and then took Puck's with brute of a ball, that reared off a length. We were disappointed because Puck was looking good, and we were hoping for a big score on a pitch doing a bit for Puck to press claims for higher honours.
Even in international cricket, Puck will rarely face a bowler as fast as Meredith. Only Starc, Wood, Archer and Gabriel can bowl at his pace in Test cricket, and only at their quickest, whilst Ferguson can bowl at this pace for short periods in white ball cricket.
Tas were about 5-115 at the close of play. Wade battled hard for a hard fought 50 odd NO. Bailey scored quickly for 41 off about 60 odd balls, then got out to Holland when he looked set and untroubled. All Victorian bowlers, Siddle, Tremain, Boland and Holland looked effective. Good to see spinner, Holland, getting a wicket at Bellerive. Siddle was incredibly accurate, forcing batters to play just about every ball.

I've only just found time to post his!
Tasmania was too good for Victoria winning easily in the recent Shield game.
I think the attacks from both teams bowled well.
Holland also got some wickets. It was nice seeing a spinner succeed on Bellerive. He could've been brought on too late in the second innings though.
Tremain had his best game I've seen at Bellerive. Siddle was unerringly accurate.
Tassie's Pyecroft only has a short run up at seven paces, but generates surprising pace, and moved the ball off the seam when the pitch was doing a bit.
Baggers and I probably agree that Meredith should contest Starc's position. Meredith has express speed and considerable stamina with a 20 pace run up, bowls a few loose balls like Starc, but probably bowls more short pitched, intimidatory balls.
Unfortunately, he was too good for Pucovski who we desperately wanted to succeed, in order to play higher honours at Test level.
Wade scored two hard fought fifties.

There is easily room to fit two more Shield games into the season. There was a 10 day break before R 3 while there is a 13 day break between R 4 and 5. Never that crash hot at sums but if we had 12 rounds is that each team playing each other twice in a season?

Josh Inglis scored a few 50s in futures a few years back, but has only gone on to ave 28.83 in fc with no centuries. I’m a big fan of Hilton Cartwright who is very elegant batting all rounder but again hasn’t really lived up to his full potential. More a solid mid range performer at 34.55. He played a couple of tests against Bangladesh and Pakistan I think in 2017 back when he was scoring a lot of fc runs and averaging around 40 or 50. Plus a couple of ODIs in India . But then has petered out.

A coupla roads today one in Adelaide the other Sydney. Henry Hunt looks a good batting prospect. Yes he was not really challenged on an easy paced deck but he has a compact,tidy technique. Above all he values his wicket..not so evident among our other young bats.
