In the near future, we will have 4 or 5 smallish clubs getting 5 to 6k every game.  I don't see it as disaster.

The inequality of the a-league could lead to its downfall. If small clubs can't win championships you will see crowds, viewership, subscriptions  sponsorships dry up. It will become a boring league

It is even more boring if we equalise all clubs to the level of CCM.

I think we have to accept that there will be a gradual winding back of equalisation.  Pretty sure the English consultant won't be recommending that that continue (and the bigger, established clubs, who already have the clout will certainly pursue it).

As for keeping fans of smaller clubs interested, well, all over the world, there are small clubs.  Sometimes they exceed expectations, other times they meet them (and get relegated).  That's the way of the football world.

But it ain't they way of this country. Mvc and sydney fc have been dominant over the last half a decade and it has corresponded with less crowds ratings etc across the other teams especially the regional ones.

Winding down equalisation will be a disaster for the league.

The league has risen in quality and has also seen two teams dominate over the last 5 years. And the league's numbers have been steadily declining.

People care about winning over quality any day if the week

No, people expect to win because of the way the league was set up and run.

We shouldn’t tear down the league to give a sporting chance.

There is equalization via the finals.

“People care about winning” because they have been told they should win.

Just have a top 11 already and get it over with...

Really?

In the last 5 seasons four teams have finished top of the ladder including Adelaide and Glory.

Meanwhile, during this period of “dominance”, Victory managed to finish 6th and Sydney 7th totally dominating their opponents by missing out on finals altogether.

Dominance?

We’ve experienced a 5 year (now six) drop in crowds, that has to be arrested and reversed. But the cause is not dominance by any two teams simply because they haven’t dominated

and yes, meeting Libel I expect would be like meeting a Tax Audit special on a wet weekend in Geelong.

As usual, FFA picks the team without the population.

I'm not from Melbourne, but Team 11 had a ready-made football population plus 2 to 3 times the population of the Tarneit area. They just didn't have a football pitch. Can anyone from Melbourne confirm those as facts?

That's only 50 or so less than what the Mariners got on the same weekend.

That's only if it was a true figure.

It's always fraught trying to accurately guess a crowd number at a big cricket oval, especially when the majority are camera-side, so I don't concern myself with that sort of speculation.
I saw a tweet from someone who attended, not a football fan, going to his first ever A-League game, and he expressed genuine surprise at the size of the crowd, so I take that as a bit of independent verification that the crowd figure is pretty close to the mark.
It's not as if it's a huge number either, but for the moment, it's an acceptable crowd size.
My personal opinion remains that South Melbourne would be getting those sorts of crowd sizes with ease.

I honestly don't think it's an issue.
We know they can get more for big games, but to get around 6k most of the time is not a problem.  They have a good sized stadium, they serve a local and loyal community.  They give opportunities to aspiring local young players.
As long as the owner doesn't mind losing a quid year on year, they can happily keep plugging away.
If one day they get relegated, so be it.

Hahaha there are 83 people camera side! You are essentially asked to believe that there are at least 5,000 people in by far the narrowest stand which apparently holds 6,000. There are FA people outside of that stand and it is no where near half full

https://www.austadiums.com/stadiums/stadiums.php?id=101

Like Melbourne City, they are inflating the crowds to the highest level they can get away with where the most gullible (that's you) will still believe it
