I'm always the first one to stick the boot in to City, but it's a bit harsh to be critical with the smoke haze over the city from half the state burning.

I am fine with the capacity, wasn’t it expected? City probably can match Sydney FC numbers but need sustained success. I thought the crowd looked ok on TV. Would love that top tier covered or a suburban ground for them.

That's a pretty good crowd for City.

Exactly One of the things I find remarkable about A League attendances is that week after week after week they are the same but there is a drastically different reason cited for producing the same outcome

So why did the events of this week keep the same fans from attending for the last 3 months?

What I found interesting about the crowd was how many took advantage of the hill area instead of sitting on the provided seats. We still love a grassy area at our sporting events it seems.

From Sydney to Melbourne (Adelaide and Brissie probably affected as well), we are experiencing deplorable conditions with both the heat and smoke, the latter at unhealthy levels. In other words, our expectation should probably be for declining attendances over the next month, and the lowest average attendance this season that we've had for a long time.

Agreed What the heat and fires affect: The A League, ABC from 5pm til 7pm, Foxsports 505 What it doesnt affect: The BBL, Channel 7, Foxsports 501 and Kay Sports

You could have 5 sustainable Melb clubs if a bit of thought went into it.

It would help straight off the top if one of the three was an existing well-supported club with a long history.

A-League Round 13
WSW v BRI - 11,482 MCY v WUN - 8,577 WEL v CCM - 8,201 SYD v ADL - 10,219 MVC v NEW - 14,582
Given the poor conditions we've experienced the past week with heat and smoke, to get 53k in total attendance for the round is pretty good.

By professional I mean professional in all departments not just the football department and meeting both the FIFA and AFC licensing requirements as well as any A-League requirements.

Yeah, even better if they had a long term deal already in place at a modern, boutique stadium in the city centre. Oh well.

felt like there were more at AAMI Park last night. was pretty loud. I hope this isn't an incentive for more 6pm sunday games.
