in light of that article about the football brawl involving 50 people or whatever, here is a video showing the gulf between how much attention our thugery gets compared to afl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8EQRTwi0pw

vanbasten88 wrote:Thats great news on the sponsorship front..I wonder if this will hasten the mooted upgrade to corporate facilities at Hindmarsh? If the owners could tack on a lazy 200 extra seats, we'd be closer to that 20k stadium we keep getting told is the barrier to the Socceroos playing morte often in ADL:)
I got my phone call from ticketek last week. I was adding a gold seat to my original gold seat. everyone in my immediate area renewed so I had to move down a row and across a touch to get 2 adjacent seats...that tracks with the story of a high renewal rate...which despite the embuggerance in the short term is good news surely? My Visa was debited almost immediately of course and now the wait begins....tumbleweeds:( On the plus side, it has given me time to organise my trip to Brisvegas for the first rd3 WCQ against Thailand:) And don't we have an Olyroos game to look forward to as well? when was that? According to AUFC Facebook, they are working with Errea to get the kit release date locked down. they expected to have it out by now....nothing different, SNAFU for us Reds fans...what can we do about it though? The Olyroos have a " practice " match against a Joe Mullen coached state team on Sept 14th. I was same as RU in that I had to leave the Fed. cup final at full-time, so missed the penalty shootout

Quote:Reds embrace local clubsFriday, 19 August 2011 The journey of every aspiring professional footballer starts somewhere and more often than not, local clubs play a massive role in the journey. Support from the grass roots level is important part of the success of professional clubs, and members of Adelaide United’s squad are well aware of this fact. Over the past months, the Reds have been heading out to a host of local clubs to catch up with junior players from Adelaide’s local competitions. Reds players spent time encouraging and speaking with the kids during their training sessions while also taking time out to sign autographs and pose for photos. Clubs the Reds have been to in 2011 include the northern clubs of Munno Para, Salisbury and north east to Campbelltown, while they have also been to Blue Eagles, Woodville White City, and south to Sturt Lions and Seaford, just to name a few. The Reds will continue to visit clubs during August & September. http://www.adelaideunited.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=40659

Sorry to hear about the cock-ups, guys. I suspect these problems are a result of the changeover in my of the clubs back-room staff. Hopefully once they've got through this preseason they'll be able to get things sorted well in advance for next season. Hopefully, anyway...

The partnership with Continental is a massive boost - I wonder if we will see any further flow on from having secured such a sponsor? Well done Nick!

Finally got my call re seat change Pretty happy Though apparently the woman in the office originally allocated us seats that were already taken so we've been refunded and recharged
Hopefully for the better as I think the players tunnel MIGHT just be a minor obstruction Hope not
section 14 Row K108-11
we were originally the very back row of the upper deck against the glass so in theory these seats look great right on the halfway line
She said would be mailed out in early September so we don't all have THAT long to wait
Getting seriously excited for the season
C'mon you REDS!!!!!!!

Good spot mate, the players race doesn't really get in the way.

Pretty hard to detract from that. Now, the question for me is whether to enjoy those seats for that first MV game and sit with dad uncle and sister or to go around with the "plebs"(jokes) and enjoy a few bevvies with the mates that will inevitably want to go to the MV clash ESPECIALLY if Kewell is playing.

Fellow reds supporters, Im expecting a big tax refund this year and Im seriously thinking about sponsoring someone on a blue or red membership. If anyone knows of someone who would love to be an Adelaide United season ticket holder but probably couldn't because of cost I will be happy too. I won't do Gold due to the reserve seating and at least with an unreserved the lucky person at least can bring more people to the games without any seating hassles.
If anyone knows of anyone in this position I will be at the Gold Coast pre-season game hovering around the snakepit area. please note I would like it to be someone who has never been an Adelaide United season ticket holder before.
You won't miss me as I will be in a green Portland timbers top. In addition it would be nice to talk to anyone who is planning to make the Perth trip round one if they would like free tickets.
Im doing this because I want like you to make Adelaide United the most successful club on and off the park or at least in the top 2 (Melb victory will be hard to catch) and want to do my part as best I can.
I love Adelaide United and want to encourage anyone with a passionate south australian heart to follow the reds this season. See you's there Sept 9th.
exciting times ahead.

I don't know anyone (who couldn't afford to do it themselves if they weren't being cheap) so not gonna try and take you on it - though I will try and get to the Snakepit to meet you, I will wear my Ashnak fake Socceroos top ;) Will have my AUFC shirt with me as well though!

I have never watched the game from there, but I am pretty sure access is just from the rear bottom of the stadium on that side.

you just walk around the western stand foyer, its not block off, if the match against Gold coast is western stand only you usually during pre-season games see the active supporters stand there. I think they sell standing only tickets, Im not too sure but it isn't block off and is pretty accessible. you can see the pitch depending on how packed the snake pit is and how up front to the rail you are you can pretty much see the whole pitch.

yeah I guess its odd that in all these years I've never really walked past it at ground level.
I always went up to my members seats from the otehr side of the ground and when i sit in General Admission I tend to sit north east corner styles and always wondered who it was standing in there and why ahaa
Oh and like General Ashnak above I don't really know anyone who deserves a free season ticket. anyone I know could afford it themselves if they really WANT to buy one so I feel a gesture like the one you are proposing would be wasted on my dickhead mates ahaa

I think a pre-requisite is you must be a heavy beer drinker. Though i do remember fondly their " Cassio! Cassio! Reds supporters, FiveAA are having Simon Hill on every tuesday night around 6.30pm to discuss EPL, A-League, socceroos etc in general. If you's have questions to Simon text in or email fiveaa on that night and maybe they will ask about
Think what you want about Stevan Rowe and Graham Cornes and yes AFL is talked to death but consider this when the A-League season kicks off we will have two weekly segments devoted entirely to football for at least 15-30 minutes. One with Simon Hill and one with Adelaide United. We do get pretty good coverage through FiveAA even in an AFL saturated market.

Simon Hill will be on via phone. It will be like an interview but he will be on every Tuesday night around 6.30pm. cornsey and Rowey said on the show that if you have any questions you want them to ask Simon Hill email or text. Listen to the show for details. If anyone does this though please don't use this to turn into the silly Football is better, Afl sucks forum. Keep the question to football. Quote:I can imagine Cornsey is thrilled at this.
Well I listen to it last night and they are more than thrilled to have Simon Hill on. Yes AFL will always be number one in Cornsey mind but Im glad FiveAA give us the coverage they do. Lets make the most of it. I got my email read out last night about pluging Adelaide United that if you want to guarantee to see Harry Kewell play in Adelaide by and Adelaide United season ticket. Yes Cornsey may not ask the right questions at times but Im not complaining. Their giving football a plug on Five AA in a weekly segment. The other weekday sports show the MMM Rush Hour have Ross Aloisi on weekly, sure Ross is shit for brains and provides no insight whatsoever but it's good to have some sort of exposure.

Just bought myself two tickets to the pre season match.
Also arranged for my first regular season interstate trip to Melbourne, are many others making the trip on December 10th?

i won't be there unfortunately but I would reckon many would make the trip for that game. since its a Saturday night game and depending on form you could potentially have up to 500-1000 reds supporters there. Melbourne games (either heart or victory) will always bring a good number of Adelaide supporters.

This is what you get with duopoly in the ticketing industry. Honestly don't believe it would be that much to set up standalone, lightweight a-league ticketing functionality. All clubs could be involved/partners etc. I know they all have their own requirements, and maintenance would need to be shared but seriously the amount of pissing around getting tickets and the year on year cock-up of memberships is just ridiculous. Rant over.
