Can't imagine China FA ordered Liaoning out - but will give them the CFA 'blessing' whilst 'considering' a possible sanction. All about 'face'!
Jayapura would be baulking at the cost/benefit - regional team/tyranny of distance - likelihood of success/already qualified for AFC Cup(?)

Surely Pohang and AU will stitch up the two play-off slots?

Am looking forward to a potential double-header in Japan with Roar mid-week and AU or CCM the next week, since that's the way the ACL's scheduled.

I have managed to score a leave pass this weekend and am going to get over to the game at Etihad. Picked a great time to do this I know but the I want to experience a big match over there.

I have a question. This may sound obvious but I'm organising tickets and when I get to the site I can purchase a 'Visitors' ticket. On the stadium map however there is no 'Visitors' just the 'Away' area. I presume they are one and the same? If any road warriors out there who have been before can confirm this I'd be most grateful. Hate to be the sole voice of reason in a sea of unreasonable grunts :)

Im sure otehrs here will be able to give better advice
When I saw a game at Etihad it was by chance and I just sat in general admission but at AAMI I got in the away bay

Im sure Visitor's area IS what you need though

Im going to the game on Jan 13 at aami so im hoping we've had a huge form reversal by then

Well we are in the AFCCL and it looks like they are going to have 1 club go straight through and the other two play off for the remaining spot.

Yeah, nah. AU is in the ACL to the extent that you've been allocated a play-off slot:
http://www.the-afc.com/en/tournaments/clubs/afc-champions-league/935-afc-champions-league-2012/37285-acl-2012-slots-confirmed

No confirmation as yet about Liaoning and Jayapura, or any revised play-off format.
Might yet be a two-game round robin? Somewhere neutral? Or re-shuffle the East (3 teams into 2) and West (5 teams into 2) groups into two 4-way play-offs, like last season...

Check the link and countdown timer: http://www.the-afc.com/en/index.php

Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) Tuesday, 6 December 2011 at 4:00:00 PM MYT
Adelaide at 6:30:00 PM CDT
Brisbane at 6:00:00 PM EST
Gosford at 7:00:00 PM EDT

Interestingly, they're drawing the AFC Cup at 3pm MYT, before the ACL.

ADELAIDE United star Evgeniy Levchenko's quest to be named The Netherlands' sexiest vegetarian has attracted the ire of some of the club's fans.

The Ukrainian midfielder - who played in the Dutch league until he moved to Australia this year - is one of six finalists in the online competition and, at the weekend, used his Facebook site and Twitter account to ask fans to vote for him.

But several devoted Reds supporters took exception to the request, which came just hours after the club suffered its worst home loss, a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Central Coast Mariners on Friday night.

"Need to focus a bit more on performing on the pitch and helping the team get back on its feet, and less on how pretty you look, Lev," one fan wrote on Facebook.

Another fan responded: "Wish you cared as much about football as you do fashion and looking pretty."

Lev, who recently signed with Pride Models, said he understood the reaction of supporters.

"We all work hard every day because we want you guys to be proud of us. About my free time I decide it myself what to do and what hobbies I have," he wrote on Facebook. "Please try to respect that. Thank you all. Love u."

When I was buying tickets for Perth away at the start of the season, Ticketmaster didn't even give you the option of visitor or away supporters area. Instead you had to select the cheapest option in the east stand and it would allocate you in the away section.

RedEye, I don't like what you are implying here...

Are you saying that it is more important to you that he shows he is worth a place in our team by playing good football and doing his job by helping us get results on the pitch than it is to be seen around Adelaide as a bow tie wearing, self promoting veggo rusky steve erkel look alike here for a final paycheque from a coach that has no faith in local players and thinks if you played in Holland you must be better than everyone else in australia even at 32+ years of age when we let go fan favourite club servants for being too old despite the fact they were younger than said new recruit

  yep.

Lev is correct. He can do whatever he wants in his spare time. No one, not even the owners can stop him. But it's a pity he's too ignorant to understand that the perception he himself is providing is one of a player, at the tail end of his career, unable to secure work anywhere in Europe, here on a holiday and a pay slip.

I said weeks ago that once the general public catch onto his media loving antics, they will eat him alive. And that's exactly what's happened. Even at Hindmarsh on Friday other people around me were yelling "bow tie boy". It was funny but sad at the same time.

Im still waiting to see him and pancho(or barbiero) in the middle together with Dilevski away from there and at right fucking full back

then I will judge levchenko

Saw some extended highlights of the MV game in Rd2 (man it seems like a different season since then) and he played some nice balls in the 10 minute package ( i hesitated to use the words balls and package in the same sentence but oh well).

Until we see see him partnered with a more competent fellow CM I have tried not to judge too harshly and my slandering above is more just aussie dry humour

I am also hoping beyond hope Dilevski gets put in his natural position soon too

i WANT so badly to like these players but fuck they are making it hard this season

Agree in that we haven't seen enough of him on the pitch as opposed to off it.

Actually don't mind Lev on the pitch. Seems fairly composed etc, etc. Off the pitch he is an absolute media slut. Don't really give a crap about that though if he dominates teams, pulls the strings, gets assists. He can wear his bloody bow-ties on the pitch as far as I'm concerned

Agreed, and as I have said before if we were sitting top, unbeaten and banging in goals he probably could be on his way to sort of cult hero status.

Trouble is when fans are angry they wanna see players busting a gut not whoring themselves.

Anyways, I want to like him so let's see what happens once he gets a decent run of games together with a settled line up(if that ever happens this season)

Pretty excited about ACL though I must say

Tough group but so many memories. Hoping this settles the mood around the place.

Though I noticed the bigger story in the Tiser today was veart saying we have no heart

Ugh

I'm excited too but I kinda wish we were playing some teams we haven't played before. Apart from Gamba I have good memories about Pohang and Bunyodkor and the way we are going at the moment it will ruin them.

Especially Bunyodkor, best game I've experienced at Hindmarsh but it was really a miracle that we won that game. Hardly had a chance all game until a cross took a deflection and Diego managed to score then they fell to bits. Don't think lightening will strike twice!

Pohang (1st home game, 2008) for me. Wasn't the most exciting but the maturity, control and desire to win the ball we exhibited in that game was awesome. God I'd love to see us play like that again.

Assuming Pohang win the qualifier, The FFA will have to move our glory game on the 4th. It's at Hindmarsh but would still be impossible to get to, especially if it's on the 6th

I hope that Pohang gets the last spot, our group will be a gold mine for the club and the AFCCL here as we have history and a lot of brilliant and horrendous memories of the AFCCL run involving these teams :D

I'm torn between wanting an easier opponent and wanting one with history

As far as i know we have never lost to Pohang though so who knows

Either way I'm so excited and has lifted the mood of my thoughts on United for this week after a horror weekend to the point im genuinely excited again to watch Saturday night's encounter

Obviously I'd watch it regardless but for some reason Ive allowed myself to be optimistic again. Backs against the wall against biggest rivals etc

should be a cracker

possibly 0-0 I guess but will be a hard game/battle of that there's no doubt

I hope everyone on Twitter remembers to remind our players that if nothing else happens in the HAL this season for us they are under an iron clad obligation to beat MVFC 3 times at a bare minimum.

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is its not just about football.

I said something along those lines to Lev when he said he was on his way to hindmarsh

To paraphrase what i wrote it was basically ; it all starts again here. We're in the ACL now and beating MV is the best way to celebrate

Sportscover Kick for Cash

Tuesday, 6 December 2011 5:37 PM

After the lucky winner is decided, they’ll have the opportunity to go onto the hallowed turf at Hindmarsh Stadium in front of the fans at half time and kick for cash. At the Adelaide United v Gold Coast United match on Friday 16th December, the winner will go on the pitch, shoot to aim through a target and a spot on kick will see the kicker go home $50,000 better off!

I remember this comp last season and the diameter of the hole you had to shoot through looked about a centimetre larger than the ball.
Would be nice if sportscover gave someone a sporting chance this year.

Boarding the Red Army Bus in a few hours, have a horrible feeling of apprehension. I'm fantasizing about the feeling if we even pinch a point let alone win:) I have this Dutch voice in my head answering the question of So, Can we win? with "ya, for sure!"
to hear that voice, listen to this:)
