As far as I'm aware, there are many coaches and a few flying. Could have anywhere between 100-400 at the Stade de tard.

Remember lads to tune in at 3 to Dom Rinaldo & Kossie on 5AA, the show has been getting more popular but they said it needs more interaction from listeners to expand from the 1 hour timeslot. Give them a call or SMS of you're turning in. Its 1395 AM.

Galekovic set to notch up 100 for Reds

Tuesday, 13 December 2011 3:36 PM

Adelaide United FC goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic is poised to become the fourth player to make 100 Hyundai A-League appearances for the club when the Reds face Gold Coast United at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday night.

Barring any mishap between now and Friday night, Galekovic will follow Travis Dodd, Robert Cornthwaite and Lucas Pantelis as the only players to reach the milestone.

Of the Reds’ current crop, only Cassio has been at the club longer, Galekovic’s Adelaide United debut coming against Brisbane Roar on 2 November 2007 after he was signed mid season to replace the injured Daniel Beltrame.

On his way to 100 Hyundai A-League appearances for the club, Galekovic has picked up two Hyundai A-League Goalkeeper of the Year awards, as well as being named Adelaide United Club Champion and Player’s Player twice.

“It’s always an achievement and it’s good to be playing it this week against Gold Coast,” Galekovic said.

Since arriving from Melbourne Victory, Galekovic has gone from strength to strength and scarily believes he is still yet to reach his prime.

The 30 year old has only missed six games on his way towards his 100th Hyundai A-League appearance for the club. He was rested for a period during the Reds’ hectic 2008 AFC Champions League schedule, while a hand injury kept him out of three games last season.

“I think I’m at the age where in the next couple of years I’m probably coming into my peak and hopefully my form continues and helps the club out,” Galekovic said.

His reputation as one of the league’s best shot stoppers could easily see Galekovic as an enticing lure for overseas clubs, but on whether he was still considering a move abroad, the keeper with four games for the Qantas Socceroos to his name says he is more than content at the Reds.

“It (a move overseas) is always there if it does come up, but I’ve got a couple of years to go here and I’m happy here,” Galekovic said.

“I’m not really looking to go, I’m happy to stay in Adelaide and I love it in Adelaide so I’m not really pushing the case.”

Despite the Reds being equal with Gold Coast United as the clubs to have conceded the most goals so far this season, it has not been from a lack of quality performances from Galekovic, who was again a standout in the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory.

28 clean sheets from his 99 appearances to date arguably does not do Galekovic’s talent and contribution justice. While the Reds have only managed two clean sheets in the first ten games this season, Galekovic sent a clear message that the players were galvanising behind each other and particularly embattled captain Jon McKain.

“It has been tough. Results haven’t helped, we’re not playing the best football but we’re staying united and we’re backing everyone including our captain, it has been tough on him this year, but all of the payers, the coaches and the club are backing him and we want to move forward and get some results,” Galekovic stated.

“I think everybody was saying we’re going to be top two, top three and if you look at it on paper, individually we’re very good players, it’s just as a team we’re probably not playing as we should. It’s a shame but we’ve still got a long way to go and we’ve still got time to get there.”

Friday night’s game against cellar dwellers Gold Coast looms as a danger game for the Reds. The Hyundai A-League’s other ‘United’ team were unlucky not to get three points against Sydney FC last weekend and Galekovic does not believe their position on the table reflects the football they are capable of producing.

“It’s a massive game. Obviously they (Gold Coast United) are below us on the table and it’s a game where we’re going to be favourites and going to need the three points to stay in touch with the top six, so we’ve got to work hard this week and hopefully on Friday it all turns for us,” Galekovic said.

With Galekovic contracted to the club up to the end of the 2013/14 season, it is probably fair to suggest Adelaide United’s last line of defence is in safe hands.

Tickets for Friday night’s match are available through Ticketek.

Will you be attending Reds games regularly? Or only big games/games against the Mariners?

Also, why the hell would anyone decide to move here?

Returning from injury. Still one of Rini's favourites I would say.

"Media pressure is there when you're not playing well," he said.

Well after 10 rounds Spase, media pressure has doubled because the team is still underperforming, there doesnt seem to be any clear system and you are still being played out of position. Defense lacks composure.

Still optimistic that you will be good enough this Friday though, and that things will eventually 'click'.

Out warm up's before the game are a joke.

I know no one wants an injury in the warm-ups but our 'low intensity' approach is pathetic. There doesn't seem to be any coaches out there running them through drills etc. It got that bad that I saw Bruce orgainising the attackers in a crossing drill on Friday night. There wasn't a coach in sight. Now I know Bruce was playing the lone striker and therefore needs to get the communication happening but the fact he started this and got it organised without a coach initiating or driving this was a worry. What was worse was the midfielders were doing there passing drill and kept losing the ball and it was flying into the attackers when they were trying to do there thing. In other words no bloddy organisation. Half of the half wasn't even been used

To top it off a couple of people in suits (presume injured players) where out there just wandering around having a joke with the players warming up.

The way we start games is terrible. We seem half-asleep with really basic errors (control, short passes not reaching there man etc). I know it's not a silver bullet but a concentrated warm up focussing on quick reaction skills and some professional intensity would make them a lot more focussed for Rini's pre-game talk, keep that momentum going onto the pitch and BOOM were in the right zone. At the moment we wander out, have a kick around and then dribble into the rooms before kick off.

Seeing CCM warm up it wasdisciplined, organised and at a high enough intensity to get the focus on the pitch right. It just looked professional where as we looked like my kids U9 warm up.

I know there's a lot wrong but just some basics might start to help get in the right direction.

When Stubbins was around he was always in the thick of the warm-ups, I honestly think him leaving has been the major problem.

maybe there's still a split between the old Adelaide that are still there and the new Adelaide. Maybe we need more of a clean out of the old Adelaide City contingent....?

Who are the players and/or staff from Adelaide City that you think should be cleaned out?

Hey Coverdale, i noticed you've been very active in the South Melbourne threads with your usual hate mongering... especially with ridiculous comments like "spot the Anglo".

Now, can you please tell me who these Adelaide City people are that are now involved with Adelaide United, and are responsible for the clubs poor performances this season?

Or is this just another one of your absurd and borderline-xenophobic statements?

My sister's partner doesn't like Adelaide United because he's a Eurosnob. However, he's a Greek-Australian with an old allegiance to West Adelaide and he just makes excuses by saying AUFC are City in disguise. Not that it matters to me but I really think the "Italians/City contingent" are long gone, whether that's a good thing or not.

excited to hear young Liberian refugee Teeboy Kamara has been named in the matchday squad for tomorrow night's clash with GCU at Hindmarsh. Should he get on the pitch, he will become the youngest debutant in HAL history:) I hope he does well, we could really use an attacking mid with some pace and creativity:)

At 15 years and 212 days, Teeboy will become the youngest player to play in the Hyundai A-League if he comes on against Gold Coast United, surpassing James Virgili, who made his debut at 16 years and 180 days for the Newcastle Jets against the Wellington Phoenix on January 4, 2009.

A member of the Reds’ National Youth League squad, Teeboy’s selection on the bench for the senior team caps off a remarkable story and journey of a teenager born to Liberian parents who found a haven in Adelaide.

The club is falling apart. Getting new owners was meant to be the start of something big. But the first thing they did was sell our best player, the best player in the league, someone who gave so much to the fans, and for that the fans loved him. They signed a coach on 4 year extension despite him possibly getting us a wooden spoon in his 2nd year. Players who just don't seem to care. And now we have fans throwing punches at each other at both ends of the pitch. Things are not good

Yep. i was in the east stand but after the final whistle it all unravelled. Weeks of frustration i spose. Security ran in to stop it.

There was also a near brawl out on Manton St after the game but it was nothing much.

Eitherway, there was hardly any away supporters tonight. These fights were all amongst ourselves.

It'd be nice if we could say "let's now use this year as our transition year".

Van Dijk will be 30
Levchenko will be 34
Dilevski will be 29
McKain will be 30

these aren't spring chickens. They're old city pigeons, swirming with disease (and walking frames.)

the fight in the southern end was started by a bunch of GCU fans sitting amongst the AU fans. Complete fkn tossers, thought they were a bunch of tough guy hereos yet the only person to cop a punch was a girl. CCTV footage will see a few of them a bit lighter in the hip pocket and a decent ban from the stadium.

I sit in the stand just above the Red Army so i saw the fight. Some idiot launched at someone from the Red Terrace. No idea what for. Most of the Red Terrace are young teens, and this guy looked like a middle aged bogan. One cop capsicum sprayed them, which got everyone even angrier. Some idiots kept fighting, trying to act tough. Then having a go at police and security. Don't blame cops and security, you shouldn't be bloody fighting. Was not a good look at all. Always thought the Red Army was full of tools, but this tonight was disgraceful. Nothing will change. The club turns a blind eye to anything the Red Army does.

Nah i dont think the club turns a blind eye mate. We banned someone this week for 5 years. not sure if they're part of the red army or not, but they are certainly trying hard to sort these wankers out. At this stage though, the club (or rather the players and coach) are part of the problem.

When you're subjected to some of the worst football in Australian history, it hurts the heart, hurts the back pocket, hearts the fkng head too.

And when you add former players, assistants, a doctor and former A-League boss all throwing in their 2 cents, and you have a recipe for disaster.

He was the one who started it. He leapt across 3 or 4 rows of seating to throw punches at a 16 year old, ffs. Him and his bogan mates are fucking idiots, they also managed to punch a 14 year old in the back of the head who had nothing to do with it.

It wasn't Red Army vs Red Terrace. Although their was a lot of people jumping to conclusions.

Although their was a lot of people jumping to conclusions.

hmmm there must be more to this story as i can't imagine him doing anything without reason or being provoked. He has a very public figure after all, being interviewed in the paper and is always filmed by Fox cameras.

i don't know for sure, just prefer to withold my judgment at this stage. For all his commitment, i prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt.

The guy's parading around on facebook - he's made no effort to conceal his identity, so I thought I'd help him.

Currently telling people to "be carefull" what they say about him in relation to tonights events.

Seriously, if Adelaide United want a positive PR outcome from all of the negative on field dramas, ban this muppet.

Dingy you should remove your post.

You were not at the game and your are taking one person's words to slander the individual publicly.

Innocent until proven guilty. Everyone knows who he is, so CCTV will pick up any indiscretions.
