+x+x+xSo with Juric coming, I'd imagine our starting XI would look something like this: Delianov Strain Elsey Jakobsen Kitto D'Arrigo Mauk Troisi Halloran Juric A Toure The $1,000,000 question is where does Lopez fit in or will he fill a variety of positions and plug some holes? Lopez is better than anyone you have in that back 4 He's probably the best player at the club but we don't know where he'll play. Hard to say. Corona played out of position and was brilliant - often true with these Spaniards.

Going by one of Vaert's comments in the presser, it seems like Troisi will be playing in the front 3 so I guess Lopez will slot into midfield. That would give us a starting XI of: Delianov Strain Elsey Jakobsen Kitto D'Arrigo Lopez Mauk Troisi Juric Halloran And the bench probably will be Oschenham, Marrone, Timotheou, Caletti, Konstand, A Toure and one of Pacifique or Kusini Rest of the squad would be scholarship players.

I think Timotheou will start over Elsey personally, Elsey has been poor for 18 months. I am expecting: Delianov Strain-Jakobsen-Timotheou-Smith Lopez Mauk-Troisi Halloran-Juric-Niyongabire Don't think Veart rates Alhassan that highly personally, and I think judging from the friendlies he is a big fan of this Noah Smith who I must admit I don't know a great deal about, the Left Back spot is the obvious flaw in this team. I think Veart loves Niyongabire and Yengi so think they will get a bit of game time, lot of depth for that LW spot with Niyongabire, both Toures, Costanzo, Dukuly and Yengi.

The last two signings have certainly upped my optimism for the season.
Toure will get plenty of chances up front too as there's no way Juric will play every game in a season.
Toure, or whichever other 2nd striker, will likely start at least 1/3rd of the games and play a good 20-30 minutes of most others I dare say

But Don’t really buy the “Adelaide United means so much to me” lines. had chances to return to the club that gave him the platform to head overseas. Then chose Melb City (club that held him back as a youngster) and Brisbane when returning to Australia. And only returned to AUFC when things turned sour for him.
Too much bullish!t in today’s game. I suppose that’s just the way it is.

Do you know that there wasn’t?

Seven days until our first game and I'm so excited.
What's everyone's predicted XI?
This is what I'm expecting in round 1 given Kitto had surgery recently, while Al Hassan, Juric and Lopez probably won't be fit enough to start.
Delianov Strain Elsey Jakobsen Smith D'Arrigo Mauk Konstand Halloran Yengi Dukuly
Oschenham, Lopez, Caletti, A Toure, Juric
If we take 7 subs over, then add Timotheou and possibly Jonny Yull to the bench.
That XI looks very inexperienced but still somewhat exciting. Some of the kids aren't well known but they are all very promising (I don't know much about Smith tbh) and could really surprise some people.
Lopez and Juric would make a huge difference with the experience and class they would bring as would Troisi's replacement when he eventually arrives.

Yared Abetew has been promoted to the first team squad.
For those who don’t know, he’s a CB but can play RB and DM.

Does anyone know if Elsey has ever been approached or proposed of a move overseas? He's been a mainstay and I find the A League players who do well over a longer period the ones who should attract some interest.

I think he was linked with moves away after his breakout season in 17/18 but since then he hasn't hit the same heights. Whether he has got complacent after signing a 3 year deal or the lack of competition for his spot has hindered him (or both) I'm not sure.
