The revival starts this Friday. \:d/ You're probably right about the crowd, General, but I live in hope. Don't think the Coasters draw all that well.
Loki, history is there to be turned on its head. [-o< The injury horrors have got us both and now you're even selling your goalscorers. I still think we both might stumble into the finals. All I know is that I want to break any link that ties us to coming second to you guys ever again!! :)
The ACL? It seems far off now doesn't it? If we can get our squad up and going and bring in a couple of new players for the comp then it might be OK. A marquee even? Please. One more quality CB and one more quality striker and I think we'd give it a decent go again. New front of shirt sponsor being announced today. All we need next iss an owner.

Dodd wants another parochial crowd against MarinersWednesday, 9 September 2009 Dodd acknowledges the United faithful. © AUFC With his imminent return from a calf injury, United captain Travis Dodd is looking forward to seeing another large parochial pro Reds crowd at Hindmarsh Stadium for Friday night’s game against the Central Coast Mariners. After missing the past two games, which saw Dodd miss a match in the Hyundai A-League through injury for the first time in over fours seasons, the inspirational Reds skipper is back training with the main group, and is ready to lead from the front against the Mariners. Obviously disappointed with United’s results in the opening five rounds, Dodd knows the players must get the Reds wagon back on the right track, and he believes another big crowd at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday night will make a considerable difference in helping The Reds secure all three points. “Our crowds here have been right up there with the best of them this season,” Dodd said. “We’ve had some great turnouts for our home games so far, and while some of the results may not have been what we were after, it has been fantastic seeing the amount of support we have had and it really does give the boys a lift when the crowd is up and making lots of noise.” From three games at Hindmarsh Stadium this season, the average crowd at Adelaide United home games is 12,453, a number made the more impressive by the fact that the Australian Rules season (the State’s other major football code) is still going, as well as rain falling for the majority of the match against North Queensland Fury two rounds ago. Dodd says the excellent crowd numbers are a credit to all of the club’s supporters, and that he looks forward to the team fulfilling its end of the deal by producing results on the field. “Our supporters have braved the cold and the rain and it just proves we have the best fans in the A-League,” Dodd said. “We cannot thank them enough for their support and hopefully they can turn out in their droves wearing their red and we can do the right thing by them, and that’s beat the Mariners on Friday.” here

Cassio aims for revivalRICHARD EARLE September 10, 2009 12:00am ADELAIDE United's missing marvel Cassio has declared he's "100 per cent" over a troublesome calf injury - and any drama involving coach Aurelio Vidmar. Midfield linkman Cassio insists he can front for 90 minutes in the Reds' time of need against Central Coast Mariners tomorrow night at Hindmarsh Stadium - despite being sidelined for a month. "I am ready to go and training well. If I play I expect it to be for 90 minutes. I don't go out on the pitch expecting to just last for 45 minutes," said Cassio, who is set to join skipper Travis Dodd in returning from a calf strain against the Mariners. "I spoke with Viddie and agreed I'd tell him straight away if I am having any difficulties. "I will give everything I can for the team. "We have to change our placing in the league." His dialogue with Vidmar is rock-solid, a month after sparks flew when Cassio expressed a desire to return to his favoured left-back position from left-midfield. He said no team is immune from disagreement and some debate is healthy. "I am fine and have confidence wherever I play. Everything that happened is in the past," said Cassio, who expects to fulfil his contract and "remain with United until 2011". "Everyone has problems at some stage and I did a few weeks ago but that was it," he said. "There are no issues. I have good relations with everyone. "Usually when I have something to say I just say it but then move on." Cassio played with famous Brazilian outfit Flamengo from 2000-04. The importance of winning is ingrained in Adelaide's Samba favourite, with the club currently languishing in ninth spot. "When we play at home, we have to think about our spirit. The crowd wants us to win and be entertained. We have to win," he said. "We need to rebuild from our position on the table." Adelaide's contests with Central Coast are usually absorbing and unpredictable. The Mariners achieved a 3-3 draw after trailing 3-0 in the corresponding fixture at Hindmarsh last season. Adelaide lost 3-0, then won 1-0 its visits to Bluetongue Stadium in 2008-09. "They are a physical side and we have had problems against them before, but you have to adapt," Cassio said of Lawrie McKinna's third-placed Mariners, who upset Perth Glory 2-1 in the west last round. "It will be hard work, so everyone has to find 10 per cent more in their game when things aren't going so good. If we do, we should win."

A shirt with a sponsor looks better than without; regardless of the logo... maybe... :p
I'M GETTING ONE, SO WATCH OUT FOR THE ASIAN DUDE WITH THE HOME SHIRT WITH OWUSU'S NAME ON THE BACK AND JIM'S PLUMBING ON THE FRONT! :p

Can you even begin to imagine how many we'd sell if they had RU's Cooper's logo on them? They'd walk out the door.
Deep sigh.......All the same, now Jim's one of us I guess I have to love him. At least he's a sponsor that ordinary fans can support. I didn't have a lot of use for the heavy earthmoving equipment Sakai sold. At least I think that's what they sold.

Sakai sold stuff? I just thought they sponsored AUFC? We couldn't have Coopers, we already had Carlesburg - but saying that wouldn't it have been sweet to have them as our front of shirt sponsor? Red kit, Carlesburg on the front... Maybe we could have confused a few guys playing in England and gotten them to front for us as injury cover?

Oh yeah. Can't believe how happy it made me. Not just the win but the way we came out to play. Cassio and Dodd fired us up. Cassio lifts the team no end. Extend that man's contract.

Cassio is going to be here until at least the end of 2011, how about we add another 2 years to it if we can? Pants was actually not bad this game, at least he didn't make me go #-o! MV is going to be a cracker, whats your blog on this week Stephen? Crowd number prediction will by 15,500 for this Friday. Standing room only if the weather stays good (17,000). Expecting a close match, MV will be hurting and always seem to have more endevour away from home. 4-3 result to us! Owusu to score a brace with a bookend by Dodd and last gasp winner from Shin mark 2! Edited by General Ashnak: 14/9/2009 12:31:51 PM

Really looking forward to the owusu v muscat match up.
the reds could sell tickets just for that.
The reds update said that reid is injured. hopefully it is minor and he can play
because there is no way that i can see hughes stepping up.
Pants has been playing good and i think the contract talks may be affecting him in a good way.
They should keep the negotiations going because otherwise i will make a voo doo doll of pants and stick pins in the dolls face if he goes back to playing like a girls blouse.

If he was the 17 who played for the youth team (I think Redcup says he was) last week he was very quick and really stood out with the other promoted boys (Monterosso and Costa). I'm loving the way we're bringing the youth through without too much pressure.
