I sure hope Fyfe, Hughes and Pantelis disappear... I think that I've emphasised enough on that in recent months.
They scouted Shin... but have left him in the Youth League for the last 2-3 months... what's up with that? Monterosso was promoted from the Youth League squad, but he's still playing his trade in the NYL... what's up with that?
I've talked to a lot of AU supporters over the last couple of weeks and we all agree that Viddie will probably be considered redundant once the new owners come in.
COME ON YOU REDS! I would like the new owners to come in and take out the board and see where that goes first. I think the pissant comment last season had more meaning then we know now no one is in charge And that’s my problem also. 11 months on and what has come of it fellas? JACK SHIT. As a paying member I deserve the right to know what it was all about. Even the greater public deserve to know seeing as Vidmar publicly shat on the city also. Nothing has come of it! 11 months on and we are none the wiser. All swept under the rug! • We were told there were certain players who were causing trouble. We de-listed Costanzo, Salley and Diego. • Rumours spread that it was these individuals who may have been causing problems. • Ross Aloisi came out into the public shortly after and backed Vidmars statement. But no players were named. • Last week Phil Stubbins said it was a mistake to release Salley and Diego. So they couldn’t be the players in question. • That leaves Costanzo perhaps? But Vidmar said “players”… so where are they? Are they still with the club? Are they still causing trouble? I said on here watch the crowds slide after the GCU game. Last week we had the lowest crowd of the year. Watch that number continue to slide. People can only take so much. AU “Board” needs a complete cleanout. Enough is enough.

Raising issues with the club appears to go nowhere as you receive a bog standard response which basically lets you know your feedback/concern/critisim/praise has ended up in file 13. We may have more luck with the FFA, but at the moment they have bigger fish to fry and haven't seemed very interested in actually offloading AUFC. Really this would be the perfect thing for either the AUFC supporter group, Red Army, to be involved with and the FSFA (which is in embryonic stage). I don't see much action coming from the RA to be honest.

Well here it is. Couldn't restrain myself because I'm excited! No doubt 442 will have this up as a story soon but for us Reds supporters... Interestingly Leckie is in the squad. I thought he was out for surgery. Still no Owusu but lots of the young guns. Marrone, Mullen, Monterosso, Shin. Who-hoo! I won't care so much what happens if it looks like we really have a red hot go. Quote:ADELAIDE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB MEDIA RELEASE FRIDAY 11 DECEMBER 2009
REDS TO COME OUT ROARING IN BRISBANE
The winds of change have swept through Adelaide United FC’s squad as The Reds search for a much needed win at Suncorp Stadium against Brisbane Roar tomorrow night (Saturday 12 December 2009) in Round 18 of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 Season (Kick-Off 8.30pm ACDT).
Coach Aurelio Vidmar, who will return to coach from the sidelines after serving his two match ban, has shown he is not afraid to ring the changes as The Reds look to take all three points and lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
Defensive pairing Robert Cornthwaite and Mark Rudan, along with Lucas Pantelis and Adam Hughes, have all been left out of the squad that lost at home to the Newcastle Jets last Friday night, while midfielder Kristian Sarkies is also out after suffering a quad injury.
Coming into the 15 man squad is Brazilian Alemao, as well as defenders Daniel Mullen and Michael Marrone, Korean midfielder Inseob Shin and young striker Francesco Monterosso, who all played in United’s Youth Team last week.
The Reds’ Youth Team have won their past three encounters, and while there may be a significant rise to the intensity of the Hyundai A-League, Vidmar has faith in the personnel he has brought in and is confident they can upstage the Roar.
“We just felt that we might have had a few issues with the back four somewhere and everyone is finding it difficult to put a finger on it, so I thought it was a good opportunity to reward some of the players that have been doing very well in the Youth Team…it is a good opportunity for those boys to step up and see what they’ve got,” Vidmar said.
“We’ve been going the same way for a number of weeks and we are in the same situation today that we were in four or five weeks ago, so I think it might add a little bit of freshness, let’s hope they can go and give a good fist of it and I’m sure they can.”
United have not tasted victory since a Round 11 home win over Sydney FC, and as each game becomes more crucial for The Reds’ chances of featuring in the finals, Vidmar has put an emphasis on his players fulfilling their responsibilities for the team, and he is confident that if this happens, the results will start to take care of themselves.
“Strikers aren’t scoring, we’re conceding goals. It’s one unit, so everyone has got responsibilities to defend, responsibilities to do work in the midfield and to attack, so we should see this as everyone has got responsibilities to work for the team and tomorrow we’re putting out a team we think is going to win this game,” Vidmar said.
“I think we’re capable of beating anyone on any day. The only thing we’re thinking of is that we are playing as a team, giving everything we have possibly got and making sure everyone is responsible. If we do that, we give ourselves the best possible chance of winning.”
The match will be United’s first at Suncorp Stadium since they defeated the Roar back in October last year, the result upholding The Reds’ unbeaten record at the venue.
But for The Reds to keep this impressive record in tact, they will need to get past a Brisbane Roar side that is growing in confidence as each week goes by.
Sergio Van Dijk did the damage with a double in the Roar’s win over the Reds five weeks ago, and Vidmar is well aware that United’s defence will need to be on its guard to close down the Dutch marksman on the wide expanses of Suncorp.
“It’s quite a big pitch at Suncorp and they’re a very good attacking side…so we’ve still got to be wary that we don’t leave ourselves open, but we’re going out there to win the game – absolutely,” Vidmar said.
“What we’ve got to make sure we do is still create chances…and make sure when we do get those opportunities, that we can actually really nail them.”
“This will be a real mental test for us, and I’m certainly happy that I know where my players are mentally, that they’re up for the game.”
A United win would put the Reds equal on points with the Roar and right back in the finals hunt, and Vidmar will be hoping his injection of youthful exuberance can do just that.
Kick-Off is at 8.00pm AEST (8.30pm ACDT).

Well my mobile is running hot... getting messages about a top story that just ran on Ch10 news. i'm sure the websites will pick up the story soon...
Rudan axed. By far our best defender this season and one of our best players overall.
Didn't we say he was going to cop it for speaking out last week?
You cannot tell me this is purely coincidental.
I'll say it again and again and again: The club is rotten to the core.

How on earth do you drop Rudan? I've avoided 'sack Vidmar' themes until now, but does he actually watch that team play? The man is an utter FOOL (not my first choice of adjectives). Flakes and Hughes is fair enough, but for heaven's sake, you do not drop players who are doing their job ... well, normal people don't. Who's next? Eugene? There's a go, let's drop Galekovich, but don't bring in that Birighitti kid, he's good too, so he'd need to sign someone from the local leagues, preferably the State League because they're the bottom of the tier.

http://www.a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=31356You can listen to the full interview here. 4 mins long. Sounds like it was conducted at the Adelaide Airport just before boarding this afternoon. Vidmar would not state why Rudan has been dropped from the team. He said "there were a few issues with the back 4" but would not elaborate and then stated at least 4 times "whatever those discussions are with the playing group will stay between me and them". The reporters are all shocked of course and keep asking inquisitive questions. The reporter then asks "Rudan did came out last week quite strongly with some words" and Vidmar states for the record that it had "absolutely nothing to do with being dropped". Rudan spoke out last week about the clubs problems but never named or shamed anyone. He spoke with heart, determination and care on the matter. AU fans were nodding with approval. Rudan has been, by a country mile, the best defender for us all season. Tell me Viddie what f*****g issues with the back 4 involves Rudan??? Most AU fans have called for Rudan to be made Vice-Captain, an opinion i disagree with ONLY because he probably won't be with us next season. That's the ONLY reason i have. I think he is a real leader and a gun of a player. Rudan has consistently been awarded a place in the Life FM top 3 AU players for most games he's played. An outstanding effort. Mullen finally gets an opportunity. Great. So why isn't he replacing Fyfe who has faltered so many times??? WHY THE HELL HAS RUDAN BEEN DROPPED? CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN IT TO ME? Vidmar, i simply do not believe you. I have no respect for you.

I've got no idea RedEye. Rudan is far and away the best defender in the squad, yet Fyfe still plays. I wish I knew how coaches thought - but even if I did it wouldn't make any difference.
All winter season I saw my local club play the same keeper who was absolutely hopeless, he would have made a good forward but that would have meant running and maybe him giving up his ciggy's. The same coach also ignored a midfielder with vision and awareness to his surroungings. All I can say is the problem will be fixed with new thought, and as much as I like Viddie it's time for him to move on. After 2/3 season he's still doing unfathomable things. I just hope he get's away with it this week 'cause he does seem to be trying.

To be honest, Rudan only "looked" good because of a few of those crucial saves he's done in the last few games leading back to our win against Sydney. Let's face it, our defence is still leaking goals. Bringing in Mullen and pairing him up with Fyfe (yes, he is a CB and not a RB) may actually do us some good - though I would have rather seen Fyfe dropped instead of Rudan. Thank bloody goodness Viddie finally dropped the two midfield idiots of Hughes and Pantelis!! Praise the Lord! Now we can have perhaps a little more creativity in the midfield with Reid, Shin, Barbiero and Dodd all a possibilty of being in the centre of the park. Cassio and Alemao may also get a chance here, although I think we may see them in their usual positions of subs for left mid and right back respectively. Now what to do with Leckie, Owusu, Cristiano and Monterosso?? Let's play a 2-4-4 system and have them all on field at the same time! :D Joking aside, I really hope we start with any double combination of Cristiano/Monterosso/Owusu up front... Leckie, I would like to see dropped back into mid. So something along the lines of: Galekovic Marrone - Fyfe - Mullen - Jamieson Reid Barbiero - Dodd Leckie Owusu - Monterosso
Bench: Shin, Cristiano, Cassio, Birighitti Edited by RedsUnited: 12/12/2009 12:58:07 AM

Fyfe should be out. Rudan should be in. It's as simple as that.
Owusu is not playing for the seniors tonight.
Cassio would always start in my preferred lineup.

Just dont like cassio's tracking back really did open us up last week if he plays at lb Agreed. As much as we all said we like Cassio at LB, his tracking back was terrible last week. The reason why I'm not too fussed about dropping Rudan and Cornthwaite is because the team is doing shit right now, and there's no worse place to be than bottom of the ladder - so why not try a few new things? We know Rudan may be a good defender, but has Mullen and Fyfe been given a chance together as a CB pairing yet this season? The way all this experimenting will go, maybe Viddie will start Shin... who knows! :p I'll be looking forward to see how we play tonight regardless. :)

On a completely different topic, Pohang defeated CAF champions Mazembe last night with two strikes from Denilson. Let's hope we get good form going into the ACL, and take points from the Chinese and Japanese clubs, and maybe hold off Pohang as much as we can.
