I keep seeing an ad on The World Game website for a MV ACL shirt for $120!!!!!!!!!!
Is it just me or is that ridiculous for a piece of A-League merch??? [-x The Melbourne Victory online store sells home and away shirts for $125... which looking at the Adelaide United online store is the same as you guys.

That's insane. I can't see how they can morally charge any more than say $80 for it.. $99 at a stretch!!!
I think members used to get 5% discount at the stand in the ground...cheers

Quick question
I'm moving to Adelaide in the next few months and want to play football for someone but have no idea what the quality is like and where teams are. Going to probably be living in North adelaide, adelaide, norwood area (near the uni). I heard the uni has a team but not sure what quality is like?? Any suggestions

Our top league is Super league, there have been many players from this league who have made it in our professional league. Next is Premier league ( I suggest you start here, if you're good the Super league clubs will find you ) I wouldn't join the Uni team, it'd be better to join a league team where football is taken far more seriously than a bunch of academics having a kick and giggle. Start with Comets maybe. Go to the FFSA website ( www.ffsa.com.au ), find out where the clubs are located ( most have their own websites ) and just roll-up @ training. I got mine for the next two games just after the Phohong game too, so I'd be asking questions about missing tickets. Regarding playing for local clubs - I'm not sure when the cut off for registrations is, but you'll need to look into that. Having said that, lots of clubs are short of players at this time of year, so if you're any good, spots are available. It's a three tier local league, Super League, Premier League and State League, and there is a quite a variation is skill levels - don't assume you can just walk into any club and get a kick. The amateur league is pretty big though and if you're unsure or miss out on one of the 'clubs', amateur league should give you a good run while you work out where you want to go and where you'll fit in. Shit mate, I echo what red wombat and Reds United said - get on the blower and hassle 'em. I payed for mine @ members day, and the Tix had to be sent from the head office > Hindmarsh then finally posted to me by the club, but I got 'em a couple of weeks ago

You would have hoped with all the contact information they collect when you buy tickets, that they'd call people and let them know their tickets haven't been sent out.

When I entered Hindmarsh last night instead of scanning my ticket via the turnstile Tiketek had two young women there scanning using portable scanners. I was held up as one of these girls who had never been to Hindmarsh before and didn't know what street/gate was what or where the seat #'s were ( eg P105 & which gate to enter by ). This gate was only entry for this seat and after I tried to describe my seat and the gate I was entering through in a LOUD voice she let me in without scanning my ticket!
This happened with most of the punters after me, holding people up.
Obviously Tiketek are crap, please anyone from United who reads this note and the others here - BRING BACK VENUETIX!!!

Hmmm... the scanning device at Hindmarsh gates must not work with Ticketek barcodes??? lol
I actually have had very little problem with Ticketek. I had little problem with Venuetix either. So either will be ok with me. :p
As for the win last night, great resolve by the boys. Is that the first time we've come from behind and won since... ages ago? :p

Big game tomorrow night. It's good to see that the boys are now focussing on topping the group after last week's win. Complacency will be a big test that hopefully they all get over.
The starting lineup is pretty much perfect right now - and with guys like Cassio, Barbiero, Griffiths, Boogaard and Reid on the bench, the depth has increased a lot too. If Viddie was to rest some players for tomorrow night, hopefully Cassio and Barbiero get slotted in somewhere, perhaps for Jamieson (who has been slightly below par lately) and Pantelis (who has actually shone lately, but may need some bench time), respectively.
I'm excited. :D

Got the Adelaide High old scholar's newsletter today, and read that Osama Malik is an old scholar too. He's apparently playing for "Queensland Fury".
Anyway, with the Fury back up and running and player contracts up in the air, which Adelaide boy would you guys want to see back here playing in the red shirt?
For me, I really wouldn't mind Spagnuolo, Malik and Marrone back here with us. Even Agius would be alright. But I don't know how Malik, Spags and Agius would get any game time in our current squad.

Fred Agius has returned to City, as for Malik & Marrone. I have this feeling that Malik will pop up for Raiders this year, I also feel that Marrone chose to play in the tropics - and who can blame a young man for wanting a change of scenery and life in a new town WITH a good pay packet. If he changed his mind I'd like to see him in a red shirt next season.
Viddie's treatment of Cassio worries me though! Without game time the little wizard may make a move.
The loss away was a bit worrying as well, but I have a good feeling about the Pohang game.

I would love to see negotiations re-start between Marrone and AU. Fancy that, i've spent the last 4 months cursing his departure and now there might be a small chance of him coming back??

Yeah there was an article in the 'Tiser today about Marrone perhaps wanting to stay with us. That'd be nice. I also saw a lot of hysteria about the Adelaide Oval redevelopment. I really can't see how that 450 million bucks is going to benefit anyone except the AFL - cricket won't benefit because they rarely use the facilities they have now and with the length of the AFL season, the A-league won't get a look in except at the height of the cricket season where the pitch will be too hard to play good football on ... all assuming they magically create seating that allows you to attend the game rather than view from a distance. What we need is for the Entertainment Centre to get so popular that they have to provide some decent carparking for it ... which we'll be able to piggyback off. Richard surprised that he's missing regular games so much.

Yeah there was an article in the 'Tiser today about Marrone perhaps wanting to stay with us. Cheers for that.. here it is: The Advertiser wrote:In form, in limbo, Reds star may stay Val Migliaccio From: The Advertiser April 07, 2010 9:24AM MICHAEL Marrone will not rule out staying with Adelaide United if cash-strapped North Queensland Fury's financial crisis becomes untenable. Marrone signed a two-year Fury deal before the club became the third franchise in five years - after Perth Glory and Adelaide - to be placed under the interim control of the Football Federation Australia last month. "I don't know any of the legal side or anything like that," Marrone said. "It's not really for me to say (if I stay with Adelaide)." "If it comes to that and if there's no contract available (with Fury), I'm sure I'll look at the options and see what's best. "I don't know what the FFA would do to be honest. "I'll be giving the PFA (Australian Professional Footballers' Association) a ring to have a chat." Marrone - currently starring for Adelaide as a holding midfielder in its 2010 AFC Champions League campaign - said the uncertainty of Fury honouring its new long-term player contracts was somewhat unsettling. "I'm still trying to work out things," Marrone said. "I've heard I'll be contacted soon and I should know within a week or so what's going on." The FFA last week guaranteed that Fury would be part of the new 2010-11 season. Marrone revealed officials had promised to deliver him a contract update last Friday but he was still waiting for news from the PFA yesterday. Marrone said making sure he's a starter in Adelaide's side when the Reds face Pohang Steelers at the Steelyard on Tuesday to ensure Round of 16 qualification was all that mattered right now. He said he was comfortable in his new role which he's made his own since a 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix at Hindmarsh in December. Marrone said the Steelers was one of the great footballing sides of Asia after the club won the Champions League title last year. "I'll be trying to stop them playing zonal and lining up by stopping the balls getting to the strikers' feet," he said. "I'm trying to protect the back four as much as I can." Adelaide needs to secure a point to win a knockout stage berth next month if either Shandong Luneng or Sanfrecce Hiroshima gain maximum points next Tuesday. However, if Adelaide's Group H adversaries draw in their clash in Jinan which kicks off at the same time, Adelaide will qualify even if it does not claim any points at the Steelyard. While Perth Glory has found new owners and Adelaide is close to announcing the handover to the Alan Young consortium, Fury became the A-League's latest financial casualty when owner Don Matheson relinquished control of the club to the FFA last month. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/in-form-in-limbo-reds-star-may-stay/story-e6frecj3-1225850798767

Hi everyone! Not dead, just busy with other stuff. Have let lots of stuff slide lately with work comitments etc. Is it just me or has the Young Consortium been about to take over AUFC for a few weeks now? I wonder if they will be held off until it can be anounced for the last home game of the qualifiers for the round of 16?

Making them a fully operational entity after the group stage of the ACL.
