+xSorry about the double post ^. No idea how it happened, but can't fix it as the edit function isn't working. It works on my Desk Top but not my phone, FS.

+x+x+xGoing to be a tough day in the field this. Temps predicted to reach 46 deg in the west, but only 35 deg in the city. Sometimes that can be worse, it's usually more humid and can be stifling. Aussies in a good position again. After day 1 in each test match so far... 4 - 248 4 - 257 3 - 283 Also, good luck to those in our fire affected areas. It could be a tough day, it's been ordinary up to this point, hope we get some rain soon. often in bowler friendly conditions too! Yes only 35 in the CBD and surrounds but that is hot enuff to make things uncomfortable for the Kiwis in the field. So our plan of attack will be to bat deep into the day and cook em. There is,tho, the very likelihood of smoke haze disruptions. That is hot for cricket!

Two paced wicket after two balls from Cummins in same spot behaved differently.

Now Cummins is clocking over 140kph balls, as well as Starc, high speed through the air works well in Aus, but how much is this genuine speed needed for success in other countries?

Relentless, accurate genuine pace from Cummins!
Nothing to hit for the Kiwis from 3 perfect overs.

The Missus just told me it was over 48 degrees in Penrith. How hot is it at the SCG?

Lyon would have taken Blundell’s wicket if onfield umpire had given it out, as DRS showed ball just hitting wicket.

Its great for all flat and bouncy (these guys are tall too) decks. SA it is definitely a benefit if they don't over spice the pitches. Depend on what pitches they ask for. NZ roads - its great for. (But when it swings, you ideally want swing). But we have more roads than not since 2012/13. WI is more swing and nibble typically, but Wood (eng) and Gabriel (wi) had a short ball 150km/h contest one match last year on a fast bouncy pitch. Lots of batsmen were getting pinned.

+xThe Missus just told me it was over 48 degrees in Penrith. How hot is it at the SCG? Yep hottest day ever in western Sydney I am hearing. We had our hottest day ever in the south too at 44. It musta been around 38 in the middle of the SCG. I did not see much play today. I did see that it is a slow paced deck tho. Kiwis will like the fact that they can now put on a good reply to our score. Labuchagne continues to impress.. his first Test double.

I can’t help but feel Australia, like most home teams have had lot a of close umpiring decisions going their way. That is until yesterday, where the Kiwis got a few decisions.

Yes but in easy batting conditions as these are now. The close decision against us.. like the one drongo ump Nigel Llong missed or ignored against Blundell.. hurt badly. Gonna be a very hard slog for our bowlers to take 20 wickets on this sponge bed. CA is going to regret not picking Swepson.

+x+x+x+x+xlots of aggression early! And we lose a wicket. Not sure why the agression is needed. I'd rather us bat forever in this heat Wade's position is now in jeopardy. He has one 50 from his past 5 matches. That is simply not Test standard. No posters here as per usual. Including me today. Got a function. shame I'll talk to myself! Head cuts and is gone off an edge That was a shocker.. far too close to cut. Head really is not a Test standard batsman. His ton last match really has only saved him from the executioner's sword.. for now. DC did join you grazor so you weren't alone.

Where would we be without him ATM?
With Smith being reduced to mere mortal.. Marnus is the new superman. Yes DC where would we be without him this summer. He has been the standout by a country mile. His first 100 was done under some trying conditions and pressure but his second was on a flat top. This is the flattest SCG deck I have seen in a long while. We all know why too.. dont we.. CA has to ensure that it goes the full five days to partly recoup its losses from the past two early finishes.

I haven’t talked much about Labu, but again his new revamped technique, has taken pressure on our lack of batting depth.

Picking Latham to get a century today. BC total 280. Marnus the surprise packet with the ball.

I thought Cummins and GOAT bowled well yesterday without luck.
I thought Patto and Starc were innocuous by their own standards. Josh H has been far more consistent than either’s performance yesterday - and was missed.
However, they probably bowled in extreme heat yesterday.

Cummins and Josh H do very consistently over consecutive Tests. Patto did in the last Test, but lost pace, fire and accuracy yesterday IMO. Home and away in no particular order, Lyon, Paddy C and Josh H are usually our most consistent bowlers. Starc can be the most lethal at times.
