Troll city on WP. I post that we use archaic rolling and covering methods compared to say England.. and the troll gang come out in force saying they think the current methods "are cool".

+xI wonder if smiths form slump is due to his team-mates doing well he is excellent when our backs are against the wall but may drop off a bit when we dominate There may be something in that. But his figures show he drops form when the short ball is bowled to him.

+xlots of aggression early! And we lose a wicket. Not sure why the agression is needed. I'd rather us bat forever in this heat Wade's position is now in jeopardy. He has one 50 from his past 5 matches. That is simply not Test standard.

Paine’s strike rate is slow on this pitch compared to the MCG.

Just watching Tim’s last pull, which he kept down as opposed to lofting many, he didn’t seem to pivot onto the back foot as much.
It was more more like a front foot pull.

+xI wonder if smiths form slump is due to his team-mates doing well he is excellent when our backs are against the wall but may drop off a bit when we dominate I’m sure it isn’t. It may may be something to do with the Archer Strike. One former Tas Vice Captain, a TCA Member, claims that with his effective but unorthodox technique, a fraction of a loss of his hand eye will mean the end for him.

Astle really turned that last ball sideways and induced a Paine thick edge next ball - and the next delivered a sharp turner to Labu.

Drinks 5-393.
Labu 199 NO.
Paine 30 NO.
I’m enjoying a new player in Labu having success.
For so so many I know off Forum, Warner and Smith are damaged goods because of Sandpapergate.

He has one 50 from his past 5 matches. That is simply not Test standard. And his age, plus glaring technical weaknesses. Allan Border said after South A, Paine was one of the best technicians in the team and he would bat him higher in the order. His issue seems to be concentration lapses.

I think this has been a pitch where a lot of players have gotten starts and gotten out and you are never in on Makes the 200 pretty impressive

Good C and B from Wristy Astle.
Labu out out for 215. Great knock!
Where would we be without him ATM?
Paine bowled through the gate, which Skull identities only happens at very specific lines with him.

After 205, Labu has gone from not even selected in the team, to one of the best batters in world cricket.
Funny wicket as Wagner dismisses Patto ducking into a short one that ricochets toff him to hit wicket.

I think Astle looks potent as a leg spinner, but is it this pitch spinning big?
Another wicket to a googly from Astle - Cummins out.
Aus 9-430.

Jamieson drops Lyon in the deep off Astle.
Astle starting to look potent.
Starc uses cow shot shot to hit him for 6!

Aus now 9-454.
Looks to be a good total given NZ devoid of Jamieson as Wagner sends Starc’s stumps cartwheeling!

Another thing I’ve enjoyed is much better spirit between teams since Sandpapergate.
Both Starc and Lyon laughed, as did Wagner, when he hit them in the body from short balls.
There has also been friendly banter between teams at drinks breaks and other stoppages and at the end of Tests.
