So with expression of interest from the FFA for a National Second Division what clubs would everyone like to see in it? i would propose a 14 team competition to start and every state and territories should have a club in it. obviously nsw and Victoria have more clubs.
It should be a mix of NSL clubs that can afford entry with good facilities and new clubs formed.
what would be your NSD sides?

I'm just going to cut and paste my post from last year.
14 teams for me. Canberra Utd Tasmania FC Wollongong Wolves Western Pride (Ipswich) Sydney Utd Marconi APIA Blacktown City South Melbourne Heidelberg Melbourne Knights Team 11 (if they are interested & can find a ground)/ otherwise Hume City Brisbane NPL team (Lions/Strikers/City) Adelaide NPL team (West Adelaide?)
Room for a team from Perth (Perth SC/Fremantle City) or Gold Coast (GCU/GCK) team if they want/can afford it, at the expense of the 4th teams from Melbourne/Sydney. 2nd Brisbane NPL team if Western Pride/Ipswich not interested.

Can we put CCM in the 2nd division? They're in their comfort zone when theres no fears of being relegated.

Adelaide City APIA Leichardt Brisbane City Brisbane Strikers Heidelberg United Marconi Melbourne Knights South Melbourne St George Sydney Olympic Sydney United 58 Wollongong Wolves That's 12 teams and imo we could potentially going up to 16. The likes of Canberra, Dandenong, Tasmania, Gold Coast or wherever else people have expansion boners for can wait there turn until the clubs that actually pushed for this have the opportunity to step up for this.

Would prefer completely new teams as i doubt many if any of the new teams would be able to attract many fans. Woollongong would be okay, but the others would just be intruding into the current teams territories and would struggle to pull fans.

I think we should start a thread called What are the top 14 'Who should be in the 2nd Division' threads.
Once selected all 14 can then play off in a 2nd Division championship thread so we can establish the actual 2nd Division thread winner.
Or at the very least we should start a working party...

Ccm can bring young players through, and on sell them for a profit, that's their sole purpose, according to their powerbrokers. With transfer fees introducef, they will then be able to do this from the NSD. No need for their lower standard performances in the A League anymore.

Yeah its a shame people use a football forum to talk about football. There should be a single thread called "football discussion" and every post should be in that thread Now where's that thread about whether what the RBB said constitutes as homophobia....

I think it needs to be a smart mix of new teams and current NPL sides, I think throwing in heaps of Sydney/Melbourne based NPL sides may not be that effective as it will just chop up current fanbases and wont have the greater benefit to the top level of football in Australia. However I think as well that some NPL clubs should be used or modified to be at the NSD level, possibly merging some clubs in certain cities

Adding 5 sydney based clubs almost on top of each other and right into both SFC and WSW wouldnt be ideal, just gonna destroy what we currently have and if anything most of these new clubs need to build onto what we got. Same in Melbourne, WU and MC are already struggling enough and adding 3 more clubs in the same area will not help.

I reckon there will be a huge amount of applicants. At least half will be unrealistic. I reckon we can comfortably lock in South Melbourne, Wolves and Brisbane Strikers or City. I'd be very surprised if any of those weren't part of the 2nd div. I reckon if they are interested, Team 11 would be another lock. If there is a solid bid from Adelaide I reckon they would be a lock. The real fight will be the other 7-10 spots. There are a solid 5-6 Sydney NPL clubs that could be contenders but some of them will need to miss out. It will come down to money for them. WA, Tassie and NT have travel expenses against them. The FFA may be looking to minimise costs, at least initially. I reckon the FFA will price many clubs out of contention.

pretty presumptuous to make a list without seeing which clubs express interest. maybe there will be enough for 3 tiers. or more.

Would WSW have work if they were called Parramatta Wanderers? Looking at the map of Sydney it looks like you could fit 2 or 3 teams in the west of sydney?

+xI reckon the FFA will price many clubs out of contention. thats what they did when they established the HAL, although what many of the effniks didnt know is that at the same time they were bankrolling teams like SFC and MV.

I'd say Canberra, but they should already have an a-league side.
Other than that it honestly doesn't bother me; whether its new franchises, old effnik sokkah, or a combination.
I just want it off the ground, and to be sustainable.
Also plzzz just make the last placed club in the A-league go in a two legged play-off with the premiers from the second div. So no auto pro/rel but still a shot at something, and incentive to win...and punishment for licking the bag just like the Mariners this last half decade.. It can't be that hard to implement but you know, it's football in this country.
