Trump's accused of wanting to start a nuclear and yet he's only one of four US Presidents in history that didn't start one. At all,

If this General did speak to his counterpart in China, then that's treason and he should be court-martialed.

But I guess if you are a General without a war than you yourself are siting around doing nothing, you're soldiers are doing nothing, the military-industrial complex is doing nothing.

Why would a General want a President in the White House that isn't starting wars?

The point is they were worried enough, based on his erratic behaviour in the final days, that they were genuinely worried he would subvert the democracy of America and in effect stage a coup to continue his presidency and/or go rogue by starting a war as a sideshow. (Wag the Dog style.)

Either of those are a worry.

Watching a bit of commentary around this has been interesting though. Firstly they're saying it's great that people within the government can hinder and/or stop a president from going 'rogue' but it's NOT great because they can go against what a democratically elected president wants.

So it's a very, very tricky scenario.

In any case Trump was clear off his chops in the last few days of the presidency and interviews and transcripts from 2 Pulitzer prize winning journalists confirm it.

Didn’t he assassinate a general of their biggest rival?

The only reason he didn’t start one is because Iran kept Their cool.

He tried to start a war.

Yeah I know. Enzo has no idea. Obama who ramped up drone strikes by multiple factors was outdone by Trump who signed off on even more but you won't hear about that. (Did Obama start a war or just continue one?)

But yes, Trump didn't start a war so there is that. Credit where credit is due.

Negotiated with the Taliban though whilst not including the Afghan government in said talks so there is that. Well done Trump. Biden fucked up the withdrawal but the disaster was set in motion a year ago.

Not to mention he released 5000 taliban soldiers, lots of high ranking ones too, sealing afghans fate.

To quote Oscar Wilde, there only one thing worse than being talked about and that's not being talked about.

A tape of Donald Trump allegedly confessing that he enjoys being peed upon during sex (or watching others do so) “probably does exist”, according to former British intelligence agent and Russian specialist Christopher Steele, despite the former US president’s repeated objections that it doesn’t.

The video – which reportedly showed Mr Trump watching two sex workers pee on a bed (once slept in by the Obamas) in the presidential suite at Moscow’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel while he was visiting Russia to attend the 2013 Miss Universe pageant – first came to public attention two years ago, with the release of the Mueller report.

It's weird the way the right wing feels that government should not interfere with private businesses...
Right up until the point that it personally benefits them for the government interfere with businesses.

I just don't get why anyone assumes it's their democratic right to be allowed on a privately owned message board.

You can go stand on a street corner and spout nonsense but you can't go into a business's front lobby and do the same...

None of it will matter, his supporters will follow him to the end - whatever the outcome. It's now a cult.

I've been flicking on to newsmax and foxnews on my new tv set up just to see coverage, their late night seriously has ads running from church loonies with him holding a bible.

yeah, mr grab 'em on the pussy, paying for porn stars...real bible man. They're utterly deluded. They love him because he lets them hate.

Oh for sure. Trump could cut a baby's heart out on TV and rusty would be here defending him.

How's old mate that got so riled up by Trump's rubbish that he went down to the FBI with an AR15 and got himself shot dead. That ended well (not for him obviously) but imagine if he got past security and shot up 20 people. That would be directly on Trump.

Trump is seriously deranged. I can't believe the Republicans are falling in behind what is, without a word of a lie, a threat to democracy.

Ted Cruz is the worst.

Imagine if he and his supporters were black or muslim. Imagine the charges for Jan 6, the election lie and pressuring of officials post election.

Surely his time has run out, if he has secret documents and someone ratted him out for having them then he's had it. He could only be doing that for leverage or to sell.

Cruz is hilarious - what a cuckold. The republicans all know it's lies and trump is crazy but they go along. MAGA is 100% a cult.

MAGA gonna eat themselves alive.

They're dropping trump like a hot cake, pushing De Santis - Trump won't take it.

He's in a pickle - he probably needs to announce a run, which is the last thing republicans want at this moment. Watch the infighting, Trump has already threatened to dish dirt on De Santis.

And if he doesn't run, one would imagine he's in some legal strife.

Absolutely fantastic isn't it. Trump showing his true colours, in that he is nothing but an egomaniac who is willing to destroy anyone or anything who gets in his way. The fact that DeSantis is as much of a Trump/MAGA ally as they come is irrelevant.

Given how unpopular Biden is, the inability of the republicans to win the midterms in a landslide hopefully suggests many conservative-inclined Americans are beginning to see through the Trumpist populist charade.

I'm no expert but I too thought that given Biden's unpopularity the Republicans would romp it in.

Early days but maybe the wheels are starting to wobble on the Trump bus.
