+x+x+xIs this true that Ruiz Diaz kid hasnt been offered a full time contract at the Mariners? The kid looks to have the tools to become a decent player. Did some digging and found this. “Diaz hasn't been seen since the end of the season. He hasn't trained and isn't part of the players group. He refused to play NPL (Monty didn't want him anyway and wouldn't play him unless he was directed to) He was offered an extension of his scholarship but turned it down - obviously hoping for a full contract especially seeing Muzz was leaving. He could well be waiting for that offer to materialise before signing. One of the Youth team has been offered a scholarship but hasn't accepted it as yet as he too is holding out for a full contract.” https://www.ccmfans.net/community/threads/mariners-squad-2020-2021.6620/page-16 Given the kid has shown he can play at this level along with the fact that he's an u20 international for the Young Socceroos as well. It might be a small thing but it shows the disconnect in the game, the FFA's interest with the national teams has one thing over the aleague clubs squads interests with the other. really disheartening... genuinely one of the best young talents coming through in the a-league... cant get a fulltime deal.. instead they sign a 22 year old playing in the 4th division of holland... incredible.

To be fair Dan Bouman is an Olyroo, but agree it’s not the best way in handling the best young talent around. Need a better solution.

From a Victory point of view, it seems like we have signed the bulk of our squad. by my count, we have 17 players plus a rumoured striker and CB. I can't see us signing any more players on top of the last 2 visa spots with the 30% cut in the cap. So how are other clubs going? I'm not hearing a lot talk on how/what other clubs are doing/going in putting their squads together in this tricky time. All the talk I'm hearing is about the exodus.

I expect most clubs are similar to Victory - you just aren’t hearing about it.
Roar have (17 or 19) players (depending on who’s counting) and are rumoured to be signing another Pom and an AFC registered player.

Carl Veart said Timotheou was good, post game. He seems like he’s a fan and will probably give him a contract. Caletti also apparently played fairly well too. So did Adelaide Blue Eagles.

Matt Ridenton back at the Nix. Surely that’s his last chance at AL level.

+xMatt Ridenton back at the Nix. Surely that’s his last chance at AL level. He is only 24 years old, has over 100 AL games experience, and is a very serviceable squad player. He has a lot more years, and potentially clubs, in him. Particularly with the apparent quality drop league-wide, and the troubles the league faces in attracting visa players, I see him as a sensible squad signing for a lot of clubs.

Unlike a certain other clubs visa signings, their visa players have good cv’s and didn’t flop in League Two.

+xGraham Dorrans will sign for WSW at 12pm. A 33 year old who last played in the Scottish Championship, very, very underwhelming. I get finances are tight but still, I can’t see this being a good signing.

He has a good pedigree, somewhat similar to that of Joe Ledley, and they're both around the same age. Was also at Rangers before signing for Dundee, so it's not like he's been grabbed from a bargain bin: the guy is a fully capped international. Decent signing imo, but will be interesting to see how he handles playing in a different climate.

I’m getting Dario Jertec vibes here. He was 34 and spent the previous few seasons in the Croatian second tier and actually played really well in his first few games before dropping off massively and was shown the door during the covid break. I think the same will happen here.

Don't think the hard Australian grounds will do his legs any good. Got a shocking injury on an atificial pitch. Decent player though.

I find it interesting that Robinson elected to bring him in, rather than bring Ledley with him from Newcastle.
