Cameron Devlin is 22 FFS, how long was he supposed to wait for a game at SFC?
Maybe if Victory played Theoharus more he would’ve stayed

Offer the young boys a decent first team contract and play them instead of over the hill has beens and they'll stay.

Pasquali is a very poor example if you're trying to say Victory don't give youth a shot, he was only 16 when he was given plenty of time in preseason with the first team including the Juventus game, played in three of our four FFA Cup games and played in two of the three games of the league until Ajax came calling. This was while his competition in midfield was FBK, Rojas, Valeri, Troisi, Bozanic, etc.
And while he did return to Western United, we only saw him in their shirt one time in a whole season.

Yeah we gave him an absolute fair go, he performed well and then one of the biggest clubs in the world came calling. If anything we did right by the kid, he just didn't kick on at the Ajax academy. Theoharous was with us for longer but still he got a good amount of game time and then got picked up Borrusia Mönchengladbach. If you're 18 years old and one of these big European clubs come calling, you just have to go. Yes it's important to make the right move and get as many games in as possible but the chances of you becoming a top player decrease the longer you stay in Australia. If MV could have sealed some decent transfer fees out of those two, I don't anyone would have really questioned the move.

Then why would they use Pasquali in the write up? Are they trying to say that he wasnt loyal? Same with Theo.

I felt the inference in the article was that we didn't give Pasquali a chance before he went elsewhere, but saying he got "only" two games when he left three games into the regular season is pretty disingenuous, probably unintentionally mind you as Joey's a good journo.

I do recall Pasquali was used off the bench for a little time, I dont think he even started a game before he went to Ajax.
In general apart from Thomas Deng, I think Victory have a poor track record when it comes to developing young players into the first team.
Ive seen with the likes of Negro, Waring etc get little chances and recently Josh Hope who was destined for bigger things but given he's lack of game time since he's debut he looks to have regressed, this is the same player that came out from the AIS and now at 22 looks to be a shadow of himself.
Victory better be careful that the likes of Kirdar, LLL or whoever don't fall on the same way side previous players have experienced.

Reads clearly to me and a pretty clear reference.

Agreed lets hope these passed few games have opened the eyes of not only victory but all clubs.
