City are a football farm. They'll train plenty up and write off the cost if they don't make the top level but still carve out a decent career.

The home nations have selected plenty of League 1 players. England don't need to as they've got the pool of the higher level. League 1 is ever improving and as long as you're sharp and get into a bit of space then you can score.

City loaned Robertson out as he's too good for youth but won't break into the excellent first team. That's OK. He can hopefully move permanently and be in good stead at a new club with a solid football education. 

What I can't understand is that our one player in a top 5 League, Genreu, can't make the Roos squad and even when he does, fails to start.


But oh man we have fallen since that 3-1 win over England all those years ago in terms of the comparative starting 11s.

Playing in Ligue 1 doesnt mean much if you don't make a difference for a national team.  He did played a whole game against NZ and didn't do much or stand out at all. Maybe when we play Maldives in world cup qualifier Arnie should try him again.

I think this is the reasoning. I'm comfortable with it. Kuol has struggled with continuity since moving to Europe and is starting to find some. There's merit in not interrupting that. 

No McGree today who came off limping last time. Hope he's alright for the international window. 

It's a foot injury to McGree. Surely that's something tricky that takes a while. Here's hoping it's just a precaution.

Doesn't appear so. Just Coady on to close out game. Reports of a good game for Souttar but the game fitness is still building so that'd explain the late sub.

I don't put too much weight on their comments mind you. It's not that they don't say true things when they give specific criticisms, I disagree with what they emphasize though....

Souttar with 80 out of 91 passes which sounds impressive but Vestergaard hit 180 out of 189

Irvine with two assists and Metcalfe scores at the end in a 5:1 rout of Nürnberg. 

Mabil 2 goals, assist & MOM - great to see. Laws 90 mins as well. Bos got some mins in first win of the season.

I'd question if those stats for Vestergaard are correct. 189 passes in a game, or 2 passes every minute? Seems way too high.

Concerning that, after playing 90 mins of all but one of the first 7 games to start the season, Circati has been an unused sub for the last 2 games?! Hopefully after losing overnight, the Manager will go back to what was working and start him again. 

Volpato unused sub again. I wonder if Arnie spoke to him about the upcoming friendlies, or whether he just wasn't considered due to lack of minutes? Still think he can be massive for us in the future, with Robertson along side him.
