Just saw all the goals. 3 off corners and a pen. They'd be pissed about that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPAtsMiVLbM

+xOk so which psycho is oakleigh fan? Due to the relative quiet of the forum we might adopt a previously unvoiced principle that allows us to accept a poster as they name themselves in the interests of having discussion... If they are who they say then great - a new voice. If they aren't who they say but they proffer reasonable comments and generate discussion with the 'thread owners' then no harm no foul...?

Copper? Copper?" hahahahahah

So disappointing for the lads... I cant think of more than 1-2 goals we copped from set pieces all year and to cop 3 in one game? Nevermind, its behind us now, on to next season..... luckily there is EPL and WC to tide us over until Feb 2023 :)

I would expect some commentary in the Macarthur Bulls thread at least though if he is serious about it all. Not as much action in baiting them as there is with direct opponents throughout a season so not so likely to generate the impact.

I would expect some commentary in the Macarthur Bulls thread at least though if he is serious about it all. Not as much action in baiting them as there is with direct opponents throughout a season so not so likely to generate the impact. Never interacted with MacArthur fans, don't know what they are like. Few weeks ago, I didn't even know these forums existed, didn't even know there was a thread for them. They are an A league club who probably don't even know where Oakleigh is located, honestly don't think they would care about a lower tier club. Don't give Oakleigh much of a chance anyway, think they'll lose quite easily. Im not here to bait as you put it. Weeke ago I just typed in google oakleigh vs south Melbourne, somehow came across this thread, thought to myself, oh cool, there's actually a forums for the NPL vic teams, maybe they'll have good discussions about the upcoming game and so on. Instead i find a bunch of South Melbourne fans trash talking Oakleigh. I wasn't sure why, and i wanted to know why, as from what i've seen, most Oakleigh fans are/were South Melbourne fans. If Oakleigh didn't make it to the final, and South did, id be supporting for south, same with many Oakleigh supporters. But anyway i later found out on here, there's some kind of rivalry between the 2 clubs from years ago, that i had missed out on. There's nothing wrong with abit of rivalry anyway, makes the games more interesting and fun. Im more then happy to learn more about South Melbournes history, as i didn't follow the league before A league, Nsl was it? I remember seeing some footage at lakeside, few months ago when they beat Oakleigh, there was footage on the tv's of South playing in a final against a team called Carlton. What is the story behind that? Did this Carlton team have any affiliation with the AFL Carlton? South won, the crowd looked pretty big, im assuming it's probably most south Melbourne fans fondest memories? Honestly made me wish i was into the sport back then.

Wasn't at Oakleigh for long, moved up Northern suburbs, wasn't around the Oakleigh crowd or whatever. I switched to play AFL later. How would i know about the history? I already admitted I didn't follow the league growing up, AFL was what i followed growing up. Genuinely curious about that Carlton team though.

The thing that annoys me most is that we refuse to have more than 1 striker on our books. Even if Harrison Sawyer didnt depart for overseas on the eve of the finals the chance of an injury is always in play. For a team that plays our style where the big forward is crucial to our direct style of play you'd want a backup. We just booted the ball long all game and it always came back with interest.
The injuries in the semi finals killed us and then losing Mikkola just before half time was pretty much the end, to rub salt into the wounds he gets taken out with an elbow that leads to a concussion and nothing happends to the Oakleigh player. Our bench for a grand final simply lacked quality, Oakleigh are taking the p1ss out of us by having one of the leading scorers in the comp on the bench (Wade Dekker).
2 strikers, 2 centre mids and a winger are an absolute priority next season.

Wasn't Ingham brought in as cover for striker/winger though? Huge flop for me, the guy was never match fit and apart from one banger against Bentleigh I cant remember him on the ball much? As for your shopping list, I think well need another winger on top of that Mikkola is gone next season and wouldn't be shocked to see Ingham, Irwin, Brennan and maybe Wallen depart for various reasons... Norts dad tells me his expecting a baby soon and reading between the lines, Sunday may have been his last hurrah although I would hope we give him a send off game next season at least. I guess it all depends on what the plan is on NSD starting or not and when ... Interesting times ahead.

The other 3 will likely go, either not good or enough or injury prone. Norton is a tough one, pains me to say but he is actually one of the worst left backs in the league now, special player in his peak under CT but his time is up. I think Schroen is done as a starting 11 player as well. We need to bring in some good ball players and Esteban needs to change his tactics, we can’t string 3 passes together.

Ingham was getting heavier and heavier as the season went on, complete flop. In Estebans defence (and I was a big critic of him last year) even though we had the second worse record for passes completed and one of the lowest possession %s in the league we still finished top, with 6 points clear, 15 or 16 clean sheets and 60 goals for......

+x+xMSC Good luck for the season.... Thanks Mid..... Gotta say, seeing your Mariners serve it up to the "big boys" has made me happy for you this year too. Thanks... our chant is """ Nobody Rates Us.... We Don't Care""" we are far more like an old NSL club... we take a family photo after every match in a corner of the field often 3K people turn up all the players and officials and more recently the new owner... the sauce bottles the cannon etc... most don't know this but the "Master Food" Factory is roughly 4 Kl from the stadium and thee biggest employer on the Coast... we are a true family club.... small but in there fighting... SM always been my second fav NSL team... Blacktown Demons now City is my fav especially as I lived in Blacktown for many years... As I said good luck for the season...
