It is so difficult to give these Scotts the benefit of the doubt. It is alright for Liverpool (twice), Man U, Inter Milan, Juventus and others to visit but certain Celtic ultras are above it all ofcourse. Furthermore, the thought that by play their coveted derby with Rangers would cheapen the contest if it were played out here in Sydney, is absolutely ludicrous.
If the Scotts do not cultivate their blue chip brand, this derby will  taint in the future. They MUST take advantage of the generous opportunity, offered by the two billionaires (owners of Sydney fc and Wanderers). For one, Rangers would not be prudent to not come out here and get involved.
The ultras of Celtic that put up banners and voice their issues on this, are cocooned in their homeland and have an insular type mentality. They don't want to embrace change. Where is VAR (even though it is often ambiguous)? SPFL have the worst referees in Europe, old philosophies of allowing thuggery as an acceptable norm. For the time being, managers and their clients (players) should be giving that competition a wide birth really.

Seen plenty of change in my life to know change is over-rated.

Things become "tradition" precisely because they have stood the test of time.

Playing in this Super Cup will enhance the spirit of this derby, on the international stage outside of Scotland, not inhibit it in any way. Liverpool seem to be ok, as are Man City for playing Yokahama Lex Marinos in Japan as well for that matter. Fear because of a lack of knowledge is a sad road to trek on for some of these guys. As this derby has stood the test of time, put the showpiece event on the line then, let it prove to all, which it will, that it will not be anything but a rousing success outside it's usual environments. The Football World will be watching.

This "Super Cup" means nothing.  Its a cash grab.

You seem know a lot about Celtic and Rangers fans  so I can't comment.  Sometimes people know what it brings and don't fear.  They just don't like it.

The people that don't like this kind of change is like, a new kid goes to a new school, hates that fact that he/she is new. Afew months later, the kid has new friends, loves the new environment given the new opportunities and would not ever go back. Btw, that kid was me. This is why I probably see it this way. Rangers would give their right arm to get the revenue on offer. Super Cup is mot an historical institution but the spoils on offer makes it a good opportunity for the teams at hand. Overseas teams must Embrace their overseas appeal, Marketing is Exactly what it is all about. There are not 3 points on offer in the SPFL, that's for when they play back at home.
The NRL State of Origin (NSW vs QLD) was played in Longbeach California, Melbourne, I think Perth and it is still a raging success. That is the answer to any doubt really.

The filth i believe will still be coming or both sides will just play the two Sydney teams.

You can always jump on a plane Mono, plenty of empty seats at Parkhead.

Would rather take the stadium tour at Paradise than fly to Sydney to watch Celtic play against a franchise... and one of them owned by a Russian at that :(

There is no issue with the teams going aboard to participate in 'Friendly Tournaments' or the like during preseason etc (Celtic has done so previously). The issue arises when there is talk/the possibility of the two teams playing a 'Friendly' against one another.  That's the issue.

I understand why Celtic and Rangers fans aren't happy. Celtic should have come to the AFC to play clubs like South Melbourne, Yokohama F Marinos and maybe even Brisbane Roar/Melbourne Victory. Use the Ange connection. They don't need to play Rangers to attract a crowd in Australia and Japan.

+ 2 and the other point he made.......
"It is alright for Liverpool (twice), Man U, Inter Milan, Juventus and others"

None of the above played these PR games vsing their traditional close rival foes.
The last ManU Leeds tour on our shores you could say there's close links (for they are/were bitter rivals back in the days) but Leeds hadn't been in the top flight for 16odd yrs.

(#1) Playing in this Super Cup will enhance the spirit of this derby, on the international stage outside of Scotland, not inhibit it in any way.

(#2) Liverpool seem to be ok, as are Man City for playing Yokahama Lex Marinos in Japan as well for that matter. Fear because of a lack of knowledge is a sad road to trek on for some of these guys. As this derby has stood the test of time, put the showpiece event on the line then, let it prove to all, which it will, that it will not be anything but a rousing success outside it's usual environments.

(#3) The Football World will be watching.

RE #1: I'm going to take it that you are taking the pish with that comment. The Glasgow Derby doesn't need to play a friendly against one another to "enhance the spirit of the Derby at an International stage".

RE #2: As stated a few times already, both teams in the past (including recent history) have partaken in similar tournaments/Friendly Cups and the like (almost every year or two). The issue is that the two teams should NOT play each other EVER in a friendly match/tournament.

If the so called "Super Cup" goes ahead as scheduled, with the teams mentioned then it should be set-up/run like that when both Celtic and Rangers partook in a Mini-Tournament set-up by Lyon a year or two back. The four teams taking part were Lyon, Nice, Celtic and Rangers, with the stipulation that teams from the same country could not/do not play each other.

If the so call "Super Cup" has a similar set-up/rules whereas the two Glasgow sides don't play each other than you will find there won't be as near as much backlash/protest with regards to the two teams taking part. Some fans might/will even see this Friendly Cup/tour in a positive light and could/would be well in favour of the tournament.

RE #3: The football world watches regardless.

Does anyone else listen to the Clyde 1 Superscoreboard talkback radio podcast?
Itโ€™s great, I listen to it when walking my dog or driving. Itโ€™s on six nights a week in Scotland and comes through about 8:30 each morning in Aus. Goes for over an hour. Hosted by a declared Motherwell supporter, Gordon Duncan, and with pundits from all sides of the Glasgow divide including Hugh Keevins and Gordon Dalziel. They get recently retired players on too. And plenty of Celtic and Rangers fans call in with all sorts of biased and ridiculous comments and the panel give them a hearing and also call them to account and inject reason and logic. Great show. Also plenty of pre and post match analysis. I recommend it.

Anyone think Ange will face a similar footballing story at Celtic as Bielsa at Leeds?

Being a Leeds fan not only do I see similarities in the football the two teams play, however the idea of only having a Plan A and getting better by doing Plan A better. I get that principle and admire the honour in it, however at some point teams begin to work your Plan A out. Ange arguably experienced this with Australia and Yokohama.

I hope this doesn't eventuate and Ange continues to go on to bigger and better things, however both he and Bielsa have that similar idea about how football should be played, how to execute it and to be relentless on implementing.

Food for thought at least.

Fwiw, Australia should be on the phone to Bielsa right now and getting him on board asap. Whether that it is now or after the WC.

The quality of opponent Bielsa faced in the epl is on another planet compared to Ange, most coaches dont have have a plan B, those that have the talent execute plan A more often then not take all the success.

Ange's style is good enough to dominate Scottish football. Ange may suffer the same fate as Bielsa if he moves to a more competitive league. The biggest threat Ange's system has now is breaking down the spl parked busses and avoiding 0-0 games.

Well, seeing you have an idea, and you see Celtic or Rangers live in person, at Parkhead and Ibrox, not as a tv fan, how is playing one game going to destroy the derby in Sydney you halfwit? Rangers person stated the offer was too good to refuse, its what they make in a year! Understand this, its NOT going to Change, get over the Fact that its going to be played..Celtic vs Rangers playing two Sydney A League teams, BE There!

You seriously think Rangers only make ยฃ3million per year ?

Donโ€™t put your unemployment cheque on it definitely going ahead.
