PSV fans I talk to rate Behich and Sainsbury as two of the worst players that they've had in recent years [1 fan went as far to say that Behich is the worst player he's ever seen play for PSV], whilst I don't think that Good's body could handle the type of schedule that Celtic has without the constant breakdowns he had during his time at Newcastle. On the other players mentioned, I think Atkinson needs another year or two of regular football at Melb. City before he's ready to make the jump imo, while I also don't really rate Grant that highly. Admittedly, I don't see as much of him as some of the forum regulars, so maybe I'm missing something. I think he's got a big engine and a good work rate, but I don't think he has the technical skills required to have a successful European career. Smith's in a good spot at Seattle, so it'd be foolish for him to consider leaving, and Luongo has only played 43 games from a possible 103 games since signing for Sheffield Wednesday, which suggests he's either injury prone or out of favour: not good enough to earn a move again.

Again, the players i mention are better than the current incumbents. Not saying any of those transfers will ever happen but just saying those players are better than the incumbents. Nothing in above you said disproved that
None of the players you mentioned IMHO are anywhere near good enough to be playing for Celtic, and would also have a challenge displacing those already there and ahead of them.
If when the board finally pulls their finger out of their arses hopefully we will see strength added were needed - ie wing-backs (both sides), an extra CD (we just signed Starfelt, and need probably one more), and a new keeper (fingers crossed I'm hoping for Forster return).

I do have a personal question for you. There is no real wrong answer (depends on who you ask 😉).... What comes first for you, Celtic or Australian players?? The reason I ask is, you seem fine settling/suggesting players (Australians) which to be blunt (IMO) are not Celtic calibre players.

It's not Ange's job to take Australian players to any of his clubs abroad, and by doing so, he'd bring even more pressure onto himself in the process. A player like Mooy would be accepted, as he is a proven performer in the EPL, and a good player to boot. But Rhyan Grant: no chance. Remember when Matt McKay went from the Roar to Rangers... and stunk the joint up whilst there? The AL is the ceiling for a lad like Grant, and there's nothing wrong with that at all.
Whilst I do hope that we see more Australian players abroad in the future, there's a serious mentality issue with a lot of them, which more often than not sees them back in the AL within a season of heading overseas. To have a career abroad [in any profession] takes a lot of guts and sacrifices, and a lot of the Australian players seem happy enough to chill in the AL playing 30 or so games [tops] a year on a comfortable enough wage.
1. He played 1 season, left after the first couple of matches in the 2nd. So lets not misconstrue the facts to support your argument.
2. 10 matches in a season for a club the standing of PSV is a huge achievement for an Australian footballer, few of which have reached the same level in the last yrs. We all speak about Kruse at leverkusen in 2013 but he only played about the same number of games albeit admittedly leverkusen at that time is slight stepup from PSV of 2018/19 but only slight. PSV is a level or 2 above celtic so on that evidence we can conclude that the backup center back for PSV (he was one of the 2 backups for the CB's) would get plenty of games for the current cletic team. Indeed comparing him to the current squad (oh thats right you don't have a fucking clue who plays in the celtic squad and just pulled that flippant judgment call out of your arse), i think only Starfelt would start ahead of him but He'd be ahead of Murray Welsh and Bitton particularly in the ange ball system (im not counting Jullien as he is on long term injury list).
3. Mooy would be MORE than just accepted at celtic, he'd be considered a major signing and one of the 2-3 stars of the side. You only need to look at the Postecoglue thread in the celtic chat site - the fans were generally hopeful that theyd buy mooy and ryan after the ange announcement.
4. You all seem to be shitting on Rhyan Grant saying he wouldn't be up to standard without actually comparing him to the current Celtic team - he'd start every match over Ralston who is our current starter, and suits ange ball (Fullbacks with huge engine to overlap wingers). Grant is now a 4 time A league TOTS player and won 3 championships. Ralston would be an average Rb in the A league. Admittedly its doubtful Celtic would sign Grant due to age however, but ability wise to say he's not good enough is rubbish.
5. Mckay had a clause in his contract with rangers that said if he played something like 10 or so games the price would jump up substantially, and this came in the season that their financial issues came to light and ultimately collapsed. Mckay has said in an interview that =this is the reason he wasn't played and was told so by Mccoist. In the 3 friendly matches McKay played for them (inc against liverpool) he was MOM in 2 of them, so don't give me this BS that he 'stunk the place up'.

He has done similar things in the past, whether this rumour this time around turns out to be true is yet to be seen. But I for one hope it's true.

Did anyone actually watch the game this morning? Celtic played some great football at a good pace. There are a few things to work on but we've seen the growth of Ange's teams before. - Rest defence - making sure they don't get caught on the break. I felt they did this pretty well apart from when they conceded the first goal which unfortunately made the game a lot more difficult.
- Give the ball away during the build up - there were a few occasions, more often in the first half, where they gave the ball away despite no pressure when building up. Because they were playing quickly with a lot of one touch football, they missed a few passes which allowed Hearts to hit them on the counter. Just need to balance the speed out with 1 touch and 2 touches.
- Final third - I think this will be the hardest part to fix. Trying to break down a whole team takes skill and going down 1-nil early on doesn't help. The final delivery into the box was poor for most of the game. That comes down to individual quality but it doesn't mean players won't improve over the course of the season.
- Set pieces - Obviously can't leave people unmarked in these as seen in the second goal they conceded.
I was super impressed with what Ange has done so far in regards to the style of football. However, at the end of the day football is about results and I hope for Australia's sake, he gets them because this would open the door for a lot of Australian coaches who want to coach in Europe.

It looked like Hearts were up for it, but clearly the style Ange is implementing at Celtic needs a few pieces in.
They need another CB and probably another winger as well from what ive seen.
Hearts did their homework on Celtic though so credit to them but now Ange needs to get this team back on track because a few more results like this and he won't last that long.
He also needs to fix the flaws on the system quickly, agree on the lack of rest defence but Ange teams have never been known for this but at times they made some nice moves in the final third especially the last one when the keeper made a fantastic save so they need to build on this fast.

PSV is a level or 2 above celtic so on that evidence we can conclude that the backup center back for PSV (he was one of the 2 backups for the CB's) would get plenty of games for the current cletic team. First time in 24 years we've been beaten on the open day of the season, I think what's even more concerning is the players we've signed under him didn't look comfortable out there, Starfelt was 3-4m and looked like Shane Duffy, Abada can't cross a ball yet and I kept hearing on here about how the J-League is so much better technically yet Kyogo struggled to control the ball at times when he came on.

It's a results driven business, doesn't matter how good we passed the ball sideways when we couldn't beat a side that couldn't deal with 36 year old Aiden McGeady 2 weeks prior. You must be new to watching Celtic because apart from rangers games and European Cup games we dominate the ball and the spfl sides sit in and let us play and they play on the counter- Even when tactical dinosaur Lennon was here he went to Tynecastle and his side dominated, Hearts were always going to give us some opportunites, is this what we're meant to be getting exicted about? A 30m pound side creating some opportunities against a team of free agents, brilliant stuff. 0 wins in 3 competetive games against mediocre sides. I was super impressed with what Ange has done so far in regards to the style of football. However, at the end of the day football is about results and I hope for Australia's sake, he gets them because this would open the door for a lot of Australian coaches who want to coach in Europe. Not sure what's impressive about getting beat by a side made up of free transfers, we had a bench worth over 10m sitting there and over 20m in the starting xi. I can accept he needs better quality players in, especially for European competetion but the side he currently has should be beating Hearts 9 times out of 10. Waited 79 minutes to make a sub and his persistence to keep picking Bitton cost us. In saying that the score should've been 2-2 but with huns as officials it was always on the cards. First time in 24 years we've been beaten on the open day of the season, I think what's even more concerning is the players we've signed under him didn't look comfortable out there, Starfelt was 3-4m and looked like Shane Duffy, Abada can't cross a ball yet and I kept hearing on here about how the J-League is so much better technically yet Kyogo struggled to control the ball at times when he came on. Funny how during your 8.75 in a row the officials were never mentioned. The ref for the 1st game of rangers season was John Beaton, says it all- we got Bobby Madden another rangers supporter.    1st week back and already cheating

+xIt looked like Hearts were up for it, but clearly the style Ange is implementing at Celtic needs a few pieces in. They need another CB and probably another winger as well from what ive seen. Hearts did their homework on Celtic though so credit to them but now Ange needs to get this team back on track because a few more results like this and he won't last that long. He also needs to fix the flaws on the system quickly, agree on the lack of rest defence but Ange teams have never been known for this but at times they made some nice moves in the final third especially the last one when the keeper made a fantastic save so they need to build on this fast. Imo we need 2 right backs, another CB (left footed one), a left back, a goalkeeper and a DM.

+x+xDid anyone actually watch the game this morning? - Rest defence - making sure they don't get caught on the break. I felt they did this pretty well apart from when they conceded the first goal which unfortunately made the game a lot more difficult.
- Give the ball away during the build up - there were a few occasions, more often in the first half, where they gave the ball away despite no pressure when building up. Because they were playing quickly with a lot of one touch football, they missed a few passes which allowed Hearts to hit them on the counter. Just need to balance the speed out with 1 touch and 2 touches.
- Final third - I think this will be the hardest part to fix. Trying to break down a whole team takes skill and going down 1-nil early on doesn't help. The final delivery into the box was poor for most of the game. That comes down to individual quality but it doesn't mean players won't improve over the course of the season.
- Set pieces - Obviously can't leave people unmarked in these as seen in the second goal they conceded.

Agree re Starfelt doesn't look that great on the ball at all - slightly bigger better version of baily Wright. Kept having to pass it across to bitton to help us play out. He's right footed but they were playing him LCB which isn't ideal either. Can see there is a footballer in Kyogo just prob nerves and trying to do too much in the small time he had on. Ange left his subs way too late
