Expect a few red cards in this one mate...... few loose units over there in Jack Edwards brothel. Hope it goes to extra time though so Port can shit all over them on Saturday.

+xCan't see Oakleigh pulling an upset, their form into end of NPL was a bit crappy and have to negotiate both NPL finals and this game on Wednesday, interesting to see how they manage the squad for a busy few weeks after a looooong season for them..... No-one tell him...

Great to see - far out getting Italiano on a plane today I thought wtf but if paid off needing a keeper with experience. Great 1st half. What a dig in by them the last 15. Shame McBreen pulled them out against SU but gaurantees 1 NPL side in the finale so come on SUnited !!! These are the success stories of the Cup period, part timers doing ok.

Especially as SU58 didn't finish top or even played in the finals for Football NSW NPL1. SU58 are playing Western Sydney Wanderers in a friendly at Wanderers Football Park this weekend. For both Oakleigh Cannons and SU58 there are multiple players who have played in the A-League, so both should be competitive. Both are possible cupsets. I give SU58 an even money chance of beating Brisbane Roar, especially if it played on the synthetic pitch at Edensor Park. Not sure what to make of Macarthur Bullsh1tters. The Nix looked second to ball for 80% of the game so could have made look better than they really are. Kearyn Baccus should have got a red card last night

+xSo can a npl host a grand final? Interesting question. Financially you would think not a chance in hell with 'anticipated' revenue suggesting a larger venue in Melbourne or Sydney. But the story of the cup this year has been involvement and success by lower tiered clubs and the 'advantage' of playing away from the bigger aleagues support bases in front of home crowds. Clubs and supporters of both Oakleigh and SU58 would no doubt be pissed off if they had to travel any significant distance. I think if either Oakleigh or SU58 make the final, the 'host' will be expected to play in at least a 10-15k stadium. Not likely to be significant casual interest in the match, but could there be significant 'international' interest in any red and white checked team, and would any of the possible NPL matchups fill a 10-15k stadium? Oakleigh v Brisbane not likely in Victoria. SU58 v Macarthur might with both teams located close enough for their friends and families to travel ;). Hmmm - seems I have talked myself in a fine circle and with a relatively low expected attendance would there be any point to hosting it away from the main support base?
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

If SU58 beat Brisbane Roar and play Macarthur Bullsh1tters, the likely stadium would be CommBank depending on availability due to NRL finals SU58 support would outnumber the Campbelltown scum support by at least 3:1

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH --- But we cant have a second division because semi pro players arent good enough to compete eh? KAMAN CROATZIA!!!!!!!!!!!

The NPL part timers done good and makes it exciting for all....... Mentioning form its ironic both NPL Clubs still in had shocking seasons, FYI SU finished 12 off the pace. RIMB has his theories about playing at neutral grounds but all any team can do is get on whats in front of them same for the franchise's. Franchise home grounds are not that packed in any case barring the exceptions, BR's isn't any bigger than the Cove from observations, doubt would worry any visiting side. Being pro wouldn't matter where they play, be it offseason or not they are still fitter faster/quicker technique its all about pressing and having a go no matter the time of the season. If chances don't go in your in trouble - no matter who you are. The SU BR game will be good no matter where. SU play like they did against WU whilst missing some players that would be ready to return BR should have a Avondale reoccurance me think and some sore legs, bodies from good hits...... Win lose draw pens great for the game. Bulls vs Oakleigh I don't have as much confidence but Cannons showed they have some handy players around the park and kudos knocking off the fancied SFC. Bulls have a squad and new gaffa who wants to impress and have gone through more convincing of all the APL's I think.

Jack Edwards Reserve is pretty basic, be interesting to see if it is an acceptable venue. Then there is the financial side of things. The AFC provide a US$60k travel subsidy which obviously helps, but there are plenty of other expenses just to compete. I vaguely remember CCM saying that if you crash out of the group stage, it's a pretty much a guaranteed financial loss for the club, and that's from a club which notoriously runs lean. Then the question could be raised, what if a club like Oakleigh doesn't meet the AFC requirements or cannot secure the funds required to compete. Can the spot be given to the next in line? Runner up? Or do they need to forfeit which would further destroy Australia's rating in the AFC.

I'd hate to think the AFC would be party-poopers enough to force Oakleigh or Syd Utd to forfeit continental participation should they win the Cup; logic dictates that they merely play their home fixtures at the nearest venue that does meet the minimum requirements - after all, that's what UEFA does.

Could be a real Eastern European atmosphere.
