Honestly I'm not a fan of old soccer, but this is a beat up. It didnt sound like booing at all. sounded like a dull Roar. To add, do they expect active support to remain quiet during a welcome to country? Was the crowd asked for silence? I'm sorry but this just seems like absolute crap a pure beat up.

Can't have enough cops at matches, its proven once again hey.. Cannot take a family to that. There is a non existent argument against this, which shoots itself in the foot everytime, ho hum. This generation doesn't need to be educated in Facism like the bad ol'days of the NSL, narratives that hold NO INTEREST over here whatsoever. No entry to the NSD for such a troubled club. Its definitely generational.

I'm glad I missed the pricks singing during the anthem, booing the Welcome to Country and the nazi bullshit. Would have spoiled the atmosphere completely for me. As I mentioned in the Socceroos v NZ thread, the Welcome to Country at Suncorp was devoid of political and pc crap and a genuine, reasonable welcome from someone whose family has real history with the area, cared about moving on together, and the positives for sport and life in doing that. Simple message, honestly delivered; relevant! The disrespect will always be around by wankers who think they are making a statement about their relevance and importance. We saw it at Suncorp too with one or two weak dickheads who needed to whistle during the silence for the Queen. Attention seeking turds who need to be simply turfed out without ceremony and ignored by everyone except the police where necessary. I could not make out many of the chanted words over the TV - once I did pick out "Sydney Croatia" - so for me the chants were just noise and atmosphere and added to the spectacle. For those thinking that Macarthur should have scored a lot more goals, and that SU might have been a bit lucky I would say that football is always going to be one side more skilful than the other. The way SU defended and held on, then took their own opportunities to advance with the ball was quite incredible to watch. The fast and accurate interplay was never lessened or negated by their 'higher level' opponents and on any other day some of those raids would have ended up in the net too. A real contest with a genuine and deserving winner, and no shame for the loser on the pitch.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

I am not in a position to argue one way or another but the footage I just watched did seem like a supporters hum rather than actual booing. If they were responding to their images on the big screen then they knew the Welcome was happening - because that was on the big screen too. Got to love "Father to Son" sign coming up on screen during the lack of respect for someone talking about their ancestry. Bit of an easy shot - but "Father to Son - but only if it is MY father and HIS son" would have been more honest in those circumstances. The lack of courteous silence was disrespectful regardless of intent.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

+x+x+x+xCrowd is fantastic there is 'real' atmosphere something the A L lacks even the Socceroos there is 'real passion credit to SU58 fans and the Croatian/Australian community - wish the FA would actually do something to try capture that passion at the top levels of football in Australia Verati Is booing the Welcome to Country part of the "atmosphere". Pathetic. Im glad they booed it. Not sure why sporting bodies feel the need to bust out the welcome to country at every opportunity, this fixture had absolutely no relevance to it. This was about migrant communities, a chapter of Australian football history colliding with new football, the welcome to country just felt out of place and awkward. Booing of the anthem? Any opinion on that? Booing the anthem of the colonisers is pretty bad

Beat up? The lady reading out the welcome was clearly rattled by the noise. Was clearly disrespectful by the Croat mob. I don't understand why. I think it's overdone too but I'd never boo it and chant over the top of it. Like they just said on Outsiders. Last night was the best and worst Australian football could be. Do the Croatian morons think they've done themselves proud? Do they think a NSD is closer today then it was yesterday?

it is sad because 16k people came to watch SU58 not Bulls but because of a small group of idiots football will continue to die. it is clear the AL structure of the AL is 'not working' - you are talking a cup final and bulls has maybe 300-400 supporters there.... but you cant allow Nazi salutes and clear 'anti-social' behavior in the game i actually think 'football' is doomed in Australia unless we come up with a solution

Like how do you stop a thousand fans chanting Ustase chants? Individuals making nazi salutes are easy to ban once identified but the crowd en masse? Closed door fixtures? What's the answer. I want an NSD to happen and the sooner the better but I can't see how this carry on helped at all last night. Just imagine if the crowd were respectful of the anthem the welcome to country, didn't chant far right slogans what we'd be talking about today. How fantastic the game was, the occasion, the club, the atmosphere, the passion etc etc. Nope. Instead all the same shit that led to the A League all over again. In B4 mono calls the MSM racist.

This is the most frustrating thing.
Also, our mix of cultures and history involved is what makes it such an awesome sport. Instead these fools have ripped that unique feature away from us and used it to hang the code instead.

The concern isn’t the few fans that chanted fascist slogans, Nazi salutes etc it’s the reticence of Sydney United club and fans to take ownership and do anything about it. These sorts of scenes aren’t uncommon at Sydney United, there seems to be an overly right wing pro Nazi element within the active supporters, and yet the club doesn’t appear to have taken any action to identify, expose and ban such individuals. Instead it’s the same rhetoric about the MSM being racist, etc. Really nothing has changed since NSL days. Nothing. It will never be compatible with a professional sporting environment.
While the fans were a great spectacle , the reality is last night was more about chest beating nationalists showing off their Croatian pride and lowering their voices a few octaves to sound more warrior like than supporting Sydney United. If they were admitted to the A league, once the novelty of being a chest beating nationalist warrior wears off, they will struggle to pull 2000 to their games. They will show up for the finals and games when they have prime time slot on TV. More eyes means more incentive to show off their warrior pride.

I don’t know why we’re talking like they are the only ultras in the world to do this. I love football but this a world wide issue within football

Is that really what you want to compare us to?
Imagine fans booting the Hakka and throwing nazi salutes at a rugby game while waving neo nazi and fascist flags

Sydney United played terribly. Macarthur pressed in two & threes for the entire game & despite their poor finishing were the far better team from start to finish.
Those penalties that Sydney United gave away were completely unnecessary & also very poor. For both they bring the player down in the box with another defender right in front of him. Shocking.
Dwight Yorke has Macarthur playing better than I've seen them playing for a long time, work on their finishing & they'll do quite well this season. Congratulations to them.

The game is struggling for air and any nazi symbolism will be absolute fodder for the MSM and total fucking kryptonite for sponsors, advertisers, investors etc.

Not sure why people are surprised. The SUS group have shown themselves to be clearly pro-nazi in the past. The club and wider Croatian community clearly seem to tolerate it too which is the most concerning aspect.

That fat bastard that is in that photo doing the salute, with his unattractive squeeze should be identified and arrested. It must be illegal to burn a nation's flag and/ or racist salutes. Will James Johnson work with the cops to ensure these types are identified and banned for life? He put out a pissi statement, that's it.

Jesus I disappear studying for a few days an guess what?
Sydney Croatia supporters are the same fascist idiots they have always been.
Did anyone not see this coming? They had cameras on them for the first time in 20 years of course they were going to take their chance.
Honestly I would LOVE to see them banned from any NSD until they can prove they want to do something about it. Guess what? they don't want to do anything about it because the higher ups all feel the same way.
I would LOVE to read one idiot defend this here. Saying it's just a few bad eggs is meaningless if you are not going to do something about those eggs.
Frankly I'd ban you from playing in the NPL as well

That support ensured a tremendous atmosphere inside the stadium, in stark contrast to the meagre number of supporters at the other end of the ground supporting the three-year-old Macarthur side. It was not all good though. The fiercely passionate support boiled over into scenes that could, at best, be described as restlessness, during the Welcome to Country and national anthem
This was the ABC description. SBS probably waiting for the dust to settle before touching it.

Foz condemns behavior of some of his former club’s fans.
My 2 cents: anybody that performs a nazi salute in 2022 has absolute Shit For Brains and should be criminally charged and banned for life from attending football games. Also any Syd United fans that don’t respect Aboriginal heritage should just get the Fuck Out of Australia

Agree With regards to welcome to country. Fine but make it quick and get off. I've heard it explained many times to me it's just like when you greet someone at your door. You say welcome and come on in. What you don't do is lecture them and make a political statement before you let them through the door. Which is sometimes what we're subjected to.
