Adelaide United's youth team have made the grand final for the first time ever! They are playing Modbury who are a newly promoted club in their own right.
Don't think anyone saw this coming at the start of the season.

+x+xThe boy reported they done the double won GF yesterday. Sadly away missed play offs. Onwards forwards Champions of Champions. FORZA...... Oh and BTW congrats to APIA .... Grazie ! on both counts mate...... I really liked a snippet from the FNSW site report re the APIA win : APIA Leichhardt were crowned 2023 Premiers of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition with a 2-1 win over St George City in front of a healthy crowd at their spiritual home, Lambert Park on Sunday. It was actually APIA Leichhardt back in 1987, under the guidance of the legendary Rale Rasic, that were crowned Premiers in the old National Soccer League’s only ever first-past-the-post title. Thirty-six years later, the modern APIA Leichhardt, under the guidance of rookie coach Franco Parisi, have equalled the feat of the legendary 1987 team and it occurred too at the same venue – Lambert Park in Leichhardt where the sign still proudly reads The Home of Football in Australia and in front of a bumper crowd for the occasion.
So Rale for one going way back to those heydays and I love ol stalwart Franco Parisi, a 20yr APIA player recently retired with D'Apuzzo 1st tenure as Coachs pulling off the Prem. Kudos FORZA.
Gonna mention also kudos to the newly formed (2015) St George City FA and Spirits 1st season in the top flight, St G a very credible P5 and Spirit 11th isn't anything to be sneezed at.

+x+xWhat drama In NSW NPL 2 last night. St George Saints (old Budapest) go through on goal difference to take on Mt Druitt in the Play-off promotion St George Needed a win, and to hope Bonnyrigg White Eagles lose. Bwe was down 5-1 in the 70th min, & St George was down 2-0 in 88th min. as it stood BWE was going through. St George managed to score 89th min and 92nd min. too draw 2-2. While BWE managed to get the game back to 5-4 but it wasnt enough St George capture 2nd position and playoff promotion spot. nuts...... amazing what can play out when promotion is on the line eh? A lot better. Football in this country really needs it at all levels.

A referee’s heroic act rescued Nestory Irankunda from a potentially life-threatening incident in the South Australian NPL last night.
After a heavy in-game fall from a tackle left the 17-year-old unable to breathe, referee Christian Verdicchio – who is a doctor - swiftly administered aid and cleared his airways.
The Adelaide United youngster was eventually able to walk off the field and reported into training this morning.

Davstar won't like it hehe but there was also alot of chanting cro atia cro atia at FT hahaha - yep this is football here for we're all a mixer aussie breed (well a % of us) and I fuckin luv it ! I see alot of us are daddy's and you guys around the grounds, I'm a wee older than many here but whatever I'm still a kid at heart haha, you hope your kids get into one or 2 things (if not no big deal how it goes) you've influenced since they were born (mine being on the sideline in prams onwards) so I have 2 out of 3 grown up and still playing and pretty handy players. For a while all 3 incl me playing, busy busy weekends and as a fam it has you together alot and its a hoot, I'm close with alot of my boys team mates who come over alot after night outs to watch EPL or other games through the wee hours of Sunday morn...... Great outlet and togetherness thanks to football passion I'm a lucky Dad.....

+xwell not NPL but I'm chuffed, PL1 pre Matildas game serve up for me I was at my sons last game of the season must win for the Prem and that they did. Bit of background, my son and 2 other players plus the coach were with the opposing Club previously hahaha so alot to play for both sides. You can imagine the tackles and tension plus our boys were 0-2 down at HT ! they were no where the 1st half totally outplayed. Came out for the 2nd and was still not much better the next 10 or so but you know, you get 1goal back and it lifts the hopes and desires and run against play its 1-2. Next phase of play we get a free just out of the box off centre, bang, into the onion netting 2-2 and the tensions and hope on the sideline went into raptures and the support went louder and louder. The boys went into overdrive and no3 goes in from great build up play dodging swinging tackles a cross into the mixer and flick header its 3-2 with 6mins to go. I felt no different watching the Matildas pens, we were stressing for the ref to whistle FT but we knew there was at least 4mins ET. They pressed hard and got 2/3 corners during ET and 2 close calls our keeper saved the day god bless him. What a comeback. CHAMPIONS I couldn't leave had to stay for the trophy presentation and saver the moment all in the midst that the Matildas had koff'd. What a arvo of football and evening, not often you get a WIN WIN and a WC one at that. I'll never forget the day I guess once I get to the nursing home - and say you know that WWC day we knocked off the Frogs, my son won their league title before that game haha Love Football ! Much love from me big fella.. Give your young bloke a smack and a huge "bravo" from your paisan down here in Melbourne... THIS IS FOOTBALL.

+x+x+x+x+x+xHaving been away for a while good to see APIA still kicking butt and a 7point break from 2nd. Impressed to see ol NPL2 St George in P5 first season back in the top flight. Stallions hanging in P3. BC really stringing some wins together in P4. WTF the wheels have fallen off SO in P12 not that SU are doing much better. relegation battle is heating up between WSW and Mt Druitt. i'd personally would like to see all the academy sides relegated. Why? NPL should be for NPL clubs. I disagree mate... NPL, now that it is linked with State leagues below it should be for ALL clubs in Australia... Let the "Academies pty ltd" stay where they are, one day soon they can act as the placeholders for the franchises when they decide to join the rest of the pyramid.... That day is not far away but who pays back the money invested by Silverlake or does ‘ A League Pty. Ltd ‘ just go bankrupt. Not for me, or any of us to worry about really mate.... Venture capitalists are gonna do venture capital things :) These franchises have had 18 years to establish a fanbase and a club structure, time to pull back the curtain and let them compete with the real clubs on an open playing field....

Start from the bottom of the pyramid then. Sydney FC NPL - Directly into NPL1 CCM & WSW - Directly into NPL2 Macarthur Bulls - NPL1 (Northbridge sold their souls) Only Newcastle Jets started from NPL3 Oh I dont disagree man, they should have started in the state leagues..... 100% Letting them stay where they are though is the only way we can integrate the old and the new in one competition.... It wont be long before they start taking their NPL clubs seriously if there is pro/rel to an NST on the line... Its the best case scenario for owner less entities like Perth and Newcastle.
