+xWaiting for the shortlist is like waiting for the next harry kewell hurry up already Its always darkest before the dawn bud :) ... April isnt that far away for shortlisted EOIs and then June, with final selections 3 months and we will know.... Also the same time as APL will reveal the successful Auckland and Canberra investors coincidentally.. Any word on who they are yet?

+xso weird people going to the trouble changing their user names like Joe above but was PSC before....... Other than that yes agreed as I mentioned earlier - fish where the real fish are, NST to grass roots. He may have lost his IP and couldn't use the same user name?

+x+x+x+x+xI think both had valid comments and points - lets look at it positively, put it this way all for the better below the APL having NST going ahead and in the future better for the teirs below in time and the game as a whole..... Grass roots to NST is the biggest fish where the fish are. Top line mate, agreed. I've always felt thats where its at....not the fair weathered only going to derby type of goer, not that thats wrong but you know what I mean. Yeah I get you... The rusted ons like us but Ive got no issues with fair weather fans or theatre goers..... There aplenty of those in football, just cant understand why the APL and FFA before them would target AFL/NRL fans and not people already in love with the sport of football to begin with? 100% agree. The FFA and the APL and all the state federations should be focusing on the converted and not the AFL/NRL crowd. By having the A-League in summer is like saying our football can't compete with them. By why are we supposed to be competing with them? Our game is a winter sport, and should be played in winter. We can have a longer season than them. We may be flooding the "market" amongst our fan base, but as sure as hell, everyone involved with the code will have a choice. And that is exactly what happens everywhere else in the world - at every level of the game. No doubt that a "winter" season, or one aligned with the calendar year, could effectively takes us from February to November, for a 9 month season, with at 2 or 3 months sitting outside of the NRL/AFL seasons. We would also align with much of Asia, which is our confederation, last time I looked.

The ACL is moving to an August-May calendar to align with Europe and the Middle Eastern leagues, but that shouldn't stop us going to winter. It would still line up with China, Japan and Korea, and be the seasonal equivalent of the European calendar (inverted for the southern hemisphere). It would also help in shifting to a 9-10 month season rather than the 7 month season we have now. Stadium availability is not an issue, especially with advances in pitch maintenance. The Socceroos-Ecuador match at Commbank was 24 hours after an NRL game in the same ground, and the pitch looked fine (there wasn't even much trace of rugby league field markings).

Apparently a winter season means the passes per game is 10% more
Most importantly, I think it makes the transition to europe much easier. When you play in completely foreign conditions it is tough, you see that when our euroroos play a qualifier in the middle east and look clumsy
Nothing could help our players step up in europe more than moving to winter imo
Having said that is makes sense commercially to be in summer

Also, if you plan it well, the A-League could have a 2 week break mid July and play European clubs as they prepare for their forthcoming season. 2 games per week in each major city managed by the APL, and some games at other cities. A-League clubs would make massive profits. The gate alone would bring in millions

What happens this process ends up with a champions league style format? Or an expanded NPL Championship tournament??
Are we satisfied?
Would this make JJ the Messiah we all believe he will be for the sport?
So exciting. Will be getting the popcorn out mid-year for the big reveal. Gonna be like a Bachelor rose ceremony. 🌹 🌹

Are you for real? It would make practically zero difference. I'd say playing 40-50 games per year would help our players a lot more.

What happens is clubs, fans, players, sponsors, volunteers will become less and less incentivesed to participate and grow... For me this will be a massive FAIL for JJ and the FA. Ill still follow my club around until they eventually fold and die through lack of interest like the super clubs of the other migrant groups (Poles, Ditch, Hungarians etc) in the 40s-50s and then, sit on the coach and only watch overseas leagues and the odd Socceroos game live.

Whats a rose ceremony and talking football got to do with things here ? Talking football/NST a CL format isn't a league comp as you know, don't think supporters will approve that and at the FA's peril but I like numklpkgulftumch post 3068328 makes far more sense towards the cause.

The main purpose of the NST is to provide a standard and environment which is a quality well above the NPL and below the APL.
Professionalism will provide that opportunity and the congregation of the best 2nd tier professional clubs in the country in one league will elevate players, coaches and the clubs / organizations. The indirect outcomes will also pressure the APL to lift its game and overall provide broader opportunities for NT.
I'm going to say this. If we don't get full professionalism or one single league and the FA runs with championship style format, the NST will be a FAILURE.

I’m not particularly tech savvy, so I’m not gonna stuff around trying to work out how to post it here, but Sydney Olympic CEO Lawrie Mckinna was recently on the SEN program “the global game” with Simon hill and Alex brosque discussing the second division. Fairly interesting for those who want to have a listen. Sounds like the clubs themselves still don’t know all that much re the ins and outs, but he was saying they were having a meeting tomorrow (today) with the federation

Angle? 🙄 What the hell does that mean?? Simple question Would we be happy with only a champions league format?? For NST. Different potential formats have been laid on the table. JJ has been receiving praise for being progressive on the NST. Would we still be happy with him if all we ended up with was a champions league format?? Quite simple really. Nothing else to it. No other angles!! 😒😒 NST selection process = Bachelor rose ceremony. Clubs make it to next stage by receiving roses to continue in the show. 🌹🌹🌹 Don't receive a rose, you're out. Pretty straightforward If you've seen the show.

I interpret it to be essentially a knockout comp where the winners of the various NPL's compete for a trophy. If they can't get 10 suitable clubs, then the bids are no longer relevant as they are bidding for a full league not a knockout comp. A CL format is only a small number of games, so clubs wouldn't need to meet any of the requirements that the NST would. It would just be a short comp for the champions. It may not be preferred, but I can't imagine any club declining to compete in a national CL.

Here's what the FA stated, so Yes it would seem like that the kind of competition is envisaged by FA if the League format is a no-go Personally, that's fine and someone will end up with a trophy but it would seem to be fairly pointless and not achieve anything that the NST concept has been pushed for AAFC had the following observations when looking at this option .

Pretty straightforward If you've seen the show. just trying to understand your posts for at times I read like "good luck" this ever occurs and condecending if I can express it this way without coming across rude. paulie thanks for another pic addition, noted :) maybe the oooozo intake hahaSimple question you ask - NO not in favour of a CL format thats a Cup format as you know not a league comp and I hope they have enough Clubs to make it a PROPER comp. Thats at JJ's peril and think this will put the messiah in a catch22 situation, it may suit some supporters as better than nothing I suspect, not sure maybe thaty will apply to some of the Clubs as well we wait and see. Ah the FTA reality phenomenon, yer soz don't watch them. People get given a rose eh, cute. A pleasure, thought you might have needed a hand. 😉
