The world cup will be massive here. Really looking forward to the masses of fans that will be in the country. (The Dutch in particular are great.) Been to 3 men's world cup so why wouldn't I go to the Women's. Oh that's right something about it being slower etc.... I've got 4 match ticket pass to Brisbane. (My son has the 7 match pass in Brisbane which is every match there.) I have 4 tickets to all the Matildas games. (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane.) I have 4 tickets to the R16, 1/4, Semi and Final in Sydney at the Olympic Stadium whatever that's called these days. (Will stay in Sydney for those 10 days.) @TSF. You'll get tickets. There's 2 more sales phases and then there'll be the resale platform and open slather at the end. In Qatar I was getting match tickets on the mornings of some games. (People buy loads and then as it comes closer to the dates they can't go, have too many or they've double up with their mates. You'll get tickets for sure.)

If you have been to a men’s world cup before, you will know there is always a way to get a ticket. Just keep your eye on the ball.

+x+x+x+x+x+xYeah, have to admit I have zero interest. In fact, there's a small part of me that ashamedly wants them to fail miserably because of the annoying people I know who would be like "they won the World Cup - they should be paid more than the men, not less" or "Sam Kerr is greater than any male player we've produced" as if the achievements are somehow comparable. Have to work hard at not letting culture wars cloud my judgement. Yes it is true tho that Sam Kerr is greater than any male football players in history of Australia.... Nah. The standard of the women's game is appalling and therefore you can never compare the ladies to the men. If you made George Blackwood play against u14 GPS sides he would look world class Halaand esque as well. Sam Kerr is a bit like Rhonda Rousey, she looks good because the standard of the competition was so poor. Then overnight the standard improved a little bit and she was found out as a dud. If you had the same participation of women playing football than the men then maybe Kerr wouldn't even be in the Premier League. Or maybe she would. No one really knows. Well You should look down on those Olympics Australian female swimmers also cuz they wouldnt beat a 14 year Old Boy if they completing the same pool. Not just in soccer. Nah. Female swimmers are awesome. Completely different sports. One is raw speed and endurance the other is more skills, tactics based, so very dumb to compare. There's a huge participation of female swimmers globally so you know at the olympics you are seeing the cream of the crop. There's only a few professional women's soccer leagues globally so its pretty easy to rise to the top when you're competing against part timers. There could be 10 major leagues and millions of participants getting paid millions a year and you still wouldn't respect their efforts so don't pretend you would. You'll find a way to hate. Just like you always do. As for swimming being representative of the cream of the crop. Pffft. Half a dozen rich countries take out 90% of the medals. Would be lucky to find a 50m pool in Africa, Asia or South America Just because someone doesn't like something , doesn't mean they hate it. Only about 153 people can be bothered to attend a W league match, does that mean the remaining 25 million who can't be arsed hate it as well? Women's football is piss boring , it is slow, cumbersome and technically shyte. Watching the A league is barely watchable, then you throw in the women, and I guess that's why only 153 can be bothered turning up. The results speak for itself. At least with swimming there's equal participation between men and women. From the naked eye there doesn't appear to be much difference between male and female swimmers, but with football its light years apart. Speaking truth is not hate.

I really don't get the hard to watch comments. It's the same argument to not watch the a-league because Arsenal is better. I believe if you truly love the sport you get enjoyment from watching anything from u/9s Coolamaloolagarry to Real Madrid

No1 catergry gets my 110% attention, next level down gets say 80% attention depending the competition, old skool racing also gets my attention but if destracted no matter, the rest of the supports couldn't give a toss and I love racing - hence hard to watch re most W football. IF my daughter kept playing therefore having vested interest maybe I would have appreciated it more but it is hard. Some wekends the other pitch whilst watching a NPL game has a womens rep league game on, I glance thats about it.

+xI'm trying to get tickets to Matildas in Melbourne it's impossible so I think it will be successful like the 2014 Asian cup Was the 2014 Asian cup successful? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_AFC_Women%27s_Asian_CupOnly averaged 2,662 per game - surely we can do better than that!

The logic is so retarded. 'The under 20's aren't as good as the men's senior side so I can't enjoy it.' WTF? Yelled and screamed at the TV for every match they played in Uzbekistan. I do wonder if they could ever watch any of their 9 and 10 year old kids play football and enjoy it. 'Well Jenny / Timmy scored a nice goal but Mo Salah is waaaay better. Fuck, now there's a bloke that can hit them.' Plus the need to fill space on the interwebs with disparaging remarks EVERY SINGLE TIME makes me question how many of then seem to have the most fragile of glass jaws because they're talking about women's football instead of mens. And again, they're playing a game we love. Training no less, committing as much time and usually, until recently, doing it for next to no money. Anyone that couldn't enjoy the England Germany Euro final last year for the great spectacle it was with 80 or 90 thousand fans in attendance is looking for a reason not to like it.

I don't watch the under 20's normally or the NPL but if there's a big match or a tournament I'll tune in for sure. You don't have to attend any matches to enjoy watching a team in a tournament go around. You think this is some sort of gotcha. 'Just remember Jenny no matter how hard you try and what level you achieve you'll never be as good as a boy'. 'Thanks Dad, you're the best'.

Maybe Coolagaloomaleebra Go Kart level? Yet you still watch it?

+xwe all have our likes and dislikes thats the way the cookie crumbles for all. I'm not telling anyone what they should do or follow, we all have the choice. Of course you do. I couldn't care less what you watch, follow or like. However, if you're going to jump in unprompted then make sure what you're saying follows some logic. - I said I can watch football at all levels and enjoy it. - You jump in and tell me you cant watch car racing below level 2-3 which is analogous to football. - I ask if you watch NPL ie. way below level 2-3 ie. that's my whole point you disagreed with - You say yes. Well that's your point/analogy up in smoke. I didn't jump on here to tell you what to watch or like. You jumped in to tell me my point is wrong and I merely pointed out the argument you made is illogical and frankly hypocritical That's all.

No, but you enjoy it less, just like you enjoy gals football less, because in this over-saturated sporting market most people filter what they watch based on quality, skill, speed, prestige, entertainment, tradition etc. Are you going to watch the Matildas world cup games with the same fervor, tension and excitement as the Socceroos? If you're an honest person you will admit you won't, because a football tournament played by mostly part timers with weak participation globally isn't going to be as interesting, entertaining and challenging as the fellas who basically have to cut each others throats to rise to that level.

What it is about the W league that doesn't tickle your fancy like watching the blokes does? When you can answer that question for yourself, then apply those same answers to the W world cup.

Davide come after me all you like I won’t judge but I gave my pov that is all, its not that everything people do or say is perfectly black and white. Break it up anyway you like to play me I wasn’t being disrespectful or anything but you have pleasure or something to call one out as they say today maybe due to other AL comments here and there. Obviously my comparison didn't make sense to you but maybe to one else. Mate I’m not preparing a business presentation when on here just typing fast off the top of my scattered head between things. So it wasn’t a good analogy - you shot me hope you feel better over it though can't see the point making such a big deal about it, its just talking the piss to me.

Unlike you I can enjoy it whether it's the best standard or not. Just like I can watch women's tennis or women's state of origin or women's rugby and enjoy it. 80 000 will be watching and cheering Australia play Ireland in the opening match and you'll be at home banging on your keyboard about how the 'tickets were so much cheaper' and reminding everyone about 'that time the Jets under 15s beat them'. I don't know why I bother replying. You don't like it? Then leave the blokes alone that do enjoy it.

Why am I some sad pathetic clown? Because I don't watch women's football. That's about 99% of the Australian public. Are you a sad pathetic clown because you don't watch the W league? Genuine question, what is it about the W league that you don't enjoy? Imagine if all the virtue signalling Muz's in the world actually got behind the womens game, not just with lip service and token gestures, but parting with actual money, then the girls who train no less, committing as much time as the fellas might actually earn some decent coin.

+x+x+x+x+xYeah, have to admit I have zero interest. There are a lot more female playing soccer than those female swimming. In case you didn't know women football is the world fastest growing sport in terms of popularity. Many European clubs start investing a lot of money into their league.

Don't get caught at your at your lack of knowledge on it. I'm a huge swimming fan & being Australian huge fan of the women's swimming team. But a Kyle Chalmers 13 year Australian record in the 100 free is faster by a fair margin than the current women's World record. Most 14/15 year boys swimming at National junior levels would be faster than the women's world record.
