Pardon my ignorance but why doesn't the result stand from when the match was abandoned?

If there was a massive electrical storm or the stadium lights went out and this much time went by it wouldn't be replayed would it?

I don't think its being replayed mate. The game clock will commence from 21 mins into the game??????? Bizarre decision from FA.... 

4 months later, players have left both teams, injuries, red-cards etc etc how on earth can this game be continued????

Im not a fan either way (personally)  If only 20 odd mins of game have been played then when replay is re-scheduled months later it should be kickoff for full 90 mins.

Too many variables have transpired in between, and not fair on either side to begin with a scoreline that doesn't reflect current team... What happens with time added on at the end of first half for example, or any ytellow cards issued, warnings etc? What about substitutes if any where made???  Its too messy, again just my 2 cents. Play the whole thing again or default the match and award 3 nil to CFG.

The scoreline probably prevented them from replaying the game. If it was 0-0, I reckon it could have just been replayed. Personally, the smarter option would have been to just boot the crowd out and resume play on the same night behind closed doors. People might then have argued that Glover was unfairly injured and may have been unable to play on. Other people would argue that City should have been down to 10 men because of Glover. Either way, I have the feeling MC may lose (or at least draw) this one. I'm predicting the game gets decided by a late score in extra time.

Even though my team could benefit from this it really is stupid.

Not many other teams would have argued too much if City had just been avoided the 3 points and a 3-0 forfeit.

However, since the decision has been made and they only lead us by 2 points with 4 games to go, c'mon you Melbourne Victory!! I've always loved you guys really!!!

There are two problems with restarting the game.
1. The Match Review Panel has adjudicated on the first 22 minutes of the game. How can they do that mid game?
2. Glover threw a lit flare into the crowd. The action was clearly deliberate, and therefore he should have received a red card. As the game was stopped at that point, the restart should start with him getting a red card. Will he even be playing?

The game should be replayed. Somewhere it was said that if the game was restarted the goal by O'Neill would not be recorded, so that is why it's being restarted. Seems lunacy if that is correct!!!!

Quite simple, a replay should be happening. As a poster above postulated after 22 minutes, if a storm had occurred, it would be replayed. This is no different.

I wanted this match played behind closed doors personally. It's a joke how they have done the tickets full priced  on a Wednesday night 

Wait, did people have to re-purchase tickets? If you had a ticket for the original game, did you have to buy a new one?

To me, MV should've forfeited the game. It does seem a bit silly to be resuming it all this time later.

Anyway, now that it's being played, I hope to see a great game to make it all worthwhile.

More to my point, NSL fans just supported their club. 
Didn't try to control what the league does. 
Didn't spit the dummy when major changes were made to the league. 
E.g. moved to summer. Club name changes. Finals formats. P/R removed and reimplemented, etc. 

There was no walkouts. No demands to meet with league hierarchy to discuss. No self entitled expectations to be heard. 
People Simply supported their clubs.

The only protest I remember may be from the 90's when Heidelberg were booted out of the league and their fans may have protested. 
Especially after they installed lights  at Olympic village that season when league criteria demanded it.

We knew the NSL wasn't perfect. 

I doubt the disgruntled fans even bothered going to this match in first place. Attendance has been poor for most games since that retarded decision by Apl.

Official attendance was 6,423. Not surprising to be honest.

It didnt look terrible for a Wednesday and only 3/4 of a game... 

20000+ for 21 minutes 
6000+ for 69 minutes. 

Probably the biggest Melb derby crowd for over 5 years.
