Pretty happy with squad. Totally gapped Tilio is elgibile for Olyroos still.

Good to see a lot of the better players being brought in. No Mo Toure. Rawlins did well as a fill in CB so it's an emergency situation.

How good is Hollman? Don't know much about him.

Would've preferred Wood over Vellupillay and lazy Italiano is very lucky.

Media info is that Bos is unavailable. It'd mean Roo friendlies (which the FA know a lot more about than ourselves) yet if he's already going to Westerlo, he doesn't exactly need to put himself in a European shop window at this tournament. 

a league scout did a plot of successful progressive actions vs succesful defensive actions for all a league midfielders

the more successful progressive actions, the less defensive and vice versa for most players. Put another way, mids are usually good at working the ball forward or good at breaking up play but not both. Holman was a complete outlier in the a league for having a high number of both. 

Missed that Francois played 10 matches in the croatian league this year along with 1 epl match. Billity over natta and popa is interesting. Only one rb is also interesting when simmons is keeping out cleur at wsw. Teague is also interesting considering how many cms we have, unless he plays cam which we are a bit light on.

Still a remarkably strong squad when you consider who is left out (circati, volpato, robertson, mo toure, jovanovic, yull, gomulko, trewin, natta, popa, wood, irankunda, simmons, bos, alargich, Yazbek, ballard. Can make a mean squad just of players missing out!). If we qualify for the olympics, 6 will become socceroos regulars apparently

This is Marlee Francois of Bristol city, not his older brother Tyrese who you've referred to. Tyrese needs a new permanent club. Marlee got some bench appearances for City.

Remarkable depth actually considering who is not selected and the ones that will take part with the u20s tournament next month.

Surprised Trewin is not selected unless injured, Mo Toure not involved at all hopefully Arnie and co do what they can to cap him.

I hope Toure is being held back for a higher NT role + to focus on club football.

You’re mixing up the Francois brothers - Marlee Francois played for Bristol City, it was his brother Tyrese who played in Croatia this season 

Same strange selections but still a good squad which shows the depth we have now.

Personally would’ve picked Mo Toure, Trewin, Popovic and Silvera while it seems some of the Euro based players are being picked so they can have a closer look at them.

I genuinely think this cohort is likely to be the main group of Socceroos for the next decade. The cohort born after 2001 is immensely strong and I'd be very surprised if it's limited to 6. 

The attacking positions seem unbalanced to me. G. Kuol, Tilio, Brook, Velupillay all naturally right wingers. Botic CF. Italiano left winger. Peupion CAM. The train ons have two CF though in A. Kuol and Novello, who is probably the most interesting selection! I also wonder why no Jovanovic or Yull? 

If we run a front three like the NT I expect we'll see some combo of RF: Tilio/G. Kuol CF: Botic/G. Kuol LF: Tilio/Italiano. 

Yull has stress fractures in his back that have flared up. 

Apparently the tournament is for players born between 2001-2004 so that rules Nestory out.

we cant even get an uber for Mo toure? the bloke is breaking into Reims... he could be starting forward in a top league next season.... wtf is going on???

Could be we're letting him focus on club football or we're picking him in the senior NT instead.

Bility doesn't even play in the Portuguese second tier and struggled for gametime in Iceland. Selections like this are why I feel the squad is experimental.
