D'Arrigo signals for it to be passed if at all to his right but it's played straight to him on the dome and he's outmuscled and the ball rolls to the Panama striker waiting and it bobbles through and in.

We need to talk.  This playing out from the back shit is killing the national team at all levels all the way to the seniors.  The coaches need to work out what the fucking point is and then to throw it in the bin.  Its beyond a joke.

I wonder how we'd be going with Gauci, Circati and Triantis in the squad and at the back instead. 

Surprised Nieuwenhof isn't in for D'Arrigo to be fair too. 

I don't mind playing out from the back but there's a time for it and a time to hoof it up-field. I feel there's some shocking decision making and composure. Default is to play out no matter how pressured which is dumb. 

It’s crazy how all 4 levels of our national teams have the exact same panic at the back. You’d think after all this practice they’d have become comfortable with playing out but nope. 

I was at Hannover away in Augsburg once. We do the same shit. Our centre backs stood at both corner flags for a goal kick. The Augsburg forwards hovered around. Our keeper ended up trying an option and the goal kick went out for a corner kick.

Why risk it? Just boot it down field and win a header. It's akin to not punting on 4th down in NFL. If you build up from the back the chance of losing it in midfield due to a tackle or wayward pass is probably just as high as the goal kick going to the other team. At least the ball is safely away.

How isn't that a free kick there? Vellupillay clearly stepped on. Second half start with intent. 

Geez D'Arrigo, any lower and that free kick may have struck oil. Fucking lift! 

Much better there but surely Botic has the education and skill that the ball is past his marker and coming straight to his head that trapping, turning, shooting would've been the better option. 

Just dumb by Farrell. Both yellows totally avoidable.

2:1 Panama near the end. Seriously. We make weaker teams look good. Panama have offered very little this game and our stupid complacency and lack of cohesion and rational on decision making has cost us dearly. 

It's almost a trait of Australian teams at all levels at tournaments. Even the 1st goal in the U17 game was from complacency. We do it all the time, so frustrating.

I've never really been convinced. He had that shocking practice tournament about 18 months ago and has been riding the Huddersfield tag. I was very surprised he got a shot at Championship level. Still plenty of time to develop but he doesn't come across as too reliable. 

Massively disappointed in that. We need big investment in sport psychology. Players just not right in their mentality. 

hopefully for the olyroos quals we can have triantis and gauci play all games. Don't think we have the mistakes at the back if they are there

It is tricky to play out the back if you haven't played much together.....I know we are building a more technical style but if we are doing that we need more time together to build cohesian

I believe Gauci is overage for this cycle. 

We're not going to Paris. Japan and South Korea have excellent teams and the fourth placed team has an African Playoff. Uzbekistan, Qatar or Saudi Arabia will probably get third. I really hope we can lift and get there but there are a multitude of issues. 

A pretty sobering 24 hours for Australian football. Some good things but so much to work on too. 

Bit of a concern that we dont appear to have any decent prospects as a sweeper keeper for the future none look up to it at any level bar Maty.

Even David De Gea struggles, you just got to have the touch and confidence on the ball.

Just watched the goals. Christ almighty we are dumb sometimes.

A winnable game which we lost, we got exposed by our lack of experience playing in these big games in a tournament.
The Mexico game was different with different expectations and we won because the expectations were lowed against a much formable opponent but tonight we played with the different expectations as the favourites with the better players and we lost from our mistakes, that for me was disappointing the most is the game was on our control and we threw it away with poor decision making.

Im not sure what the keeper was thinking playing out when D'Arrigo was man marked and the pass was never on to begin with! And Farrell was dumb with he's defending and made some mistakes which you should never do especially with the first yellow which he's lucky it was not a red card.

A harsh lesson in international football something the players cant learn from their clubs, which is why they need to play more games at this level especially as  international football is a dog eat dog world the pressure goes on another level and if you lack experience you will get exposed by more battle hardened teams.

The Joeys and Olyroos got exposed by the pressures of international football even if they had the better players, its not enough at this level we need to learn from this and be better for the future.
